Rory huffed as he dropped his book on a table far, far away from everyone else in the library. The last thing he wanted was for someone to see him meeting up with one of them. Not only would his reputation be damaged, but word would get back to his father and he would make his life hell. Even if the meeting was for a good cause. He sat there at the table, drumming his fingers, as he waited for the Ravenclaw to arrive.

Gwen did her best to finish her homework and get away as quick as she could. She was supposed to be tutoring one of the Slytherin boys in the library soon. She quickly grabbed her potions book and made her way to the library. When she got there, she looked over the tables and didn’t see the dark blond boy anywhere, until she looked off a bit towards the back and saw someone waving to her. She nodded and headed in his direction.

As she walked over to him, Rory got himself situated with his quill, ink pot, and parchment. As much as he wanted to put up a front that he didn’t care, he really wanted to pass the class. The only way he would be able to get anywhere near passing was if he got help. So it had to be a mixed blood from the Ravenclaw house; his dad didn’t need to know. He nodded to her as she sat down.

She nodded in return and sat down across from him, opening the book to the chapter she knew had the potion they all were supposed to be working on. “This one, right?”

Rory followed suit and opened his own copy of the book to the page she was on. “The Forgetfulness potion,” he pointed to the page and nodded. “I can never remember what I’m supposed to use for it and which goes first.”

Gwen scanned the page of the book that the recipe for the potion was located on. Thankfully this would help her prepare to brew it successfully in class as well. “Just remember water, sprigs, and mistletoe,” she told him, “start with the water and let it brew but not for long. Then the sprigs and wave your wand after stirring.”

As she was speaking, Rory was writing everything down. “Right. Water, brew. Sprigs, wand. Then add the mistletoe?”

Gwen shook her head. “Not right away. It has to be left to brew for about 95 minutes and you have to add the standard ingredient before you add the mistletoe berries. And only add four or it won’t come out right. Then add a bit of the ground powder and remember to stir it five times, counter clock wise. Clock wise won’t work. Then another wave of the wand and you’re done.”

Rory nodded his head as he quickly wrote down everything she had said and hoped he had gotten it all. This would be much easier to read and hopefully understand than the textbook. He nodded one more time to her. “Thanks,” he said quietly, “you’re not so bad for a mixed blood.”
