Once the Touching had finished word about the clutches was all over the Weyr. The candidates of course had got up close and personal but plenty of people had managed to get a peek one way or another, mainly from the Stands.

Z'iv was not a man to pass up the opportunity at a quick mark and - pleased at some ambition - Zetath had actually encouraged him to organize and run books on egg betting. Though rather lazy Z'iv was bright enough, and when something did manage to catch his interest he was willing to work at it. He was no expert on betting but he knew somebody who was; a cousin who was still a Trader. This time of year he knew about where the train would be and he and Zetath had located it easily, and then discussed the finer points with the sharp woman. Leaving his kin with a fond hug, a kiss on the cheek and a promise of a ride with Zetath any time she needed it for her trouble, Z'iv headed back to the Weyr and set things up.

A day or two later the sun rose to see a rough booth set up near the dininghall. A banner hung above it bearing the legend:

Z'iv lounged behind the booth in a rickety chair; somehow the way he draped himself back on it made it look as though it had to be as comfortable as a luxurious day-bed. Those who approached were treated to lazy grins, and a smooth tongued patter.

"Morning Sweetheart; interested in making a few marks? Here's how it works; fill out this form with your bets on the colours the dragons will turn out to be, and give me your wager. The odds of each egg for each colour are marked out on the board there, for example the change of the big lime green egg being a green is 50-1. The chance of the gold egg being twins like the mother was is 100-1. Whoever gets the most eggs right over all wins - in addition to all their marks - this firelizard egg I have.... So, are you in or are you out?"



[Welcome to the Iota clutch egg guessing, hosted by the lovely Z'iv! Breaking down his patter and adding OOC details this is how it works:

- Go here to see all the eggs, and their descriptions.
- Decide what colour dragon you think is inside each egg and fill out the form at the bottom of this post.
- Guess only one colour per egg; no green/crimson for example.
- Whoever gets the most right wins a semi custom firelizard. You may choose from: green, black, blue, brown, silver and bronze. Crimson and gold are not options in this instance. The winner should post the colour preference and inspiration (up to three words) in this thread once they are announced.
- Only one set of guesses per player! You can RP here with more than one character, and IC say they handed Z'iv their bet list, but please post only one list yourself.
- Staff can join in the RP for fun, but can't post guesses!

J'nes had been hanging around the Hatching Ground often enough, keeping J'len company while Hyweth watched over her first clutch. He'd often passed the time wondering what was in the eggs, and figured he may as well make some use of that time. He handed in his guesses with a couple marks for a wager.

She had been sort of standing off to the side a little shyly, watching as others approached the stand. Curious, Kodi inched closer to listen as Z'iv explained how the 'game' was run. Well, she... could spare a few marks, right? Maybe. And it was kind of like a puzzle, which made it a little more exciting. Kodi grabbed up a form to fill out, marking carefully what she thought each egg would be before approaching Z'iv. "Here's mine. And my marks." Smiling, she quickly stepped away to listen in on what everyone else was gossiping about.
