Quote: Survey Mission 4CLocation: San Zhi Resort Images:: x, x, x. General debriefing: There has been the stirring of something that scares even the locals: a rumour has it that in the evening, the lights turn on several of the odd pod-like buildings. Music can be heard from within before the light flickers off. This investigation must happen, due to this claim, in the evening after dark. * C class difficulty level (must have a team of three, at least one of them must be an intermediate trainee) MECHANICS * MECHANICS: RP assembling a team, as necessary, before heading towards the Lighthouse portal to request a portal to Survey Mission 4C. Once there, roll a 100-sided dice and match the roleplay to the results below, as well as any reactions. Players can continue rolling until any of the players roll a INSANITY ENCOUNTER, in which case the BATTLE PHASE begins. See below for battle phase mechanics. 1- 20: The darkness combined with the fog make it extremely difficult to navigate. As you move your flashlight against the ground all you see is the crackled pavement, the pods obscured from sight - - As a skeletal face carved right into the cement leers at you - - And disappears. It was just your imagination... right? 21 - 40: Tattered pieces of fabric seem to be hanging from a few smashed windows. Upon further investigation you realize it is actually strips of skin peeled off some hapless creature. 41 - 60: You take a look at the pods again. They look normal enough, though none of them have the odd flickering light. Well that's a relief. A strange jarring noise interrupts you and as you look back, the order of the pods have changed, from location to colour. 61 - 80: You hear music playing in the background, a sort of wailing, foreign music. It seems to be coming from right above you, but nothing is there. Only you can hear it. 81- 100: BOSS ENCOUNTER: - As you continue walking down the sidewalk you hear a large crack, followed by another. A strange gas explodes from underneath, making you extremely dizzy, as you cough to figure out what is going on, fighting for air now. You have exposed your entire team to a hallucinogen, making everything more terrifying than ever as your vision swims and hops uncontrollably and your hearing becomes muted. Something creaks, groans, lurches underneath you, but is that your imagination? - BOSS MECHANICS: This boss is a mob that has collective 100 HP. Every time you attack it (following the general battle rules), you TAKE 8 damage. AS you can't really see the boss, most of it will have to be dependent on what you can see, if anything at all, from strange faceless figures lurching, half-hopping towards you to the smiling dead coming back and swiping at you. Make sure to tally the boss's total HP (the damage you did to it) at the bottom of your post as well as your total HP and the damage you did that round. If the boss's HP hits 0, you have defeated it, and your team can now take the portal back. * 4 mission reward points for completing this successfully

Another day another investigation. Things had returned to ... unsettled normalcy after Caelius' little temper tantrum. With Wilson, Lex and Eva secured, Ami could at least breath easy knowing they were okay. Kat was still a mystery though. Where had Caelius taken the girl and Ryan? Honestly, Ami assumed the worst and it still didn't sit with her right.
It wasn't like she could sit and mope though. No, a hunter never had time for that. She came knocking on Wilson's door, waiting for him to respond. "Wilson? Are you in?" she asked timidly. Hopefully he wasn't too busy. She was coming over rather unannounced, after all.
At the same time, she sent Sasha a text. Might as well bring along another lifer. One she could trust, anyways. Text to Sasha It's been switched around a little, and I actually need your help this time. Would you mind meeting me at the portals for a little ... adventure?

Sasha got Ami's text, and a smile crept across her lips as she quickly responded. A portal? ********. Yes. Text to Ami I am so ready to get off of this rock that even adventure sounds good. I'll meet you there. Not long later, the life intermediate was milling around the portals, waiting for Ami to show up. She was excited to finally be doing something useful that didn't involve books, notes, and minipets. This would be a welcome change.

After the meeting, he had stayed and watched. If Ami wanted, she could ask Wilson. Where did Kat and Ryan go? To the Sahara, but would the blond really want to know that the two would be stuck wandering the desert, without weapons and at the mercy of the horsemen?
He sprung to life when he heard the knocking. “Yeah,” he answered, rolling off the bed and briefly smoothing out the wrinkles of his hunter coat. Wilson opened the door, eyed Ami. He scrutinized her before taking out his phone and scrolling through the messages. “Let me guess, a mission?” He stepped outside and let the door click closed. “Lead the way.”

"I would like to-"
Wilson already knew and was walking ahead of her. A tiny pout crossed her face, but she quickly caught up with him, taking two steps for every one of his. "Err ... yes. Some resort or another. I can explain when we're at the portals with Sasha ..."
So they walked. Once at the portals, Ami gave Sasha an acknowledging wave and then explained the resort, the flashing lights. "So ... yeah. Sorry to call you out so late, but apparently it only happens at night." She shrugged her gun holsters up a little higher and said, "Are you two ready?"

Sasha flashed Wilson a small smile before nodding at Ami.
"Ready. And excited."
Probably a little too excited.

As they arrived at the portals, Wilson returned Sasha's smile. He looked at the portals before turning toward Ami. "Lead the way, captain." The hunter took a thoughtful pause.

Ami wasn't sure what to make of Sasha's over eagerness, but even Ami had to admit she had her moments where she needed to get off the island and go shopping. Everybody had those days.
Wilson calling her captain filled her with a bit of confidence, and she stepped through the portal.
It was dark on the island, but that was to be expected of nighttime. This was irregular though. It was a solid darkness, one that almost seemed impenetrable. If it wasn't for the flashlight in front of her, she would have lost the path altogether.
She gasped loudly as a face appeared on the path in front of her. The face in the cement disappeared in a blink, and Ami shook her head. It was nothing. "Sorry, sorry," she mumbled to the others. "False alarm."

As she stepped through the portal, Sasha took a few moments to peer around their destination. "People lived here?" It was hard for her to fathom. Everything looked so alien and odd. The harsh cover of night wasn't doing anything to help, either - it made everything look twice as eerie as it already was. When Ami gasped, Sasha turned to give her a concerned glance. Reassured that everything was fine, Sasha turned back to the window she'd been peering through. The fabric in the window fluttered, and as Sasha turned to get a better look, she realized that what she was looking at was not fabric, but skin. "Oh. Oh God." It was dark, but Wilson could still make out the dim shapes of the pods. “Interesting architecture,” he murmured as he followed the other two. He trailed behind the other two hunters, his flashlight idly wandering around the resort. When Wilson heard Ami gasp, he turned toward her, but said nothing as she reassured them. “If you insist,” he mumbled.
“What is it?” He strode toward Sasha, but froze when he heard a large crack. “Crap.” Another crack caused him to frantically step away, but it wasn’t enough to escape the cloud of gas billowing around him. He leaned over as he fell into a coughing fit. Wilson tried to reach for his goggles. “Mask...Need my mask.” He groped around for it as his vision swam and everything sounded so far away.

Her hand went up to her mouth as she stared at the skin Sasha had discovered. It was absolutely disgusting, horrid even. The people here had every right to be scared- especially when something as disgusting as that was being hung from the windows. Still, it wasn't anything worth investigating. Creature skins weren't exactly supernatural, any hunter could just have weird decor taste.
Ami watched it all in slow motion from behind Wilson. The crack, the gas. She immediately leapt forward, trying to help Wilson with his mask, but a rock caught her foot.
Immediately there was motion around her, blurred figures dancing in front of her as her head swam in nauseating time. "Wilson?" she called out, firing her gun at the figures. "Did you get your mask--"

Sasha gagged silently as she reeled backwards, choking on the odd gas that had ruptured from beneath Wilson's feet. This felt eerily familiar, and not in a way that Sasha appreciated. There were figures swarming around her in such a way that took her immediately back to the Lair - only then, it had been bugs, and thankfully this time around there were no such horrors. Just endless faces, swirling and amassing around her. Sasha swung Nona wildly, connecting with something. "Everyone okay?" Quote: HP: 42/50 DMG: 8 BOSS HP: 84/100 CHG: /3 || 2/2

Finally his hands grasped the goggle strap and pulled it off his neck. In seconds, Wilson felt the reassuring weight of his cannons. He coughed a couple times before he managed to stop. “I’m fine. I got it. What about you two…?” Just before he lifted a cannon, he eyed the figures swirling around him in lazy circles. Wilson narrowed his eyes and watched the dark shapes float across his vision. He tried blinking to ward them away, but they refused to disappear. “Is it just me, or are there things walking around now?” he asked softly before bashing them on the heads.

Ami shoved Wilson to the side, taking aim and shooting a monster that had been inches from his face. "Yeah, and they're not here to welcome us!" she said, shooting another one.
She had to steady herself on Wilson's shoulder though. This gas made her woozy, her eyes and head spinning as she tried to steady herself. She pulled her scarf up, trying to block out the gas as she continued to cough. "Sasha?!" Where was she? Was the girl okay? All she could see was fuzzy shapes and all she heard was muffled voices.

"I'm fine! I'm fine, I'm fine," Sasha rasped loudly, swinging out with Nona again. Everything was swimming in her vision, a blur of faces and shapes but nothing that she could make out. Nonetheless, Sasha made contact once more, letting out a low hiss as something retaliated, slashing against her hip.
"Is everyone holding up?"
She wasn't sure if they were going to manage. Nona was a piercing shriek in her mind, demanding and hungry and wanting. So close to her charge, tantalizingly so.
