Topic of the week for 12/9

What was the biggest racing thing that surprised you in 2012? Any series.

Lets see for me it would be
F1- That the American race didnt end up getting nixed and that Lewis will now be with Mercedes... I honestly felt that somehow he would still stay with the team.

Nascar- Eldora getting the green light for 2013, the surprise of how lack luster the season races were, the resurgence of MWR, Ryan Blaney, and that Pocono ended up being a more action packed race than the majority of races.

IRL- Lets face it...we all suspected engine woes all year round with the new engine deals... but the short track throwback of heat races at Texas is what really grabbed me. Kudos IRL

Sports Car- FINALLY THEY HAVE REALIZED THEIR MISTAKE AND HAVE MERGED THE 2 SERIES...THANK YOU GOD.... sadly It wont take affect till 2014 crying

Matt kenseth leaving roush was a little surprising. Brad keselowski actually winning the championship was surprising.
-non NASCAR related I'm glad to see that the v8 supercar series will race in America next year. I wonder if some NASCAR drivers will participate if able.

So far the only names being tossed around are Stewart and Ambrose. Stewart has been contacted by a team already to see if he wants to run the race. Ambrose is trying to get connects through Ford for a shot at the race. No word yet if either deal will go through.

I thought AJ Allmendinger was going to emerge as a force. As it was, he was pretty lackluster in the races he ran with Penske and on top of it, lost his ride in probably one of the stupidest decisions he could have made.

One word. "Kenseth" cry

Anyway, I caught a glimpse of the future. A vision came to me the other day. The "Curse of the 22" is going to catch up with Joey Logano and he'll be caught hotboxing the 22 car during a race and when he comes down pit road smoke will roll out of his drivers window and when his crew chief panically asks where all the smoke is coming from the 14 car will drive by and Joey will be like, "Uh...Smokes not here man...there he goes!!!!" then mash the gas, knock the car off the jack and try to drive away with two wheels. xd

Then Roger Penske kills Joey with fire shooting from his eyes because he's so mad.

I think the biggest surprise for me was Dale Jr. sitting out two races during the chase for his concussion. I think it was the right decision, but it still floored me that he gave up a chance at the title over this. Granted, it was a longshot, but still.
