Looking for a match on vassal its essentially an online version of warhammer with its own dice rolling system and such. It is exactly the same as tabletop save for a few things. I am thinking around 1500 to 2000 points? If anyone does not know the program or is interested i will explain it more in detail and provide links.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSgMV8Ls3l4no idea of the content of this video but i see something i recognize. ANYWAYS. Vassal is essentially a program that allows a look down view of character models which allows you to move them around and use dice and such, i have seen it used for D&D and other tabletop games as well. Vassal 40k is the warhammer version. if you would like to get on skype perhaps and experiment it would be very fun.

I've used it and still have it installed (though my computer is about to be on it's way back to Dell for a fix-er-up), but I thought GW put the stomp on it a couple years ago. Did it ever get updated for the newer codices, let alone 6th ed rules?

personally i find it interesting, something i may have to look into at some point when my internet improves...
i've been out of matches for 40k for too long and have need to update my lists as well as try a few lists out that i've been meaning to test out due to uncertainty on how well they would hold out in an actual fight.

That's more or less how I used it, it's great for testing lists when you're unsure of what units to go out and buy.

I used it for perfecting any rules, and yes it was technically "stamped out" however they are still releasing unofficial updates based on my knowledge of it. I am not completely sure. But i know that there have been additions.
In any case. I just need a better chance to play 6th edition, other than simply watching battle reports, and at this point i am actually required to teach 3 different people 6th edition when my understanding of it is fairly minimal.

i'd be quick to assist in that endeavor to understand sixth edition but sadly due to the price tag on it i have yet to get a copy of it, i'm still grounded in fifth edition rules... sadly sad

DE and I used to play a round or two a week through Vassal. As for it not being "fully up to date," there are enough models in the old files to proxy stuff in and tag it with notes.

I think the last time the 40k pack file for it was updated was last year or so? As Cale said though, stuff with notes works just fine.

I just recently moved to the UK and haven't been able to get to my models in a while. I will be trying to visit a GW store in Cambridge to get a new rulebook, but I am still interested to test my IG armies.

Cambridge and Norwich are the only closest GW stores for me to visit.
