It was towards the end of the normal dinner rush and things were starting to calm down, fortunately there weren't many people drinking at the bar so less of a chance of rowdy customers. Which was a good thing, because there was no telling how close to the breaking point Aubrey really was.
She kept her cool around the customers but muttered her frustration when she went in the back for orders or to the bar for more drinks, her fellow employees recognized her attitude and managed to keep grins off of their faces, fortunately for them. Aubrey's temper and frustration levels were well known amongst the staff and they all knew to keep out of her way.
With a sigh Aubrey worked on cleaning a table, rubbing her eyes with the back of her other hand, careful not to smear her makeup, all she needed was to scare customers away looking like the crypt keeper.
Aubrey then tucked the washcloth back into its bucket behind the register and straightened her apron and retied it before smoothing down the skirt of her work uniform. She then glanced around the bar checking on her remaining customers to make sure they didn't need anything else.

Food. Food food food foooooooooood. Art club had run a little late tonight. The teacher made her stay behind to compliment her on the improvements that she was making, and suggested even mooooore improvements. And while that was perfectly awesome and cool, it meant she didn't have enough time to grab some dinner before heading off into the night. Since it was Esme.. OPTIMISM. She thought she could make two hours of energy draining on an empty stomach. If she believed she could, then... Oh how wrong you are, Esme. Now it was late at night, and the seventeen year old was desperate. DESPERATE. She would take any food now. Ace of Spades or Ace of Splades or WHATEVER it was called, it would do. She was unaware that she practically barged into the establishment, drawing the eyes of a few patrons. Nor was she aware that she just plopped into a booth without waiting for a hostess. Nor was she aware that this was a sports bar and probably not a place for a seventeen year old girl to be alone. OH WELL SHE WAS HUNGRY. Bluh bluh bluh bluh... She turned wavery watering eyes over in Aubrey's direction. Please feed me, they said. Plleeeaaaase.

Aubrey's eyes were drawn by the front doors slamming open and the young girl walking into the bar. While teenagers and children were not a rare occurrence, it was odd for one to come alone at this time of the night. However when the pleading eyes met her own Aubrey couldn't keep a small grin from her lips before she grabbed a menu and walked over to the girl and placed it in front of her. "Can I get you started with anything to drink?" She asked looking down at the girl. She didn't ask questions, didn't really need to know, as long as the girl could pay, it wasn't any of Aubrey's business why she was out so late. Aubrey was only glad that she was getting off of work soon and might be able to cram in some last minute studying for her exam the following morning before she crashed.

The girl took the menu from her waitress and smiled. "I..." But that's when it hit her. She'd never, ever, ever been in a bar by herself before. Sure, she'd gone off to fast food or ice cream joints by herself before, but never had she been to a bar without her parents ordering her stuff for her. Esme cleared her throat and opened the menu. "Uhm... how about...." She'd gotten wine when she went on that date with Nicolae! Maybe it would work again this time! "How about some Chardonnay?" YEAH. That word sounded fancy enough. Her mother used to order it all the time. She didn't even WANT the stuff but it sounded like the right thing to order at a bar.

Aubrey looked at the girl blankly for a second, then grabbed another menu and flipped it to the back where the drinks were listed. "I rather like my job, and the fastest way to get fired is serving alcohol to minors, how about a soda, tea, or coffee?" Aubrey questioned, trying not to be mean, but she really needed her job and didn't need to be losing it.
"We can go through the whole song and dance of me asking you for your ID and even if you had a fake one you don't look any older than 18 and legally I'm allowed to deny you a drink, But personally, I'd rather you just order something else."
She suddenly grinned as she looked down at the girl, "Just because you're at a sports bar does not mean you have to order alcohol, we have a great selection of beverages and the best burgers in town." Aubrey added hoping to keep the girl from getting angry at her, which had definitely happened with disgruntled teenagers who had been denied their booze.

"Ahahahahaa. I don't have a fake ID. I've never actually been to a bar before without.. uhm... company. Sorry." It'd been just an idea to get some wine. Nothing actually came of it and it didn't bother her any, save for the realization that she could've cost this girl her job. "Uhm, I mean, I didn't mean to almost get you fired. That would suck. So.. .uhm.. I'm really sorry!" She smacked her lips and skimmed the menu. "I guess, can I have a ... Shirley Temple and .. what kinda burger do you recommend?" Ordering by yourself was hard work. WHAT DO.

Aubrey smiled down at the girl, glad that she wasn't trying to get alcohol and waved off her apologies. "It's no problem, Just and honest mistake." Aubrey responded hoping it was true, she needed this job, and was glad that the girl wouldn't try to get away with being served alcohol, or complaining to the manager about her.
Aubrey turned and looked over the menu with the girl, reading over the cheeseburger section. "Ah lets see, the BBQ Bacon Cheeseburgers are great, so is the portobella mushroom and swiss burger, those two are my personal favorites, though the everything burger is also pretty good." Aubrey responded smiling at the girl.
"I'll go get your shirley temple while you decide on what you want." Aubrey told her before walking swiftly behind the bar so she could make one. Aubrey soon returned with a large glass with a couple of extra cherries floating in the sprite as another little thank you for not making a fuss.
"Decide on anything yet?" Aubrey questioned with a pleasant smile.

Nnnnng. Decisions were hard. Esme had stared hard at that menu. BBQ bacon cheeseburgers sounded delicious. Mushroom and swiss burgers sounded delicious. Everything burgers and EVERY burger sounded delicious. So when Aubrey returned, Esme's face was still stuck in that menu. She didn't even notice the awesome extra cherry gesture. "Uhmmm...." The menu then laid flat on the table. She covered her eyes with one hand and hovered an index finger over the menu. Looks like it would be an eenie meenie minie moo decision. "That one!" BAM. Esme uncovered her face and peered at it. "The Mega Big Burger it is!" she chirped. The Mega Big Burger, the biggest and most expensive burger on the menu. The girl beamed at her waitress before her eye caught notice of the extra red in her soda. "Oh my gosh! Thank you!"

To Aubrey it didn't really matter what the girl picked because it was the burger patties themselves that were the delicious part to regardless the cheeseburger would taste awesome. Aubrey grinned at the girl when she pointed at the menu to make her decision. "I hope you brought your appetite with you, that's a pretty big burger, do you want curly fries or steak fries with that?" Aubrey questioned sort of feeling bad giving the girl more decisions to make, but she would also hate to serve her something she didn't want to eat. When the girl noticed the extra cherries she simply smiled and nodded her head in acknowledgement, Aubrey always appreciated an extra cherry herself so she liked giving them to other people when she could.

Oh my gawwwwd there was another decision that she had to make? What kind of fries?!?! "Uhm, the steak fries sound pretty good." The young girl nodded. "And if they're just as big as the burger? Even more excellent. I'm starving." Her stomach growled just to prove it to the waitress. Pink Esme need food badly.

Ryndilee just gonna finish this off, sorry for disappearing "steak fries it is." Aubrey responded as she shut her notebook. "I'll get that right out to you." Aubrey crossed into the kitchen and put in the order, and then moved about the bar taking care of other customers. When the order was ready Aubrey brought it back to the girl and set the giant burger in front of her with an equally large portion of fries. "I hope you can handle it, I brought a box just in case." Aubrey responded putting the box across from the girl along with the check. Aubrey gave her some space and went back to finishing up with her other customers so she could go home. "Have a good night!" she said cheerfully after picking up the check.
