Ochieng had never thought of herself as a religious lion; she believed in freedom and adventure and having a good time. That had all changed once she'd met a few of the Mwezi'Johari lions, and had heard a little about their beliefs. It was intriguing to say the least... and part of her was tired of always being on her own and fighting tooth and claw for her last meal. A pride sounded sensible, like a new adventure in itself!
Meeting the king and queen had been pretty cool, if not nerve-racking, and learning about the slaves was a little strange. Ochieng thought she understood most of it though, and she hadn't been worried about it. Even a life as a servant appealed to her more than the rest of her life on her own.
The moon flower thing had been pretty interesting, but also scary. Ochieng suspected most new experiences here would be at least a little terrifying, since she wasn't used to any of them. She'd been placed in the lower middle class, which also meant she was a hunter. So far, it was all it meant for the gray lioness. She'd met several seemingly important lions and lionesses, but hadn't had much social interaction... so she was determined, after having been in the pride for a little while, that today she'd make a friend!

KasaiLoki To say today was not ordinary would have been a lie. It was just like any other. The light blue lion moved across the lands, kicking up dirt as he went. He was rather bored; adult life was so boring! Being ranked a guard, he now had responsibilities to uphold, something the blonde male wasn’t really keen on. But he would do them. Everyone had to grow up sometime! There had been a small influx of new comers lately, and Nteo was ready to meet them. Maybe they would bring something interesting to his currently dull life. The moon in the sky was not full, not even halfway bright. Soon it would disappear for nights, before returning to its fullest. While gazing up at the sky, the scent of another entered the area. Distracted for a moment, Nteo gazed around, spotting the lioness whom had recently joined. She woke up during this phase of the moon…that meant she was of a lower class. It didn’t bother him a bit; Nteo was one to like everyone. He padded over to the female, “Awake I see?” he asked. He wasn’t sure how long the lioness had really been out.

And just her luck, she wouldn't have to wait long! She still didn't fully understand the ranking system, the rules and social norms of it, but slowly it would all come to her bit by bit. The general idea was there, and that was good enough for her. She gave the male a big smile, trying to recall if he'd been at her welcoming ceremony or not. He, like many in the pride, had a lot of pretty markings. And a moon! She noticed a lot of the lions were blessed with the crescent moon and briefly wondered if it was a lucky marking or something. Maybe a bunch of them were just related?
"Ah, yeah!" She said, forgetting he'd asked her a question. "Just a few nights ago, actually." She wondered if she was supposed to tell him her class or something. Or maybe just her name would do? "I'm Ochieng! It's really nice to be a part of your pride!" Well, not his pride, obviously. But he was part of it, she was part of it now... it all worked out.
She studied his paws for a moment, deciding she liked his clouds as well. Privately she'd thought she and her siblings were fairly boring when it came to pelts, but she was most boring of them. "I like your clouds!" Yes, compliments definitely made friends!

KasaiLoki “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Ochieng. I’m Nteo’leru, son of Chander and Wambazi.” She probably didn’t know his parents, but still Nteo thought it be respectful to add them in his name. He had done that ever since he was little, and still continued to do so when he met any newcomers. “Mostly everyone calls me Nteo though,” his ears swiveled in place at the comment about his pride. “Well, it’s your pride too now!” He smiled. At the cloud remark, Nteo’s smile widened. “Thank you, a gift from my mother, I like to say.” In truth, he was the only one of his siblings to bare such markings. His brothers held the starry formation, but neither of them were graced with the lovely clouds that his mother had. The light lion believed it made him extra special then. Although the lioness was mainly one color, Nteo was intrigued by the odd stripes dripping from her eyes. None of the lions of the pride bore such simplicity markings, or at least, none that Nteo had met yet. It made her unique. “Do you like this place so far?” Nteo asked. Sure he should be doing his job---but what was twenty minutes out of work? The borders seemed rather quiet tonight.

Oh was she supposed to of added her parents names as well? She doubted there was any way he could know of them though and she'd already introduced herself so it'd probably just be silly if she did so. "Nteo?" Though she didn't quite like the sound of being like everyone else, shouldn't she establish a unique personality if she wanted to make a friend? Probably. "Can I call you Ler?" If he didn't like it Nteo would be good enough. He couldn't possibly know, of course, that she'd end up seeking him out whenever she had free time and spotted him now.
She nodded at the pride comment, beaming. "That's right~" Her entire life had been spent as a rogue, but now she could boast that she was part of something bigger!
So his mother must have had cloud legs too, which was cool! "I don't think we have any special markings in my family... though some of my siblings had a nice salmon color in their pelts."
"Oh yes!" She replied almost immediately when he asked his question. "I think it's lovely here, I've never been a part of a pride my entire life. I'm glad I picked this one... though I still have a lot to learn about." She didn't seemed worried about this, however. "And it's great because I get to be a huntress, and growing up a rogue... well you either get really good at hunting or you don't get a long life." She grinned at this, even though it was slightly morbid.

KasaiLoki Ler? His head tilted in thought as he contemplated the name. Everyone usually called him Nteo, so it was different to be called something else. He shrugged it off though, flashing the smile. “If you would like, though I will admit, it may take me some time to get use to.” He could just see him now, walking right past the female as she called out Ler, and in his mind he would be question who Ler was until it dawned on him. “Salmon color?” Being born in the lands, Nteo only knew that of what he had seen. If other members hadn’t told him what a color was, he would be clueless. Salmon was one of those issues. Good, he was glad she was liking the pride, even though she had only been in it for a couple days. “Don’t worry, everything will come in time. Soon it’ll be like you were born in here, and no one will know you were once a rogue,” he said kindly. He frowned at the thought the female said when she spoke of no life if she wasn’t a great huntress. “That’s…rather sad,” Nteo commented out loud. He never had been in a life where he would have to face the challenges of rogue life---one were literally your life lay in your own hands. Here in the pride, all the lions stayed together; if you needed help, just ask and it would be received. “You’ll have to teach me a thing about hunting then, Ochieng…” he chuckled, “I’m afraid I may lack decent skills in doing such a task.” His job was guarding and protecting the pride, not…feeding it?

Though he didn't seem opposed to being called Ler he obviously wasn't sure of it... Ochieng was sure she could get him to come around to the nickname though. "Yeah, you can be Ler and you can call me O!" That was a brilliant idea, actually! Ah, but what if he didn't want to? "I mean, you don't have to. But I thought that would be cool, sort of like a secret pact or something..." Did that make it sound worse? Still, the grin hadn't left her face once. It was okay if he thought she was weird for demanding nicknames, it was no fur off of her hide.
He didn't know.... ah but how could she even show him? She didn't have any of it on her fur! She suddenly moved much closer to him, inspecting his eyes. Ochieng was not one for personal boundaries, sadly. "Hmm. It's sort of like... a mixture of your eyes..." And then she was moving in a circle around him. "And this pink color you have on you." And without hesitation she reached out a paw and touched one of the stripes adorning his back.
No one would know she was a rogue? But... hmm. She wasn't sure if she was happy for that or sad, possibly a little bit of both. Though she knew she already liked being in the pride she didn't want to forget or ignore her past. "Sad?" She blinked, seeming a little confused. "That's just... how life is in the rogue lands." She shrugged, obviously not bothered by it. If you grew up learning that sort of fact it wasn't really all that sad, it just was what it was. "Sure it's hard but... it makes you stronger." Or something like that!
Her eyes widened a little at the thought of teaching someone else something, immediately the idea appealed to her. She'd never been offered to teach someone something! "Oh, cool! Yeah I could do that... you don't know how to hunt?" Her head tilted a little and she sounded like she didn't believe him. Pride cats sure were... different. "What do you do then?" Obviously other lions hunted for him, and probably many others in the pride. So that meant... "So a lot of members are going to depend on me?" She sounded ecstatic about that as well.

KasaiLoki Ler and…O? Oi, this would certainly be a strange relationship. Well, Nteo was looking for something out of the ordinary to enter his life. Perhaps the gods above heard this, and thus Ochi…O was here? It was pretty coincidental. “Alright then, O it is.” If it made the lioness happy, why would Nteo be one to complain? He stiffened at the sudden nearness of the lioness. Apparently, she knew not of personal space either. Maybe it was a rogue thing? Nteo hadn’t really met many rogues before, or newly acquainted pride members, so this could just be a typical aspect they all had? After all, Ochieng did mention that the rogue lions had to be great hunters to live. If they had that in common, there must have been other qualities they had. Note to self, he thought to himself. Try to understand the life of a rogue. He could only nod as she pointed out the color. “Well, if it makes you stronger…” He still wasn’t entirely convinced. He still found the ‘survival of the fittest’ idea quite sad. He would probably fail at that method if he ventured out in the rogue lands ever. “It’s not that I don’t know how to hunt,” he tried to think as he shook his head. “I’ts more like…I’m not very good at it?” When you had others who did the job for a living, you didn’t need to be good at it. Instead, he just needed to know the basics. “I’m patrol the borders. Making sure those who come in intend no harm, and younger ones don’t venture outside.” He was proud of this. “Indeed! There are a bunch of members of the pride you have yet to meet.” Nteo didn’t mention there were other hunters and huntresses around. Instead, he let her have her moment. Being a huntress was an important task, regardless of how many held the rank. A pride needed to eat, after all.

Ochieng did a sort of little dance from paw to paw as he agreed to call her 'O'. She thought it was a rather wild nickname, very mysterious because it was only one letter and other lions would probably often ask, 'who is this O character?' "I've never had a nickname before!" She practically purred out the words, happy as she was.
She didn't notice his discomfort at her close proximity, and probably wouldn't notice such a thing unless a lion pointed it out to her. Even then she'd probably think they were joking... of course, this came from lack of much social interaction and the need to feel closeness to another, whether it be literal or metaphorical. She'd already decided, after all, that she and Ler were to be friends. Which sort of already made them friends, in her mind, and meant that this sort of closeness wasn't a problem at all.
She nodded absently as he stated the words about strength. Ochieng was very proud of her hunting skills... of course, she would soon learn that hunting on your own was a whole different technique to hunting with others. She didn't yet know how to act as part of a team, though in time she would learn.
"Right." Which meant a lot of opportunities for new friends! "I can't wait! It'll be great!" She nodded at her own comment, whole heartedly agreeing with herself. "Anyways I guess I should try and introduce myself to some other lions and lionesses, yeah? I mean... I met a bunch after I woke from that long sleeping thing but it wasn't like... a lot. You weren't there, so probably others weren't as well." She thought about this a moment. "Oh, now I remember. It was just people like me, other hunters." In which she meant, lions of her class.

KasaiLoki This lioness was a strange one, Nteo had to admit. This wasn’t necessarily a bad thing though. It sure did prove to bring something of interest. He frowned when she mentioned about leaving to meet others. He should get back to his patrol too, before someone caught him lounging around on the job. He gave her a nod, “Have fun.” He told her. “The lions here are all quite nice, you should have no problem making new friends. Who knows, maybe you’l be the most popular pride member in no time!” Nteo complimented. With her personality, she certainly would be known throughout the pride. “I should get back to my rounds too,” with a short pivot on his paws, he faced away from his new friend. “See you around…O!” He called out with a wink over his shoulder. This would be the start of quite an intriguing new friendship.
