Topic of the week for 12/2: As far as I can remember F1 hasn't had a strong following here, and the 2005 farce only made things worse. Now they are back in Austin Texas with a very nice circuit. Do you think that F1 can establish/reestablish itself in the United States?

We have had great venues ..but other than Watkins Glen I dont think we have ever been able to hold a F1 race for more than 6 years consecutively ... Detroit did well from a manufacture standpoint... but that was short lived. Phoenix, Dallas, and Long Island were literally in my opinion the WORST road courses ever constructed in USA. However this time I think we have a winner...The Austin track is well built and due to it being a closed circuit we wont have to deal with city officials trying to screw over the FIA. Also unlike with the issues of the Phoenix and Dallas races... this race is being held in the fall so there wont be any complaints about it being too hot for both the cars and the fans. The only real issue I see is $$$ not being able to have a title sponsor for these races is really going to strain the fiances for the owners of Austin. I think as long as the track owners can find funding to run other series on the track in 2014 with either IRL or the new grand am series being formed in 2014 then it will work out. Hopefully even Nascar will run there too biggrin In this day and age... American fans arent against road course racing as they were in the 1920's and 1990's...so there is an actual fan base in America who truly wants to see the F1.

Actually I like it. I Think it will probally have a Nissian Majority sponser at ssomepoint. Dallas Is a while away but, Still Close for the corporate sponsershit. That is my opnion. I would like to go to the F1 Race If not same weekends as Nascar. But, Not bad I think IT would be good. Maybe a Double bill maybe even a triple bill. Indy-F1-Nascar same track same weekend. I think that would be the perfect situation. Indy Is struggling Nascar is Mericain So why not have a trade off?

I hope it sticks. Circuit of the Americas really seems like a world-class venue. They're adding more than F1 racing too. Grand Am is going there, and V8 Supercars are coming up too! I really want to go to that race.
