It hadn't been very long since Mimi had first put up the mural of Ares, but she couldn't help but feel worried. That particular piece was the first time she really did something that big and she was like a mother that was overprotective of her first child. The feeling of worry nagged at her so often that she gave in, packed up, and got ready to travel through mirrors back to it.
Mimi had kept the stencils for the mural safely in her closet. The colors necessary for it was also kept nearby. She never knew if and when she'd need to repair or add to it, and well... Mimi was forgetful enough and she didn't want to be unprepared as well.
When she felt like everything was prepared, Mimi slipped the backpack on and slung the art tube over one shoulder. She took a deep breath and stepped through the mirror in her room, reappearing in front of the mural.
She was glad to see that it was not touched. Of course, there would be natural wear, but Mimi didn't mind repairing that. What would boil her blood was if someone decided to put their artwork on top of hers. She had spent weeks looking for that spot. "Ugh. People better find their own canvases!"
Mimi put down her bag and tube and started to work. There were bits that could need just a little bit of touching up, but her stress was relieved standing there. No one touched her baby.

The most exciting part of the enlisted ranks seemed so far to be the lack of needing a gym membership to become Ray Ewry and Peter Parker combined. It made getting past boarded lower floors into the city's dystopic abandoned buildings easier and she'd taken to bringing a small backpack with a camera in it in case she had need of an impromptu shoot, a great angle, or some found art. And it meant one could find art. Derelicts had a habit of attracting taggers mostly and in rare, glorious instances, actual graffiti artists. It was so close to installation art in a way, certainly large scale and bold. Practicing her cricket from building to building, she hadn't expected, still, a full portrait. The click of her heels was only the moment of her landing on the level with the piece, looking at the painted woman with interest long before her eyes trailed to the varied browns of living hair and limbs, Schörl finally blinked. She didn't immediately approach, keeping the distance of the edge to the wall between them while she called over confidently, "Yours?"

Mimi had noticed the approaching energy of a Negaverse officer, but had, for the most part, kept working. She thought that they'd just leave her be, but when she heard someone talk, Mimi paused her restoration and looked at the woman. It was surprising to see that the woman was actually looking at her mural. She wasn't sure if it was good or bad in the woman's eyes, but Mimi was happy that someone was actually looking.
"Yes, it is mine, Miss," Mimi said and gave the woman a small curtsy. She then pointed towards one of the small symbols on the side, the nightshade flower next to a pink and purple heart. "It's not much of a signature, but the Nightshade represents me, since I am the Senshi of Nightshade."
"Mimistrobell is my name," she told the woman as she gave another small curtsy. "I'm glad you're at least... Looking at my work. I can't tell if you particularly like it or not, but I'm grateful none-the-less. It's relatively new, but I kept getting worried that others would color over it so I came back earlier than I intended."
She had thought coming her once a month to restore it would be enough, but now it seemed like Mimi would come whenever she felt too worried.

A senshi then...and so she knew a little better how to define the odd feel so close...the tangible aura. True auras. It gave credence to all those lessons of 氣 during meditations. "Come un raggio di sole hai illuminato la mia vita!*" "Bella donna...who beautifies the eyes....seduces the souls of men and women with her dark wiles. How you paint the world should enchant the senses with all the promises of the Fates." "But......you mistake, with this beautiful woman. She is not bold enough, not glorified enough.. You betray your love for her. Here you have a whole canvas, but you make your piece so small. Why this wall, so hidden...so uncelebrated..? You should be doing this on the side of this whole building." *like a ray of light you have brightened my life.

Mimi was confused at what the woman was talking about at first, but when she spoke in words that she did understand, Mimi flushed, both in happiness that she appreciated as well as in shame for not doing it bigger. At first, she wasn't sure what to say, but then she shook off the negative feelings. This seemed like a critique to Mimi and it would only help her in the long run.
"I'm glad you like it.. At least, I think you like it?" She gave the woman a warm smile despite the flush on her face.
"I... Think the reason why it's not bigger is because it was my first piece--" She paused, thinking if she should reveal her secret. "I was afraid of messing it up or making Ares look ugly if it were any bigger... Location wise, I was more afraid of picking a popular spot to have other um... 'artists' ruin it."
She wasn't sure what to say more than that. It was true; Mimi probably could have done more. However, Mimi knew that in the future, her pieces would grow in size and intricacy. At least, she hoped.

"Ah, I hear words truth, and that is good. But I hear words there that are very bad. You consider yourself an artist?" She was blushing at a single instance of compliment, admitted this was her first. This was a delicat point of time. Painfully delicate. Like the Medici who took Michelangelo in, who corrected his proportion and the studio and the boy destroyed it in a fit, it was important how the corrections and critique were given with the tempermental kind. Done right they would soar. Schorl gave the girl the time to answer, but she could guess the answers. She knew the succession she would ask to encourage it be the girls own realisations. "Paint covers paint, right?" "And what is the statement you have with this? Is it made so small?" if plan is to use the whole canvas anyway, and paint covers paint, then you can repaint over screwups and need not fear them. They are process, the are learning. They are not barriers

Mimi's face flushed some more. "I.. I consider myself one, but it's mostly just my parents that know of my work." She paused again. "I recently put this up and recently hired to work on something for a skate store." It wouldn't seem like much to others, but Mimi smiled, proud of herself.
"I hope for it to be the first of many," she told the Negaverse officer, unsure of what she'd think of that. "I hope that my skills improve enough so that I can eventually make a wall feel like my Queen was popping out of it." It was a bold statement, but that was what she wanted.
When Mimi was asked what the statement was, at first, she was unsure of how to respond. There was a long silence in between the two before Mimi spoke again. "Ares gave me a purpose. I wanted to give thanks to her in some way, and I guess this was my attempt..."

' mostly just my parents' She was young, ever so young and tender, then. But rumor was the same for most of the Senshi. The extended youth of the modern era making it no more easy for them to adapt to the ideals of war, no doubt. But in midst of war here was also a creative stroke. "Ambition is excellent in art. So is being realistic, and knowing your level, and what you are capable of reaching and-" she punctuated the words by crossing the steps and slapping her palm against a section of unpainted wall, "grasping." "Your queen..." Lieutenant Schörl turned most of her attention to what was complete and staring back at them both. No black bursts, dark colors, no energetic freak out. It was the first aura she'd felt other than the Negaverse itself. It didn't leave many options, still, among the possibilities. But wasn't that one titled a princess? Weren't they all pretty pretty princesses? "This might be one of the first thank-you's to a monarch involving graffiti as portraiture. But that isn't bad. Different is good." "Still...you are too modest with it. It is Graffiti, bella, it is private yes, but it is public still. Whether of not true isn't the point, but I have an anecdote for you. Banksy was abroad and painting on the West Bank barrier. An old Palestinian man came up to him and said it was beautiful. Banksy thanked the man, but the man held up his hand and said , 'We don't want it to be beautiful, we hate this wall. Go home.'.....graffiti is public. If what you paint is altered by others...that is how it should be. It is Graffiti. It is alive. It is in public space and part of public identity. It is your art and your idea only to begin, and then it grows. It should flourish from its idea and become a thing in the minds of all who look at it. But you must make it bold enough, large enough, and beautiful enough for that to begin with. To give this idea of thanks to this woman into the mind of all who see it. " "This is a sketch. Like the masters made before the real thing. Let it be just that. Let it be here, start again. Start again tonight with your paint on the whole side over there and do not fear mistake or people making changes later. "

"Haha." Mimi smiled at the her. "Well, I don't expect her to see it. I know she's busy. Not exactly sure with what, but it's probably trivial to someone like her." Though, Mimi still hoped that, if she ever saw it, she would like it, even just a little bit.
She couldn't help but look at her mural while the officer spoke. Although she knew that it was true that graffiti art was also the stuff that other people added to it, it made Mimi a little bit sad if that happened. She appreciated the art of others, but... There were things that she knew people could do to change the meaning. "What if... White Mooners changed it? Like... Added some 'devil horns' to her head or something."
Mimi frowned. It was kind of selfish of her not to make it somewhere more known, but some alterations would cause her to get mad and frustrated. She didn't think that making the mural bigger would be a bad thing though. Only difference is that.. She couldn't use her stencils.
Well, she'd have to branch out eventually, right?
"What if.... What if I made it so large it would be hard for someone to cover up her glory?"

"What if they do? Sit over it like an egg then, but that isn't what art is meant for, nor artists, unless you want to go back on your earlier statement. Think, girl. What is it when a person creates day in and day out but shows it to no one? Therapy. Not art. Just therapy. Just a hobby. " White mooners used as a perjorative....yes, this was one of those strange senshi. The ones with the eyeballs and the mirrors that there was cursory brief about. Allies not meant to be attacked."The child and the maiden and the crone. The child cannot stand to let the bird from their hand. Selfish she holds onto it until it starves or suffocates. The maiden cages the bird, that it will only sing for her. It sings only one song. The wise old woman leaves the birds to the trees, learns their songs and sings with them. Lo', they come to her hand and the music and wonder they wrought together! See, see girl." "Do not be a child. Not unless-" And Schörl's lips spread slow into a wide smile, "Strategically. Is it well known what she looks like, your queen? Would she be recognized by many that they would see it and think to deface it? Or just a few choice ....important people? Bait to the mouse and wait as cat for them. To paint and deface, their backs must be turned, must they not? What then? Where will you be? You could be waiting and have yourself a pretty time, deadly fate. Atropos belladonna." "Capture, maim, kill, repurpose. Any are possible, if you think the lure could really work. Why fear the defacement instead of making use of it?" And can all queens not also be the devil? We are all become the Arverni, the Iceni, the Gauls. We are Sparta. We fight superior forces and firepower, what disrespect is it that you find in lionization? Demonization? To every monarch that rules is both the Right Hand of the Sun and the Left Hand of Darkness.

The Negaverse officer's words pierced Mimi's heart just a bit. It wasn't like she'd break down from the words, but instead, the truths that she heard... She felt like she forgot so much and was more disappointed with herself than anything. "She's right..."
"I think... Most know of how she look like? I'm not completely sure, but it seems like, besides the newly awaken, they should know her?" Though, Mimi was unsure of how far back would be considered 'new'. She counted herself as new, and the ones that were awaken after her as new. Mimi didn't know the inner workings of Ares' day to day life so couldn't account for if she made herself known on some days.
Even Mimi hadn't seen her since the day she was awakened.
It was hard for Mimi to take in all of what she was saying, but at the same time understood the reasoning behind all of it. Though there was one part that she could not grasp. "I want to protect it... Capturing I might be able to, but even then it I think I'd need more power first. But killing someone?"
"You make me want to make a bigger one somewhere where everyone can see it... But like I could attack someone, I could be attacked too, right? I think I'd need to get stronger so I can protect myself before I attempt something that big and bold..."

"You have your paint here now. You have a lookout. What more do you need? " Schörl gave a flourish, "I will watch while you paint." "Between the two of us, I expect would shouldn't have much trouble. "

Mimi didn't want to discredit the officer, but if an eternal White Mooner came by, she'd think the both of them would be toast. It didn't seem like the Nega was much stronger herself, but... That was definitely not the only reason.
She looked over at the stuff she had brought. In her backpack, there was only really enough to touch up the one she already had up. Mimi hadn't bought new supplies; she had only brought what was left over from putting it up in the first place. Since she was a perfectionist then, she had used up most of it. Even now, Mimi would probably need extra.
With her eyes closed, she tried to think of a solution. Mimi knew that, with what was in her bag, she could very much do a sketch on the wall at the least, but she didn't know when the both of them could meet up again to complete the task. Mimi had to buy more paint as well as possibly coming up with something more daring and bold. She opened her eyes again ad pulled out her cellphone.
"I.. I don't think I'm ready to do this yet, supplies-wise. What I have here is leftovers from before and not fresh cans. I don't want to leave things half done, so I was wondering if we could exchange contacts and maybe meet up in a later date?" Mimi felt weird offering out her information to the officer, but it felt right at the same time. This was the first time she was making an acquaintance in the art world.
"I also feel like I should thank you, Miss... Uhm.. Sorry, but I don't think I ever caught your name? But yes... Your words meant a lot to me." Mimi gave the officer a meek smile.

"Four years Buonarroti stood and turned his face and brush to God, a halved house and wars interrupted before the work was finished...but...As you will, if it makes you nervous, Bella. I am no master over you or your Muse." "Schörl. I have a prepaid no contract, if you would like. I keep odd, long hours, so don't worry about politeness conventions and all that 'after 10' business. " She pulled it out from inside her waistcoat, navigated to the info screen and offered it over, " By all means."

Mimi was definitely flustered with all of what was going on. Sometimes she felt confused by Schorl, but the end, Mimi knew that in hear heart, she was more than grateful for what the officer had said. She had finally found someone to work with, someone that would help her improve."Thank you, Miss Schörl, for everything." Mimi gave Schörl a bright smile. "I'll try and contact you soon-ish to work on a bigger piece!"
It was funny how Schörl managed to make Mimi feel bad about practically everything, but Mimi also felt good about parts of it. She knew she would do better. She'd get get everyone to know her work. In the end, it would be thanks to the help in the beginning: Schörl.
She entered her own number into Schörl's phone and then dialed her own phone so that it would have the number stored. "I'll be sure to contact you again soon, promise!"
Mimi wasn't sure if Schörl would like it, but she went over and gave the Negaverse officer a hug. Even to Mimi, whom wasn't a fan of touching others, felt like it was necessary. When she let go, Mimi was still smiling. "This is a small thanks, from me. I'm not sure if you like hugs -- I don't -- but... It just seemed appropriate!"
Waving at Schörl, Mimi bid her farewell. "Goodbye and take care! I shall be seeing you again soon, I hope!" Mimi walked through the hidden mirror across from where the mural was and disappeared, reappearing back at her dorm room. It was an odd night for Mimi, with both good and bad emotions, but... It would pay off, eventually!Ivynian (( I think this is Mimi's last post! ))
