She held the bo staff in her hand, practicing a mixture of shooting and staff wielding. She'd found a strange equilibrium to the two, but it wasn't nearly as accurate as using one or the other. Ami was never going to be physically adept, so mastering weapons was not her song suit.
She was far more suited to the lab benches or the library, benefitting the hunters through knowledge, rather than brute strength.
Ami texted Otto from the training field, for once bored of using the dummies and being alone. She needed a moving target, one she could practice with. Though it pained her to hurt her little brother, there was only one person she could depend on to give his all against her, not relenting just because she was weaponless.Text to Otto Could you come to the training field, if you're not too busy?

Otto replied to her text punctually and jogged toward the fields.
"Sup?" Otto called out, slowing down as he neared the smaller hunter.

"Otto you're an intelligent boy," she chided, "Surely you can figure out what's 'Up'." Ami saying What's up was just weird.
She carefully set the bo staff back into its barrel, instead opting for her shiny guns. "Shall we?"

Otto managed a faint smirk. "Intelligent ain't usually a word that people use to describes me, but yeah. I get ya."
Tenya was summoned, and hoisted above his head, ready to strike.

Otto was well aware of Ami's lack of bonded weapon. That didn't mean he'd go easy on her. There was no point of doing that.
"If yer feelin' woozy, say the safety word." Otto half teased, twirling Tenya a few times before hurling it at the woman.

Ami was completely blindsided as Tenya smacked her in the face, completely bowling her over and drilling her into the ground. Ow? Ow. When had Otto gotten so much stronger? A strange part of her was proud.
The other part was busy recoiling from the damage. With her shitty FEAR shield, things that should have been a cut turned into long, bruising gashes. Curse Otto for getting the head start.
"Oh? We have a safety word?" she asked. As far as she knew they'd never set up one. She rolled on the ground and came to her knees, firing bullets at the boy hunter, eager to ... impress him?

"Naw, but we could make one. The safety word is now... Stop." Original Otto was original.
The teen hoisted Tenya in from of himself to try and deflect some of the oncoming bullets, only able to stop a few. He tsk'd and spun his weapon once more.
With a few powerful swings, he hurled the weapon back out to Ami.

Ami guffawed as the boomerang knocked her back once more, completely taken aback by just how hard Otto was hitting. Yeah, she was definitely proud of the person she considered her kouhai. Even though she, technically, was the kouhai.
"How creative," she scoffed, firing a spray of bullets, most of which hit Tenya and bounced off him uselessly. "Rather nice shield you have there."

"Thank ya kindly." Otto murmured semi sarcastically back. He was getting more used to using the giant weapon as part shield, using its mass as both offensive and defensive. It just made being quick footed very difficult. He couldn't fight on the move, like anyone with shorter, more mobile weapons.
Having gained some more distance from the other hunter, Otto ran forward, gaining enough speed to skid to a halt and release his weapon in the same motion. He liked using this move for ultimate damage.

Ami did not like Otto's ultimate damage move.
She was actually rather proud of herself. She dodged Otto's boomerang the first time it swung around. When it came back was when it hit her, totally knocking her onto her face in a completely embarrassing manner. She spat out dirt and, still laying on the ground, fired bullets at Otto's feet.
Grumpy Ami was grumpy and dissatisfied with her own performance.

Ami's attack came as a surprise, catching the blonde off guard. He staggered backward, trying to get out of range.
He wasn't sure how to hit her while she was on the ground. He threw the weapon anyway, trying to aim Tenya to fly forward as close to the ground as possible.

While Otto was stumbling, Ami performed a little barrel roll off the ground and behind a bale of hay. Okay, she had him surprised. That was an advantage right?
She quickly flicked the blue switch on the side of her modified guns, setting one of them to trapping net. Hopefully this would work ...
Ami ducked out from behind the hay and shot the net as close to Otto as she could, but it completely missed.
Her advantage was gone.
Ami was screwed.

The net was dodged rather easily, but it still set off little warning bells for the blonde. Geez, that would have been problematic.
Out of sheer adrenaline from almost getting trapped in a net, Otto hurled Tenya at the crouched figure with nearly all his power.
So much for that safe word.

Ami would have shouted "Stop" when she was on the ground, but Otto prevented her from doing that. Tenya slammed into her head, hitting a soft spot and slamming her into a hay bale.
Her body hung crooked on the hay, strung like an ornament on a tree. No safety word, just darkness.

. . . . Well. This had never happened before. Otto dismissed Tenya. He was anxious, worried, and a little ticked off that Ami hadn't told him that her condition was that bad.
The teen jogged over, looking her over. maybe she was just resting. But no, she was out cold. Welp. This had gone badly. It could have been worse, he supposed. But beating someone into unconsciousness wasn't something he took any pleasure in.
"Ami?" Without a response, Otto did his best to pick the small woman up into his arms. Good thing this wasn't Clerise, or Dakota. This was one of the few on the island he could comfortably lift.
And off to the infirmary they went.
