It might have cost her around two days work and an owed favor or three, but she’d gotten the ingredients she needed. She’d make those chocolate chip caramel cookies if it killed her, (highly unlikely). Flour on the front of her shirt, the apron she wore was nearly a dress, far too large for her, only adjusted by various knots and straps. Still her determination was unwavering as she mixed in the ingredients, adding in the freshly made caramel to the dough. The scent of sugar filling the air. Smiling as she did so, it never occurred to her to keep the doors of the kitchen shut. She’d only had to chase off on hunter, who thankfully hadn’t wanted to risk the wrath of a hot to the face.

Stirring it all together her mind drifted to why she was making the cooking. Or rather for who. She was still unsure how he made her feel, but hey, if could make him something he liked… then she’d be happy.

Jason was still in the process of learning how to cook for himself, and taking lessons from Ofelia was surely improving his own abilities and skills. However, it wasn't a Thursday night, and he was still pretty keen to do some cooking. So holding a recipe book under one arm, he walked to the kitchens prepared to make himself a meal.

However, what he hadn't expected was to be someone else in the kitchen. And that someone to be covered in flower and wearing a apron that was much to large for her.

Memories of his last encounter flooded his mind, and he made a rather impressive stumble out of the kitchen. He had a feeling that he knew what Solia was making, and he didn't want to upset her by walking in on her cooking.

The stumble had her looking over, batter forgotten in favor of making sure whoever it was hadn’t taken a nasty fall. After all, kitchens could be rather dangerous, even for hunters. When she saw who it was how ever- “Uh-“ Her face went cherry red. “What are you doing here Jason?” Aside from probably wanting to cook something for himself. “You uh… didn’t see anything did you?” If he did… She’d just need to think of something else for him for Christmas.

“Not that it involves you. Or. Um. Anything. Yeah.”

From outside the kitchen opening, a gloved hand appeared holding a book that was titled '500 easy to make meals'. "I was...going to practice cooking some meals." came Jason's voice from somewhere behind it. "I also have no idea what you're doing in there. None at all." Which totally implied that he did know, but he was willing to play stupid.

Zanthvos was just sighing, not sure weather he should be laughing or pitting his poor misguided hunter. He decided to do both.

Rushing back to her dough, Solia attempted to hide just exactly the yet to be baked cookies. Sadly, leaving the dough unattended was likely going to result in it getting eaten, and she-
Why not let him see it?
Israfel sighed in her head, phantom wings brushing her face in her mind’s eye.
He saw already, and if he asks, they are simply not for him. It’s not even close to the holiday, these were just made for personal pleasure.
Solia frowned. She didn’t want to lie, much less to Jason. Plus she knew that if he caught on and teased her she’d just turn into a mass of embarrassment.

Why did guys have to make things complicated?

He couldn't be sure, but Jason had a hunch Solia would be trying to hide the evidence, so he stayed outside trying to figure out how he could stay oblivious and not offend her.

"...So...Umm... how long have you been cooking for?"

He was really grasping at straws at the moment.

(AUGH SRRY MY POST WAS LIKE TERRIBAD OTL)

Meekly, head poked out from the kitchen. “Uh…. One second.” Rushing back, there was a clatter as she shoved the dough into a cabinet, covering it with a cloth. Hopefully it would be fine. Hopefully. Again, brown hair and pink face poked out, eyes adverted. “A few years. Culinary and home economics… it was mostly how to be a good housewife 101.” She inched from the door frame, gesturing that he could join her.

“I made a bit of a mess but uh-“ flour was on the ground, as well as a bit of sugar and other things. Nothing too large, but enough to slip if you ran. “It’s fun, classes taught me a lot, even if they had a sexist base. Guys could take mechanics and girls could take home ec. If we wanted a trade off…” She sighed. “So hard. But um, if you want cooking help..” She inched towards him.

“I could help you?” I just have some uh, things to bake. Later.”

With a nod, Jason waited some more listening calmly to the clanging coming from the other room. When Solia appeared again, he gave her his awkward smile and walked into the kitchen. There was some mess on the floor but it didn't worry him in the slightest, He was pretty sure he'd make a similar mess if he was cooking with flour.

"That doesn't sound fair." He replied with a frown. "You should be able to take mechanics as well. There's no reason why you shouldn't be able to." Considering there were plenty of women here who had bigger figurative balls then him could fight just as well if not better then the men, he saw no reason why someone like Solia couldn't learn about mechanics.

When asked if he would like some help with cooking, Jason nodded. "That would be great, thanks." He might have been receiving lessons from Ofelia, but he could get more lessons from other people too. Especialy Solia

A man after her heart. She thought the same way. “It was traditional gender role style courses. They happened. Not much I could do about them but try to appeal.” Blushing she realized something. This was the first time that they might not risk any accidents. Just… normal hanging out. Be near him and just see if the cookies were worth it and if he might like them.

Walking next to him she leaned a bit closer to him. “What are you making? I am good with baking but I’m also good with my hands for detail work and um-“ Looking up, she blushed, fingers tangling in the apron she wore. “Just tell me what you want and I’ll do my best.” Why she got flustered around him was getting harder and harder for her to pinpoint. Maybe if he hadn’t come in when she was baking for him but still. Feelings.

It might have taken Jason a while to formulate a answer to her question. For while he did have a answer, he was having trouble trying to talk as the voice in his head had demanded his attention.

And no matter how many times he tried to tel him to shut his mental mouth, nothing was going to stop him.

It didn't help that she was blushing and asking him what he wanted. Just watching her made him blush. And Zanth was doing his usual 'I will make this 100 times more awkward' thing. Eventually though, he swallowed, force himself to focus and-

"M....uffins." He croaked out. There, he had successfully managed to not make himself look like a a*****e.

She was only better at it because she wasn’t trying too hard really. If she went up against Zanth, most likely she’d miss half of what he said, and what she said as well. At Jason’s stuttered reply, she looked up at him before nodding. “Muffins are simple. I- I can get the flour. And um, eggs. Do you need butter? Milk? Uh, what kind sorry I’m getting ahead of myself. Just-“

She motioned to the book in his hands. “I can do whatever you need. Just tell me what you want and I’ll give it to you okay?” She smiled, Israfel chirping with glee as she got a bit more confident. “I just had a lot of stuff out, so I know where everything is. It’ll be no big deal for me to pull it out again, or to grab this or that.”

No idea.

Oh, right, he had the book didn't he? In flurry of action that would make one wonder if the moon trainee had any hand coordination at all, he opened the book to a page about blueberry muffins. He wasn't even sure if this was what he wanted to make in the first place. But it was best to keep things simple because he wasn't going to have much brain processing power at the moment.

And.....Holy mother of god did she really just-

Nope, Jason was done. He was gone, his mind providing him some lovely images of just 'what he wanted', according to Zanth. Thankfully he had a book to hid his red-face in while he listed off the ingredients in a strangled voice.

"A-ah, Self raising flour, caster sugar, milk, eggs, vegetable oil, brown sugar, vanilla extract and frozen blueberries...t-those are the ingredients..."

His fumbling was met with a small smile from Solia, pink cheeks forming ah he found what he was going to need. At least what she thought he needed at any rate. “Ah, okay, not that hard.” His voice got a small bit of concern, hoping she hadn’t done something wrong, said something wrong. Her own ignorance aside, she did want to help him, and just be useful. Jason was nice to her, sincere in her opinion, and really-

She had yet to admit she was infatuated with him, even if Israfel kept asking and telling her she acted like it when she attempted to deny it.

Sliding for a second on the floor, she managed to get to the pantry, pulling down the flour, sugar, oil, she actually didn’t know if they had any frozen blueberries. That would be important. Eggs they had, milk as well. But she didn’t see any fresh blueberries. No backups incase the frozen were out. Bending over as she pulled open the fridge, she began to fish around. “Ah! One bag left! Anything else you need?” Aside from Solia realizing she was being the cause of his distress.

In the time it took for her to find all the ingredients, Jason had managed to regain composure. Enough so he could put down the book and focus on grabbing the utensils he would need, such as a baking tray and a bowl and-

Jason had managed to turn around just at the right time to see Solia bend down. And while he couldn't' see anything (thank the lord, because he didn't want to look up her skirt okaymaybehewantedto- NO HE DIDN'T SHUT UP ZANTH)

"I...think we're good now...just gotta start mixing things together and preheating the oven..."

His life was a sitcom.

His speech had her wondering a bit, giving Jason a slightly curious look. He didn’t appear to be unwell or have any type of fever, nor was he stuttering or letting out a string of apologies. Setting the berries down she leaned close to him again, trying to read over his shoulder. It was hard. Height, curse ye, even if the tall man was handsome and sweeter than sugar. “Just dry ingredients then add wet followed by the berries?” She wanted to be sure. “Or do we need to cream the butter first? If so, do you want me to cream, oil up, or heat it up.” She motioned to the ingredients, the pan, then the oven as she spoke.

There was a sitcom, then there was Solia, queen of things she didn’t realize she was saying.

“I’m sure when we’re done, the muffins will be nice and puffy and delicious!”

Never getting it.
