Kadryn went out looking for another Kiandri. This time she wasn't gonna settle for an Ayrala! Kadryn woke up really earlier for this hunt, if she wanted to find a Kiandri she would need more than a few hours to hunt. It was freezing on the ferry trip over, but once there it warmed up. Not much, but at least she couldn't see her breath anymore. The sun was just coming up over the horizon when she reached Eowyn. It was quite pretty, the brown dirt was frosted over making it looked like frosted ginger cookies.
A land of cookies! A snack anytime or place you want it! Kadryn smiled as she walked quietly into the desert, being as quiet as she could in the dawn stillness. She avoided hilltops and stuck between the dunes, not wanting to alert anything to her presence. It took longer, but she had all day to hunt.
It was almost noon and the desert was warming up, still chilly, but definitely warmer than Kadryn' snow covered home and way too warm for all the layers she was wearing. Stopping for a minute, Kadryn took off her largest jacket and her scarf. As she packed her stuff into her bag, Kadryn noticed the hill's shadow she was standing in had grown.. After all her hard effort trying to sneak around the dragon had snuck up on her! Snarling, Kadryn dropped her bag and grabbed her mace as her wings unfurled. She turned and half flew half charged up the hill at the larger grinning Kiandri. Her last thought before engaging in battle was "This one's big.... maybe too big."
The battle was nasty, This Kiandri was much older than Kadryn's first one. It was also smarter. Instead of standing and taking all of Kadryn's scale shattering blows, it dodged, kept its distance.. and threw lightning at her. That caught Kadryn by surprise. And she couldn't dodge them, the metal in her mace attracted every bolt. Angry that her own weapon was being used against her, Kadryn went berserk. She could care less that her hands burned as they grasped her sparking weapon, that each bolt burned and blinded her. All that mattered was to kill this dragon, smash it for its arrogance and mockery at her attacks! For it was mocking her, this dragon's roars sounded like laughter, and it wasn't taking Kadryn seriously at all. Eventually the bolts wore Kadryn out, there was only so much electricity her body could handle. She collapsed onto the sand, her hand still clutching her mace.
When Kadryn woke later that evening, she staggered up. Why hadn't the dragon killed her? Did it think she was so puny that killing her was a waste of time? Anger within her. A cold anger, one that promised death for the next dragon she ran into.
