Only a few words could describe her feeling right now. She was bored .So bored. She had no one around, and she was sure she had lost her brother's trail once again. Damn it. Today wasn't going quite as she had planned, but she supposed that was why she hated making plans. She had already eaten earlier that morning, and her belly gurgled a little as it digested the zebra she had consumed. Maybe that was why she was bored. She felt lazy. She was so full, she didn't feel like doing much of anything. But she was too antsy to not move. Oh life was full of problems.
The ebony pawed lioness walked through the savannah grasses, her eyes gazing around her. The sun was going to be heading down soon, but she still had a bit of daylight.
"What better place to spend an afternoon.." She said with a grin as it came into her sights. "Than a Watering Hole." The water's looked refreshing, and she was unafraid of crocodiles. She would be cautious, but she didn't actively fear them. It was a good thing she wouldn't be in the waters long.
The watering hole was nestled snuggly between a few oasis trees. It was the perfect shady spot, she was sure of it.

It was a bad idea to leave the swamp, Kikope had concluded. He knew it was tradition for the adolescents to find their own names as they got older, but this was different for the white lion. As he grew up, he found his vision failing. He didn’t know if it was because his eyes were different from the rest of his family (the dual colored was something that did run in his genes, yet must had been recessive, since he was the only one to acquire it), or if the gods were mad at him and decided they needed to take his sight away all at once.
Regardless of the reason, Kikope trudged on, feeling the ground as he stared ahead of him. It wasn’t like he was completely blind, he could still tell certain shapes and shadows. When it came to detail though, best leave him out of it.
Growing up in the swamplands, the white lion could sense when a water supply was near. There was a certain feel in the air, something like moisture, but with a distinct smell of wet dirt mixed in.
He headed in that direction, carefully stepping forward with cautious steps. If he tripped on something so small like a rock, he’d feel quite embarrassed, even if no one had seen it. He just imagined what his new name would be: he who trips over the obvious. Kikope did admit, that would be fitting.
Squinting his eyes, the pale lion saw that he was not alone. Well, it was always nice to see others. With a smile, he called out to the other.
“Hello there!” his voice was carried in the wind.

She was on a quest herself. Perhaps a tad less important than his, but she was proud to say she had a mission. Unlike most who just wandered aimlessly until they found something interesting.. She had been looking for her brother. But she had a feeling he knew she was looking, and was purposefully trying to evade her. Sometimes she wondered if it was because he was ashamed of the path he had taken in life. She'd ask him that too, once she found him. Someone called out to her, and for a second she thought it was Diablo. Looking up though, she was clearly wrong. It was a handsome lion, one with a pelt of white.. His eyes were neat too, she found herself smiling despite herself. "Hello!" She called in a friendly tone. "I don't bite, you can enjoy the water too." She said, inviting him to share her space and time. She hadn't met many rogues out here, and she had been beginning to think that she was just going to end up traveling alone forever.

When the voice responded, Kikope followed the sound more than the sight. She wasn’t a difficult lioness to spot with his vision, as her pelt stuck out like a shadow on the plains’ grasses, but the white swampie was so use to following his ears than his eyes, he used it out of habit.
“Thank you,” he stated, nearing the water source. He let his toes drift into the water for a quick moments, feeling the slick mud under his feet. The feeling reminded him of the swamps, a place he missed for it was home. Kikope was always a finicky lion about the mucky waters though. Being a bright white lion, it was always hard to keep his pelt looking the nicest. Living in the swamplands made this task ten times worst.
Once lapping his fill, Kikope gazed his blurry vision to the lioness. “I’m Kikope,” he introduced, his dual colored eyes fixed on the shadow form.
“Are you from around here?”

She noticed he moved rather slowly, though he she wasn't sure if he was just unsure. She had no way of knowing that his vision was impaired. Though when he got closer, she cocked her head to see his eyes. They were really pretty, blue streaked through with a lovely shade of brown. She had never seen eyes like that. Not that she had been the type to be outside her pride until she had grown. She had listened to her momma, until she just couldn't anymore. "Very welcome." She said in response, and stepped into the water. It probably wasnt very sanitary to get into the water he had drunk from, but at least she had waited until he was done! "Name's Flicker-.. I mean. Name's Hadyn." She said, nodding her head, while a smile grew on her maw. "Nope! Im a wanderer. Got a heart that just can't sit still in one place. Much to momma's dismay." She chuckled lightheartedly. She'd see momma again, and Juno knew it. "What about you? I'd say I've never seen you around.. But I don't come here often."

His ears swiveled at her confusion of the name. She introduced herself as Flicker, but switched it with Hadyn?
Kikope would think she was of the swamplands too, perhaps just confusing her old name with her new name, but that thought was thwarted when she said she was just a wanderer. That’s what he was right now. He wasn’t sure if he liked the term for him too much, but he didn’t really see himself returning to the swamplands either. Maybe he would find a new home? But just thinking of that caused him to think of his mother. She would think sadly of this, always wondering just where her little boy had gone. Wouldn’t she?
He was tracked out of his thoughts as his blurry vision was brought back to the lioness. “Oh, I’m not from around here,” he said momentarily. “I’m from the swamp,” he wasn’t sure if she would understand the title the swamplands had, so he just kept it short and sweet. How many other lions resided in a marshy land? Living only a swamp life, Kikope only thought his pride to be that of the unique dwelling.
“It lies…that way,” he motioned his head in some aimless direction, not really sure if it was correct or not. “Well, I think that way at least,” his visual impairment did not help his sense of location at all. If he ever returned home, he would have a heck of a time finding it.

"From the swamp, eh? I've never been there. What's it like?" She asked, cocking her head and stepping out of the water slowly. It was a bit weird talking to someone while swimming. Or at least.. to her it was. "I'm from the land o' the Gypsies. It's okay. But I don't think I really liked it there." She nodded, and then plopped her butt down on the shoreline. She hadn't really thought of her parents since leaving. She hadn't told them she was leaving, not wanting to deal with their sadness. But they knew she loved them, and she hoped that was good enough for them. She cared, but she wanted to live her own life after all. Then he pointed her the direction to where he was from.. Or.. he had tried. She arched an eyebrow, looking where he pointed and then looking back at him. "What do you mean.. you think? Are you lost?" She asked. Maybe she could help him. If he wanted the help, of course.

“It’s….well…” How to describe the swamps?
“It’s very muddy and wet?” Kikope offered. Well, it was very muddy and wet. When he left, the land seemed to become much more drier. It must have just been the season changing. He had never been in the swamps during that time of year, so it was his only explanation.
“Gypsies? I can’t say that I have heard of that…” He wasn’t surprised. Kikope did live a rather sheltered life in the swamps.
“No…at least…I…well…maybe?” Not being able to know the direction of the where his home was was difficult. “I can’t go back yet though…I haven’t finished my quest.” He couldn’t return to the swamplands without having his true name. With how he was going, he didn’t know if he would ever find his true name.

She smiled when he spoke of the swamps. It sounded like a messy good time, but she supposed if he was staying away from home there was a reason for it. That reason was good enough for her. She nodded, looking the direction he had pointed, before meeting eyes with him once more. Though it seemed he looked straight through her more than AT her. She wasn't sure why, but it was a weird feeling. Nothing too bad, but still kind of weird. "We Gypsies aren't really keen on sharing who we are. But.. since I'm not really one anymore I suppose I don't apply." She chuckled, her voice happy. "Quest huh? What do you have to do on this quest? I could help!" Maybe it would keep her busy for awhile. "I mean.. Can I help? I could at least be a travel buddy. You can't not have a travel buddy!" She tried convincing him.

The concept of gypsies still eluded him. Other than the fact they weren’t keen on sharing who they were, Kikope was clueless. He kept it to himself, although his facial expression still showed the confusion.
“Uhm…I don’t know you are allowed?” Though, it’s not like anyone would know if he received help on this quest. “…Actually, I think that would be great!” He could always argue that it wasn’t in the rules that one must not be able to find their true name on their own. He and his siblings set off at the same time, so it would be like traveling with them, wouldn’t it?
“A travel buddy would be perfect!” He could have someone be his fading eyesight.
“My quest…it’s something like tradition for the swamplands. We are sent out to find our names.” Kikope explained. “It’s strange,” he gave a goofy grin. “I like my name.”

She hadn't been the best gypsy, and if she could have explained it better she may have tried. But for now, she just didn't care. She wasn't a gypsy anymore, so it didn't matter what they were really. Though she knew she'd return now and then, to see her mother and father. As much as she liked her freedom, she still had a heart that couldn't refuse her parent's pleas at her coming to see them a few times. She scoffed, rolling her eyes but not losing the smile she held on her features when he mentioned her maybe not being allowed. Wasn't like she wasn't used to doing things she wasn't allowed to do anyway. Though she did smile bigger, if it was possible, when he said she could come with him. "Awesome! I'm a good travel buddy." She said, nodding her head so that her fire colored head tuft bounced on her forehead. "Find a name, huh? Well. I kinda like your name now too. But I suppose we should get started. I like quests. They are like little missions." She said with a grin that matched his own. "We could name you Muddy." She said, and grabbed a pawful of the wet muddy shore and tossed it as him.

“I do too!” Kikope said. He couldn’t see himself named something else, but all swampies went through the tradition of the name, so he would have to suck it up and do it.
“I don’t even know where to start.” He had already been on the naming quest since he was an adolescent, and already his full mane had grown in. He thought he would never get off the quest. Hopefully, with the help of Hadyn, he would finish it soon!
“Muddy?” before he could even think about ducking, a pile of mud hit him. One would think living in the swamplands he would be use to the feeling, but the slick muck was never something that Kikope could be comfortable with. The white fur, he thought to himself, was why.
“I..think not…” he snorted, but held the joking tone. He flicked off the glob off mud on his face, right towards Hadyn. Without realizing where he was aiming at, it headed straight for the female partner.
Wanting to get away from the mud, the lion nodded towards the direction of lioness. “So, shall we head out?” he grinned. This journey wouldn’t be so bad after all.

"You don't know where to start? Well walking and moving is a good place to start. Sometimes you just gotta jump in." She said with a nod, though she winked at him. She wasn't sure what went into a naming quest either, but she didn't much care how long it took. She had a traveling buddy, and that was pretty awesome. She was sure that the company would just be nice, even if they never found their destination. Sometimes life was all about random things. When he was hit with the mud, she thought she saw a look of disgust on his features. She knew now, that he would have to get used to that. She was good at finding little annoyances, and making sure that was her joke she'd play on you. While she was thinking of that, she didn't realize he was flinging the mud back at her. She squeaked when it plopped on her nose, and shook her head quickly to remove it. She looked at him with a narrowed brow, though a smile was plastered on her maw. "Yes. Let's." She said, and took off in the direction she was choosing. "Catch me if you can!" She called laughing. Yes, this might be a good journey indeed.
