The roars of angry dragons filled the air, scattering the normal fairs of flits that decorated Trine's rooftops. No one voice stood out over any other but one large bronze made sure every dragon felt his rage as his brassy bellow echoed from outside of the Hatching Sands.

Huge clods of earth were scattered as the bronze paced, every movement, every sound attracted his burning redorange eyes.

Z'fer was in no better mood as he stalked toward the Hatching Sands for the umpteenth time that morning. Ever since the alarm had been raised he'd had to keep a mental 'eye' on his dragon. Z'fer'd already spent almost a full hour just convincing Calanoth that going straight to Benden was a bad idea. While it could be assumed they were the culprits it would do them no good if he got himself killed trying to take on the traitorous bastards alone.

Sitting pretty and waiting for search parties to be organized wasn't something Z'fer cared to do either, but he'd already said in his piece with the Weyrleaders and excused himself to his dragon's side.

Hekate wasn't fairing much better with Devith though at least he didn't know how to between though that hadn't stopped him from threatening to do it so he could get his claws on those no good dirty~ And it was times like these Hekate became surprised about how much foul language her dragon had managed to pick up. Not that she was much better as the two of them seethed.

Though compared to Hekate Devith certainly was a much larger, but darker and angrier clawed pissed off individual. Mine we GO. I cannot abide to just sithere and wait. I willhelp. Devith hissed his dark rage filled voice echoing Hekate's own anger in her mind even as he rose and began to trudge off towards the hatching sands intent on at least being beside his friend. If Calanoth was going to guard the sands then so was Devith and that was that for the silver.

"Devith wait! We should let Z'fer know! Shard it slow down!" Hekate called running to catch up to her dragon who only paused in his step to at least let his rider scramble up onto him to hitch a rider towards the hatching sands. Sighing the red haired rider shook her head gritting her teeth at the sheer audacity of it all. Devith was so upset he'd started stringing his words together again as he had done as a hatchling though she made it a point not to point it out lest she only upset her bondmate further.

"Devith tell him we're coming. We don't want to surprise Calanoth." She warned as Devith craned one eye up to glance back at his rider before letting out a angry sigh, but complied.

Calanothfriend. Mine and I approach tohelp.
Devith warned his voice a touch gentler when it came to his upset friend, but no less firm and clearly just as upset as the pair padded around the corner.

Calanoth whipped around as the silver's voice interrupted the incoherent thoughts of blood that filled the bronze's mind. He snarled, fangs bared and dripping saliva as the two trotted into view. His wings mantled threateningly and casting a dark shadow on the ground around him. ~ They stole my eggs! MY EGGS! I will splash in their blood! I will drink their ichor like the cowardly wherries they are!~ He roared once again.

"CALANOTH!" Z'fer shouted as he arrived. While he shared in his dragon's sentiments it was not something that needed to be shouted to the entire weyr. He glanced towards Hekate. Trust was something that hadn't come easy to the pair, but if he allowed himself to suspect her in this then there would be no coming back from it. She'd had nothing to do with the thefts, he knew that and realized how insane it was to think anything else.

He was grateful to see her too. Z'fer needed her right now when his heart felt like a cold stone in the middle of his chest.

Even Devith who was no stranger to anger was rather surprised at the sheer fury of the the bronze. Stooping he allowed Hekate to slide from his back carefully placing himself between Calanoth and his beloved rider. They willpay. They willpay dearly for this Calanothfriend. Devith hissed back his own eyes whirling a rich red and orange, but he kept his wings mantled knowing it would not end well for his rider if he got into accidentally provoked the bronze into a tussle. I come to stand watch with you. If they will never set foot near your eggs ever again. He added with vicious determination settling himself to the side of Calanoth, but made sure to keep the bronze between him and the hatching entrance lest Cal mistake him as a threat. Settling down in the dirt Devith peered at his furious friend in concern the anger of the two dragons practically palpable in the air.

Hearing Z'fer Hekate spun her face lighting up further with concern as she rushed into his arms wrapping him tight in a hug. She just stayed like that for a few moments before she lifted her head looking up at him searchingly. "How many? All I've heard is they took the gold and some of Hyweth's clutch as well, but no one's been coherent enough to give me names or numbers yet. Devith wanted to come help Cal stand watch and I was afraid if a I left him at our weyr he'd just slink into the jungle and try and go looking for the eggs himself." Hekate asked shaking her head with concern and at her dragon's antics.

"I can't say I blame them. I let him get all wrapped up in the clutch and he and Cal~" She sighed clenching her jaw as she fought to control her anger and after a few short breaths managed to calm a touch. "How are you holding up?"

Calanoth was in no mood for friends or support. The fact that another dragon was getting into His space, near His mate and the remainder of His eggs was more than enough to set the already agitated bronze on edge. Just as his chest began to rumble with a growl Z'fer issued a sharp command to Stop. It.

Calanoth's wings dropped a fraction and his jaws closed. He set up his pacing again, keeping all of his senses open to any hint of threat. His mental voice was tightly controlled when he spoke again. ~ They will Devith. They will not escape with their lives. ~

Z'fer clung tightly to Hekate. His whole body was tense and cold. "Five from Suunath's clutch. Another couple from Hyweth's. I don't remember what everyone named them...But the gold egg's gone."

He didn't let her go but forcibly tried to relax his grip. "I had to stop Calanoth from going straight to Benden. He has it in his head to kill every dragon there till they return his eggs. Problem is we have no evidence at all to tie this to the Wherhandlers or anyone else for that matter. No one saw ANYTHING." His hands clenched. "We literally have nothing to go off of. Shards I'd be happy to see that damn blue again just to KNOW." Z'fer had no doubt in his mind that it was the wherhandlers, but how and why and where were all mysteries.

Especially the Why. Why would Keller want to steal their eggs? If he could get people into Trine so easily he could have just killed them all in their sleep and taken the whole sharding Weyr.

Devith settled down into the dirt watching his friend warily until finally Z'fer forced the bronze to back off. Then Calanoth merely went back to pacing Devith watching his friend go back and forth with the sort of resigned knowledge that he had to tire sometime and rest and Devith could wait. He preferred to save his energy for the thieves. How is your mate? Was she harmed? Devith asked though he wasn't particularly fond of the gold he still worried for her well being for Calanoth's well being. If the gold being happy and healthy kept his bronze friend happy and healthy then so be it Devith would ensure it was so.

Reaching up Hekate gently ran her fingers through Z'fer's hair tracing her hands over his face to cup his chin and pull him down for a gently kiss. "We'll get them back Z'fer. I swear it." She murmured in a gentle voice her tone cracking slightly with emotion as she stroked the side of his face trying to sooth her worried companion.

"We still have some whers on our side. We'll can bring them in to track those thrice betweened sons of a tunnelsnakes and bring the eggs back safe and sound. Surely they couldn't have come in on dragonback or we'd have known and if they've made for the rivers or jungles they hopefully won't be clear for pick up for at least a day maybe two with how thick the trees are." Hekate continued hoping to provide some comfort for Z'fer or at least lift some worry from his shoulders. She didn't like how deeply it upset her seeing him like this.

Calanoth kept up his angry pacing, low growls issuing from this throat. ~Physically she is unhurt. More than that I don't know. ~ With the gold focused on her rider's efforts to organize the search parties (he could only assume) He hadn't been able to talk with her. Not that he'd been so inclined. She had SLEPT while their eggs were stolen.

He returned her kiss in a distracted manner. Calanoth's anger and his own frusterations making loving gestures feel unnatural."Earliest we'll be able to get people out at this rate is this evening. There were no dragons or whers reported in the vicinity so we can only assume that they are on foot. I doubt they'd go into the jungles though. If someone wanted to escape with the eggs they'd get them as far as possible as quick as possible and that means roads." Messages had been sent by flit, dragon and runner to nearby Holds and watch posts but it would take time before any information could be consolidated into usable leads.

"With them this close to Hatching... at least the dragons should know if any go between."
