User ImageThe sun peaked over the mountain tops far in the distance. The Trees stood tall and strong surrounding most of the valley. A little creek could be heard bubbling up along the treeline. It was a peaceful little place. The trees were colored red and brown with some dark green standing in contrast. An icy frost clung to the grass giving it a silver shine.

D'vak yawned opening his mouth wide as he took in the landscape around. Hos father had shown up and told his mother that they were moving from their original valley home to a place that would be warmer for the coming months. Mother had said they would stay here for a few days before moving. She had a way of bossing his father around while sounding sweet as honey. He didn't even think his father knew he had been bossed around. It always came across as he was doing her a favor by doing what she wanted. Tricky was what it really was, she was good at that. He closed his mouth before trotting over to the creek for some fresh morning water. He had found that water always tasted best in the morning. However these days it was getting to be really cold. The grass under hoof made a soft crunch sound as he stepped on the ice frosted grass. It left a moist sheen to his hooves.

His father had slipped away earlier and that was what had woke him up. His father wasn't the most graceful when he moved about. His large troll body being heavy he tended to make noise when moving about. Mother had remained where she had decided to settle down and seemed to still be sleeping. D'Vak knew mother wouldn't worry too much if he ran off to explore, she never worried over much about him. He had grown a lot and was very big for his age she would say, she would say he was already taking after his father.

He dipped his head down and drank in some of the water. When he rose his head he shook the water off of his snout. It was going to be a good day.

User Image Rainbow Cullen had snuck off early in the morning, casting a glance at Wish and both his Dads before doing so. Part of him wondered if Papa had heard him, he was almost sure he had seen a flash of purple eyes before the fluffy stallion rolled over and snuggled with Daddy and Wish. Was he letting him go? Rainbow hoped so... either way he wanted to explore. Had felt the itch to do just that for days. They never stopped for very long usually, the constant travelling something that Papa and Daddy had said was to help them all bond and start to recognise the world and understand how it worked. All Rainbow understood was that he wanted to see someone other than Wish or Papa or Daddy.... yes, he loved them all, wouldn't do anything to harm his twin, quite the opposite... but he didn't have a friend, and the way both his Dads had told stories about their encounters as youths... well... it made Rainbow jealous. Daddy had been brought up in a herd, surrounded by family and friends... a family that Rainbow had met a few times now, a large and crazy group that likes to poke and prod at him... and his aunty was expecting her foals any day, making only a month between them.... he sighed, would he at least get to play with the foals? After all, everyone else in the family was all grown up and well, rather boring... they had all these responsibilities and things to do, seemed to want to do more and more work... safety and training and traps and all stuff that Rainbow had no interest in. He liked Granddaddy Maion though, he was big and fluffy and it was nice to snuggle with him.

The few times Rainbow had managed to sneak off in the past had been fruitless, he had ended up speaking with a log and a butterfly and a tree.... not exactly interesting company. Though, he did enjoy dancing with the tree leaves, he and Wish had had fun that day. He smiled at the memory.

Soft footsteps crunched ever so slightly at the frozen ground, his nose nudging at the stuff before wrinking softly in dislike of the cold. He supposed it was a good thing he took after his Papa. He had already noticed a thicken in the fur on his chest.... his Papa had lived in the mountains, training under the strike command of his father, trained to want to become a mount for some two legger.... but he had chosen a different path. Rainbow was glad about that, maybe he and Wish wouldn't have happened had his Papa listened to his Grandpapa.

Something blue caught his attention, his curious purple eyes darting in the direction to see... SOMEONE ELSE!! Excitment bubbled up in him, his little tail wiggling and his too large wings shifting upon his back even as they caressed his body like a blanket. "Hello!" He called, his voice chirpy despite the early hour. Steady legs skipped and leaped towards the other, his smile firmly in place as he took the other in. Blue, with pretty markings... and he looked like he glowed... or was that just a trick of some marking on his body? "You're pretty." Rainbow vocalised, grinning all the more at the stranger. He held up his hoof, trying to playful and friendly despite having only just met. "My names Rainbow... you can call me Bow."

D'Vak had heard some rustling coming his way but he was in no way prepared for what followed the noise. It was a very chipper colt of grey blue color. Water still dripped off his snout as he tried to recover from shock. It was actually another colt. Someone of his age and what was more he had wings! Like what you find on a bird wings.

Shock finally wearing off D'Vak danced on golden hooves as excitement brimmed forth. He had met a number of adults but this Bow fellow was a first. Should he greet him as he greeted adults or in like to what he was greeted like... Mother wouldn't know he had had done it improper right? It was worth the risk because he didn't much at the moment if he would get scolded. "Hiya imah called D'Vak" He shifted cause he couldn't seem to keep still. "Yah gotz fancy lookin' wings!"

He danced in place then realized he had missed the hoof extended in his direction. He still long enough to extend his own hoof in kind. "Ima troll nice tah meetcha Bow!" D'Vak wiggled again excited to have someone to play with. The big question was what to do. He didn't know any games other that tag. "Wanna play?!?" Energy seemed to emanate around D'Vak seeming to just amp up his excitement even more.

Rainbow could see the shock on the other, but his own excitement was radiating off him, his little tail wiggling at hundred miles and hour while he took the other in. They had similar markings... he supposed... except Rainbow's were around his ankles and the strangers were on his rump and face.... oh wait! Now that he looked closer it seemed the other had markings around their ankles too, strangely that seemed to be a 'sign' to Rainbow, after all, his Papa had taught him that signs could come in any shape or form and you just had to grasp them with your own power.

"D'Vak? That's cute!" He repeated, tasting the name on his lips as he tilted his head and giggled slightly, the youthful sound proof that he was only a young colt. "It suits you!" He chirped before adding a quick "Thank you" at the compliment. He wiggled them and looked up as if trying to see the top of his head. "My Daddy has them on his head too.... they wiggle too!" He chirped brightly.

The way D'Vak spoke was strange in comparison to Rainbow, but he didn't mind, it was an interest dialect... and the more he heard the more he became curious. A troll? What was a troll? Was that why he spoke funny? Was it a place? Or a Breed? Or... what? His was bursting with questions, the only sign an almost impatient wiggle of his hooves on the ground as if he couldn't quite manage to stay still either, something he mildly noted that D'Vak was also doing. "Play?" He blinked in surprise before a moonlighting smile passed over his lips. "I would love to play!" He jumped closer to the other, using his wings to glide easily over the distance, he couldn't fly yet but gliding after jumping was easy. It was a start he supposed, but he wished he could fly like his Papa and Daddy! "What do you want to play?" He asked, tilting his head as he tried to consider what he played with his twin sister. Hide and seek. Chase. Scavenger hunt. Find Papa..... yeah, he really didn't know what the other would want, were there special troll games? Should he try and be polite and offer to learn one of those?

After a little while of trying to think and failing he frowned and shook his head as if to shake his thoughts away, then his bright and playful purple eyes looked up at the other again. "What is a Troll?" he asked, the burning curiosity no longer containable in his little form.

D’vak wiggled and then giggled with the other foals attention. Then he jumbled his feet around “Whoa! Ona ‘is head?!? Dat’s be Cool!!!” He wiggled on his hoofs excited about his discovery of another, but that his father was even more unique than his new friend. He was his new friend right? Maybe he should ask. Mental note for sure it would be asked maybe…eventually. He glanced around with a jerky head motion too excited to really contain himself. "Do yah wanna be mah friend?” Well so much for waiting but at least he would know.

Games he had to know what they would do. It was up to them they would play right? Of course they would. “I dinna know any games over dan tag dough.” He jumped slightly to let some of his excitement out. “Ima open ta suggestions too” He wiggled his rear with his tail whipping back and forth. He grinned and shuffled his hooves back and forth the day was only just beginning. He jumped back wiggling his rear again. He was ready to run if his friend bow said the word to play tag.

The other foal had interesting color to his mane. It was striped which seemed really different. His had two colors one his tail it was one color at the base and then another at the tips. He also had cool markings like his own. He wanted to get a closer look but he had to be ready to run. The way the grey changed to green around his hooves was fascinating. Such a difference in colors.“Yah colors are purty”

Rainbow chuckled at D'Vak's obvious enthusiam and joy over the fact that his Daddy had head wings. "Yeah." He chirped, looking up and wiggling his ears as if contemplating something. "I wish I had some too...." He and Wish had been told countless times that they were special because they had two Daddies, blessed by a rainbow for their commitment and love for one another.... give all that, was it so much to ask that he was born with all the cool features? His eyes wandered to his tail and he pouted slightly, his Papa had a really cool lion tail.... why couldn't he have got that too? With a sigh he shrugged it off and returned to his happy and playful demeanor. Of course it was helped by the shuffling of the others hooves and their words, successfully dragging Rainbow from his thoughts and to reality. He was born as he was, he would love it and work it! He grinned wider and boldly stepped towards the other colt, nodding quickly so that the offer couldn't be retracted, before nuzzling his cheek. Rainbow was affectionate, didn't see anything wrong or possibly 'off' with his actions.

Especially since he continued to act just the same as the idea of a game flooded his mind once more. Tag? He thought about it, tilting his head, but in the end tag seemed like the best game they could play... it would mean they could stay around each other rather than being apart while one of them hid... after all, part of Rainbow was worried that D'Vak would just disappear if he took his eyes off him, that maybe he was a figment of his imagination....!

He shook his head, his stripped mane dancing around him before he grinned up at D'Vak once more, his rump playfully in the air as he prepared to take chase, only stalling when the compliment landed on his ears. Rainbow found himself blushing, no one usually said such things back to him.... he was always accused of being overly friendly, of saying too much, yet it seemed the other colt didn't mind, that he even liked him in return. His smile grew, starting from an almost shy and small thing before exploding into a huge 'sh*t-eating' grin. "Thanks." He chuckled softly and leapt forward to take chase, his wings snapping open a little to allow him to glide the distance with ease. "You're pretty too." He repeated his first compliment again, since his mind was already too full with what he could and should be doing, with what games he could play with his new found friend.... they could go hunting! Chase rabbits! Swim! Find a place to make a den! But to start with tag was a good start.

Reaching out with his nose he tapped D'Vak on the shoulder before running off with a squealed giggle. "Can't catch me!" He teased, even as he looked over his shoulder and winked at the other. Rainbow felt a strange connection between them, kin, even if he didn't know much about D'Vak he liked the troll and found he wanted to know more about him.

D'Vak nodded his head vigorously. "Ya would look great with dose head wings!" It didn't take long before he realized his new friend was sad about something it caused him to frown but he seemed happy son enough. He grinned at the nuzzle it tickled. His mother usually nuzzled his head and his father wasn't a nuzzler. He giggled "Yay" He tail whipped back and forth in excitement. There wasn't anything to be seemed odd with his alienation he didn't understand norms.

Game game game, he was excited for the game to come. Him and his friend would have so much fun. "Awe thank you. I get the pretty from my momma. My dad is big and gruff." Then the game of tag was at hoof and he had to chase after his friend. Eee he giggled as he ran after his friend. "Ima getcha!" He ran after his friend giggling the entire time. His tail held high and head down he was determined to catch his friend. He was cool and had wings.

A thought hit him though. If his friend had wings he could fly up and evade being tagged should he choose. The thought crushed him but he wouldn't allow that to stop him. His giggling had stopped but he still ran after his friend. He had gained on his friend he was sure he would catch his friend. While behind he realized his friend didn't have a dream catcher or mane and tail feathers.

"I know, right?" He chirped in agreement, the start of what would one day be the most brilliant of smiles flashing over his lips and his eyes closed in delight. He could just visual the sight of him with head wings... what a shame they would never be. Ah well, he shrugged his shoulders with an elegant role before opening his eyes with sparkled interest and looking at D'Vak again.

"You sure do." He chuckled when D'Vak spoke of getting his pretty from his 'Momma'. Of course that gave him another thought, even as he started to run away. "Does that mean you'll be big one day... I mean like huge...?" He looked up at the sky and nearly stumbled over his hooves as his attention focused on the clouds above the tree canopy. How big exactly would D'Vak get? How big was his father?

The distracted thoughts cost him precious distance and as he heard his new found friend declaring he was going to get him he couldn't help but see just how true those words really where.... he was close... to close... and instead of panicking Rainbow simply giggled with foal-like delight. There was no fun in a game that you never lost, and while Rainbow was competitive and possessive at times but he still loved having fun just as much as the next foal! Especially with new friends like D'Vak!

In truth Rainbow hadn't even contemplated using his wings to escape.... saw no need to. Something however caught his attention, and the protectiveness that was usually reserved for his twin sister kicked in as he rushed to D'Vak's side and opened his wings to make himself look as big as possible to whatever threat loomed close by.

User Image
Wrath was silent as always, but being unable to speak did that to a wolf, still he was in charge of helping Dusk with his training and hunting... something usually reserved for parents but considering Dusk had been one of the unlucky pups to lose both of his parents to the skinwalker before they moved... so, the current situation was unavoidable.

Still as Wrath pressed his paw roughly on the pups head to remind him to keep low he found himself losing interest in the lack of prey around... something was obviously scaring them away, and given that the two-legger tribe had settled in at the far end of the forest edge he had to wonder if they had something to do with it. Of course as the two wolves leapt through the bush only to be greeted by the sound of giggling and talking and then the shuffle of hooves he realised that wasn't the case. In his carelessness he hadn't listened for the sign of soquili.... what he saw however made him grin. Two foals, by the looks of it at least, one seemed to be protecting the other. His mouth made the movements that indicated a 'growl' but as always no sound came out. With a shake of his head he dismissed the pair and walked towards Dusk. A paw to the shoulder and a nod of his head back the way they had come was all he said before turning... of course that was until Dusk spoke causing him to curse in his head.

User Image Dusk was overly excited, he knew that, he kept making mistake and getting penalised by Wrath... but that didn't matter, he was out of the den for the day, away from the nagging and pampering females and males that had been in charge of them... it was so freeing to be able to run and play outside, sure they hadn't seen anything that he could try to catch but that didn't matter.

Of course things quickly changed the moment they burst out of the tree line. Free took over at the sight of the two creatures, the idea that these could be the same creatures that had killed his parents paralysing him.... he didn't want to die! He whimpered and looked at Wrath, he didn't seem overly distressed but he did seem to want to leave. "Are they dangerous?" He asked in a hushed tone.

D'Vak pondered the question it almost distracted him from the game at hoof too. He shook his head and decided he would answer after catching his friend. He stuck his neck out which was followed by his head trying to be as long as they could be. He was so close... then something strange happened and his friend wasn't running from him. He almost ran into his friend because the change was so sudden. While managing to not run into his friend he did end up tumbling forward and flipping up and landing in an ungraceful oomph.

After he righted himself he shook his head finding Rainbow puffed up similar to a peacock. He cocked his head to the side confused. "Ah geh big bah I willna be as big as my dad. Ah have mah momma's bodeh build. Wah are ya ah puffed up?" He was sure there was a reason but he couldn't quite tell. He looked around trying to see what he could find. He managed to peep out from bellow one of his friends wings to see an odd creature ahead.
