Name:
Renio
Age: 14
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Craft/Rank: N/a
History: Renio was born into a crowded, noisy family with ten older siblings and one younger. Their family farmed land at a small cothold beholden to Eron Hold, and for the most part his life was structured but decent. Though his parents had a lot of mouths to feed, they handled the burden well.

Renio rarely had alone time. He didn’t mind, but it did make him a bit attention starved. It’s hard to talk over eleven other children trying to do the same thing, but instead of giving up Renio decided he would out talk them all. Talk talk talk talk was all he did, and parents didn’t much notice or discourage it because they’d learn to drown it out long before Renio was even born. Because of such a large family, Renio’s sense of privacy and personal space never really developed.

When he was 12, while accompanying his father to Eron Hold for a supplies run, Renio met a dragonrider from Trine Weyr. It was his first time meeting a dragonrider, and though the bluerider was certainly very busy, he patiently listened to the young boy’s twenty thousand and one questions. It’s a small wonder that he was able to get Renio to stop talking long enough to tell him that his dragon thought he’d make an excellent Candidate.

It was such an amazing surprise – none of his siblings had ever been Searched! The rider allowed him one last night to say goodbye to his family, before picking him up the next morning. The Weyr was amazing and Renio loved it instantly, even though it was so much different than his tiny cothold. So many people to meet, so many things to learn, and so much to talk about! He adjusted to the move quite easily, all things considered. He was used to doing chores on his family farm, and sharing a dormitory was no different than sharing a bedroom with tons of siblings.

Renio isn’t bothered by the recent influx of refugees, and instead welcomes them. More people for him to talk to! From what he’s been told, the Revolution sounds like a bunch of bullies, but he doesn’t understand the situation enough to form a true opinion.

Description: Renio is an extremely lanky boy. He is tall and thin, so much so that his limbs seem almost gawky and awkward with his body. He’s still young and growing, but in the meantime he looks strange. He seems a tad awkward with himself and his movements, almost like he hasn’t yet gotten a hang of controlling his longer limbs. He can be considered clumsy and constantly trips over his own feet or knocks things over. His long legs make him a fast runner, and while he doesn't have a ton of stamina he can run in quick spurts, similar to a cheetah. If he weren't such a spaz and knew how to pace himself properly he'd probably be able to run longer and slower, but he doesn't have any idea how to pace himself at all.

Speaking of things Renio has no idea how to do, he seems to just completely ignore his hair. His hair is very unkempt and messy, spiking this way and that with no real direction to it. He has a habit of running his hands through his hair a lot, which really doesn't help the unkempt, messy look of it. It's a dark blonde color, not quite brown. However, while unkempt and messy, Renio’s hair is not very long. He crops it short because he can't be bothered to deal with keeping up with it. The longest part is in the front, and that's the area that tends to spike in all different directions, giving him his messy look.

His facial features are rather sharp, his nose is well defined. His eyes are a normal blue color – they do not resemble ice crystals or sparkle with the light of a thousand sapphires or any of that mess. They are almost always darting around in a rather excitable manner, he has difficulty maintaining eye contact and focusing on one thing, especially when he's excited. There's also almost always a lopsided grin on his face.

Personality: Renio is, to say the least, a bit of a spaz. He tends to get extremely excited over the simplest of things and talks a mile a minute when something interests him. A lot of the time it seems like he just really likes the sound of his own voice, and that's a part of it. He just really loves to talk and ramble, even if no one is listening to him, which is generally the case.

Renio doesn't really have a sense of when to stop talking either, as he's terrible at reading visual cues or noticing anything, really, when he's on one of his spiels. Even if the person he's talking to is bored or completely uninterested he'll just keep talking until they finally have enough of his nonsense and tell him to shut up, or simply walking away altogether. It’ll probably be a minute before he even notices and by then you’ve made your escape! On what he rambles about, it's mostly either theorizing out-loud, wondering out-loud, or ranting about a topic he (thinks he) has extensive knowledge in. He really likes to act like he knows everything, but half the time he's just making things up as they come to him.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Renio is quite spacey. He's a brilliant talker (at least he likes to believe so) but a completely awful listener. Half the time when someone else is talking he'll just stare off into the distance and space out, thinking about his reply to the conversation rather than what the person is actually saying. He's an extremely impatient person and this tends to show even if he doesn't mean it; with little nonverbal cues that he's completely sick of listening and just wants to say his response already! He's not a mean spirited person and generally doesn't mean to act rude, he's just ridiculously impatient and oblivious. It's not that he lacks the intelligence to listen and understand- but he’s young and lacks the attention span.

Renio does try his hardest to be quiet when he obviously should – during Candidate lessons, Weyrleader speeches, things like that. Just because he tries, though, doesn’t mean he succeeds. He’ll be silent at first, and maybe even pay attention, but it doesn’t take longer than ten minutes for him to start squirming in his seat. He’ll start whispering to the person beside him, disturbing them whether they want to talk or not. This tends to get him in trouble, and he’s spent more than a few afternoons scrubbing floors because he couldn’t shut up in class. He’s slowly learning his lesson, and doesn’t disturb class as much as he used to when he was new in the Weyr, but old habits die hard. He’s a fast learner when it’s hands-on training, and prefers learning by doing rather than listening to some old guy drone on, because at least then his attention is occupied by the task and isn’t allowed to wander like in the classroom.

He also tends to space out a lot while thinking, sometimes trailing off in the middle of a sentence to think deeply about what he was talking about, only to jump back a couple minutes later with a new viewpoint, completely re-energized. This tends to happen a lot while he theorizes out loud, and he'll switch subjects so rapidly it's difficult to keep up with or track his train of thought. But he's always happy to explain if you want to listen to him talk for an hour.

Although he doesn't like to listen to other people talk, Renio is endless fascinated by human nature and what people are capable of. But rather than taking the observer path, Renio likes to meddle and interfere. He's an extremely nosy person, always trying to push his way into other people's business. Do you have a secret and Renio knows about? Get ready to be pestered for days about the secret, because once he learns that someone is withholding information he tries his absolute hardest to worm it out of them.
He also likes to "fix things", like problems and bad personality traits and other things. He sees annoying (how hypocritical) and mean people as problems for him to fix, constantly trying to get involved in their affairs and make them realize what they're doing was wrong. Taking responsibility is a big thing for Renio, he really likes to try and get "bad" people to know the wrong they've done and the people they've hurt. Renio really wants to help other people, which is one of his main drives to become a dragonrider.

He simply can't just ignore someone in pain or someone with a problem. He always has to stick his nose into their business to help and fix them, even if it's unwanted. He can't exactly tell when his help is unwanted, so he almost always assumes that everyone is just dying to let him save them. He is rather arrogant in that regard, as he believes he can solve pretty much anything given to him, and even several things not given to him.
