Every holiday season, and every day in general, many little ones go without a family and warm shelter. The little ones are no stranger to our parts and many wander the cold streets going hungry every night. They've watched through windows into the warm homes, wishing they had that life. Each night their dreams are filled with hopes of finding someone that will take them home to love and care for them like their own child.

Well, we've rounded up most of these little ones. The ones that want so desperately to be loved. The ones that want warmth, food and someone to snuggle with every night. The ones that have nothing of their own to give, but do not selfishly seek to take. They will accept the gift you give of a home, love and other trinkets this holiday season.

For now they have temporary beds and three meals a day. For now they have toys to share amongst themselves, but none they can call their own. For now they are safe from the harsh cold of the streets...but they still stare outside at the passing families, their big eyes begging to be taken in.

This is an adoption event. There are several orphans that need homes with someone to love them, but there may not be enough for everyone that comes in to adopt a child.

This is open to single noodles who want to be parents, or who already are. This is open to couples who have families, who have maxed out their breedings or have no children at all.

There are just a few things to consider when entering.

- This child cannot breed with any of it's siblings/parents/family. That's horrible...
- This does not count as a breeding slot/chance for your noodle or couple. This is purely adoption.
- You may enter and give the adopted child to someone who does not own the parent(s), but the child is still related to the ones who adopted it.
- Both owners of a couple must understand there will most likely only be one child given to their couple. There are rare cases of twins (from the same bowl no less), but go into this expecting only one. Determine owner now.

How do you apply to adopt one of these children? Good question, let's take some of these forms and quietly go discuss it away from them while they play....

To enter, fill out the following form(s). You may enter once for each category. This means if you enter the single for yourself and the couple with another person, you are maxed out. That other person can also enter the singles as well, but then they will also be maxed out.

The idea is to bring a gift to your prospective child (you don't know what the children will look like until they are all revealed at the end of this event). This gift can be a toy, clothing, jewelry, etc. With said gift, please also write out an RP response. It doesn't have to be long.

Owner of Child: Vistada

Gift to Child: Some Barn Owl feathers and a Fantasy Book.
RP Response: Ashka brings his gift and his heart breaks as he looks at all the orphans, wishing he had a gift for each and every one of them, he saw other adult Noodles arriving and heading to lovely orphans and it made him feel a bit better. He looked around, wondering who on earth to give his gift to when he caught sight of one, small young noodle sitting on their own, reading and not really caring about the adults that were visiting to hopefully take one of them home. He smiled and wandered over "Hey there little one" he said, somewhat nervous, he didn't usually do well in company but he'd heard there were youngsters needed a home so he'd come. "i see you like reading" he said to the youngster who merely nodded and carried on reading the tattered book. "How about a new story" he asked and got his gift out "Would you like me to read it to you?" he asked, and was greeted with wide, impossibly huge and pleading eyes. Ashka smiled and sat himself down next to the youngster, opening the book he began to read. By the time he was finished the young Noodle was almost asleep. Ashka sighed sadly "Here, keep the book, i'll come back another time ok?" he noted a defeated look on the youngster's face "here, take these, they're my favorite things in the world, you can give them back when i come back ok?" he beamed, giving the youngster a few feathers Ashka treasured.

He waited til the young noodle was asleep before approaching the staff scattered about, "Who do i see about taking that little one home with me?" he asked, gesturing the youngster he'd been reading to.

Gift to Child: A tattered book

RP Response:

Most Noodles who visited the orphanage went through the front door, talked to the staff, and didn't feel as if they had to sneak around to get a look at the children.

But Serah didn't have that luxury.

She wasn't even supposed to be in town at all. Her 'father', as she called him, would have been so angry at her if he had the slightest idea that she was there, in broad daylight no less! What would happen if someone saw her? Or worse, tried to capture her? She thought that his fears were a bunch of baloney, but she did look a little strange and it was pretty crowded... So Serah stuck to the walls and alleys, ducking behind debris when she saw movement.

Serah wasn't going to give up though! She really, REALLY wanted to cheer up one of the poor kids in the orphanage. Their needs were met, sure... But they didn't have anyone to read them bedtime stories, or make them cookies, or to call them their child... It broke her gentle heart to think of it.

And she knew exactly how it felt to be an outcast. What did cookies taste like, anyways?

Serah sniffed a little and felt with her tendrils up the wall until she found what she was searching for. A windowsill! Now, if she could move that trashcan over here and balance juuust right...

With all her strength, she yanked open the window, then proceeded to get tangled in the webbing of her wings and fell into the playroom with a loud thump, the trashcan clattering about on the street below. She froze, wondering what she had gotten herself into, until she realized that a bunch of little faces were looking at her with as much shock as she felt. Immediately, Serah grinned and rubbed one of her ears, her tentacles glowing brightly with embarrassment.

"Hey there! Uhh, I just wanted to give you guys a present!" Serah said a little enthusiastically, then gasped a little when she realized how loud her voice was. She lowered it, and continued. "Umm, I know it's not much, but it brought a lot of joy to me when I was little... And I was hoping one of you would like it too!"

Then she plopped a book in front of her. It was dog-eared and so worn, the title was hardly visible anymore. But to her, the little book was precious, and she smiled even more when she gazed at it's well-used pages.

"This is a picture book! It's all about puppies and kittens and stuff," Serah explained, flipping to her favourite pages. "There's a few stories in here! I bet you guys would like it."

She looked up to gaze at the kits. Most of them were still keeping their distance... Though she didn't blame them, really. Her ears were beginning to droop when one of the kits tentatively stepped forward. She watched, practically holding her breath, as the little one took the book with gentle paws, gave her a big smile, and carried it off to the corner.

Serah's heart swelled and she felt happy tears in her eyes. What a sweet, adorable, innocent little thing! The kit didn't deserve to be in this place... who would have given up such a kind soul? Oh, if only she was the tiny one's mother...

"You enjoy that, okay?" The kit looked up from the book to nod slightly, then went back to reading the story. Serah sighed, then wiped her eyes. It was time to go, before her father noticed she was gone. Quietly, she tiptoed to the window, climbed out, and closed it before promptly crashing into the garbage she had spilled earlier. "Oh great..."

But it was all worth it.

Gift to Child: Spiderman blanket
RP Response: Yukii took in a deep breath as he once more stood outside the gates of the orphanage. It had been a year since he'd been to this place, and he was trembling with excitement. Finally, after all his preparation, he was going to take that little boy home.

He could remember their meeting like it was yesterday. The kit had took off with his plush, his gift for his new kit, and tried to patch it up with leaves and nuts. To get the plush back, Yukii agreed to make a snowman with the little one… All he wanted was a play mate. He almost had a father. The paperwork didn't turn out like he'd hoped, maybe because he was new in town or maybe because he was ill prepared. Either way, both had been fixed. He'd even made a new friend who'd helped him with the kits room. Yukii couldn't wait to bring the boy to Zane, just as he said he would.

Shifting his weight anxiously, Yukii pawed at the gift he'd brought this year, a Spiderman blanket. It was fleece, and warm as all get out around his neck. He knew the boy would love it… Yukii chuckled. The boy. What was it with society and gender roles? He'd started out picking out boy things, until he met Zane. Zane taught him that sometimes boys liked pink. Sometimes boys liked sparkly stuff. Yukii didn't think the kit would like either, though, seeing as how he had been all rough and tumbles when they'd met. Still… if the kit didn't like Spiderman, he'd buy him any blanket in the world that he wanted!

'Alright, Yukii.' He thought. 'Go get your son.'

Still trembling inwardly, Yukii pushed open the gates to go see the boy… But when he got to the yard, he couldn't find him. Yukii looked everywhere, until he finally asked a staff member. He should have known the kit would have either grown up or been adopted by now… He'd been so wrapped up in the thought of that one kit that the passing of time didn't even occur to him. With a heavy heart, Yukii returned to the yard. The boy -his boy- had found a home. His boy was gone. His boy was probably decorating a tree already, and baking homemade cookies…

Yukii smiled. So, he'd just find another kit to take home, another who needed him. Surely the other boys would love a Spiderman blanket. Or… or maybe a little girl would. Maybe he'd return with not a son, but a daughter. Either way, Yukii only hoped to give one little kit a Christmas to remember.

RP Response:

Red heart trotted into the orphanage with her bear in hand wrapped up, all the kids were playing around, and doing things. Red Heart notices one lone child sitting looking at an old picture. She walked up to the young one.

"Who is that?"

"Oh, this was my momma..."

"She was very pretty."

"Yes, she is the bestest..."

"Do you mind me asking what happened to her?"

"Oh.... She died...left me all alone..... "

"Red Heart could tell she over stepped her boundary, the young one was now sniffing, she could they were holding back tears. "My mom died too, but before she left, she gave me a special gift, one that I hold dear to my heart, I think he would want to be your friend, how would you like that?"

The young one looked up, and seen the gift. The young one seemed to get color in her face and her eyes widened. "For me?"

"Yes, just for you, because I know you will take good care of him, won't you?"

The young one nodded slowly, staring at the gift.

Red Heart handed the gift to the young one. "Here you go darling."

The young one ripped the gift open and found a teddy bear, little worn out, but still in good shape. The young one hugged the bear tearing up.

"Are you okay lil one?"

"Yes, I'm so happy I have my very first friend now, momma would be so happy!!"

I seek a child of my own!

Owner of Parent: Zoeybird92
Parent's Name: Barubeat

Owner of Child: Zoeybird92

Gift to Child: The warmest, softest, fluffiest scarf ever.
RP Response: Barubeat buzzed down the street on his firefly wings. It was late and he was wearing the new scarf he bought. After becoming obsessed with all things fluffy, he began collecting anything and everything that reminded him of that beautiful tail he once encountered. While heading down a dark and empty street, Baru paused a moment to look inside. Within, there was a small kit huddled in a corner and shivering like crazy.

The little one held a small flashlight against its chest and, whenever the building creaked, it would shine the light in every direction. Once, the light flickered and the little one began franticly hitting it until the light was calm and bright again. A strange weight began crushing Baru’s chest. Here he was going about while this poor kit was alone and cold. He flew over to the door and realized it was an orphanage. His eyes watered as he turned away from the sign and hurried back home. Curling up in his tree house, the image of the kit stayed in his mind until the sun rose.

Jumping out of bed, Baru flew as fast as he could back to the orphanage. A bell rang as he pushed the door open. A lady introduced herself, but he was too busy looking around to remember it. As soon as she left, he began wandering around through the rooms. Some of the children were playing together, a few of them were talking to adults, but most of them were by themselves. Baru was about to give up when he heard jeering. Some of the larger kids were bullying the small kit he’d seen the night before, teasing and calling the little one a ‘fraidy-cat’.

“Hey!” They all jumped up and scurried off, before he’d even started walking over. The kit was still shivering and clutching the flashlight, large tears were beginning to spill down its cheeks. “Don’t cry,” He knelt down and wiped them away with the back of his paw. “What’s wrong?”

The little kit reluctantly handed him the flashlight and sniffled "They took my batteries..."

“Well that wasn’t very nice.” The kit watched him for a moment and then shook its head, its ears flopping about in the cutest way possible. Baru removed the scarf from his neck and began wrapping it around the little one. By the time he was done, only its head, nose, and ears were visible. “Better?”

The kit grinned up at him, hunkered down, and stopped shivering. "Thank you," it whispered. The lady suddenly appeared over his shoulder, started babbling on about what a great father he’d make, and disappeared to look for some papers. Barubeat placed his paw on the little one’s head.

“Would you like that?” Before the kit answered he added, “I promise that you will never sleep in the dark again.” Turning, he showed off his glowing light bulb of a tail. The kits eyes became impossibly wide and watery and it looked up at Baru. Still wrapped in the scarf, it scooted forward and pressed its forehead into Baru’s chest, nuzzling him. Carefully, Barubeat leaned over and wrapped his arms around the fluffy bundle. He never wanted to let go.

Gift to Child: A toy train - holiday edition
RP Response: Kieran entered the orphanage and looked around. From the looks of things, the little open house was well underway. Prospective parents mingled with potential orphans. Gifts were passed off to the little ones whose eyes shined brightly as they looked upon their present.

He wilted as he looked at the fancy new toys and the cherished hand-me-downs that no doubt had some fancy story attached. The little holiday train he held paled in comparison. Did kids even play with trains anymore? Did he pick wrong? The woman at the store assured him the train was a classic. But was classic, classic? Or was it so old school no one buys them anymore?

Why was he even here again? He spotted a child half hidden by a potted plant. With wishful eyes the kid watched the other children attract the attention of the adults. That's why he was here. For all his devil-may-care attitude, Kieran did care about others. Heavens knows the past battered and bruised his heart, until he pushed everyone away. Try as her might, he could not stop himself from caring. That was why he got out of bed this morning. Why he made the long walk to the orphanage. He remembered how it felt to be unwanted. Maybe it was a little girly of him, but he was tired of being alone. If he could help someone else in the process, then all the better.

The kid's head drooped and he/she -he could not tell from this distance- slipped from behind the plant and out the room. He followed before his mind even processed the fact.

"Wait," he said.

The kid stopped but didn't turn around. Now what should he do? Kieran had no experience with kids, and nothing from his childhood would help him now unless he wanted to scare the kid permanently. The train! He sat the train on the floor, and pushed it towards the kid. It rolled down the hallway until it smacked into the kid's rear. A small paw reached behind and pulled the train close.

The silence stretched, and Kieran fumbled for words. He formed a nice little speech, but before he could speak, the child turned around. Words failed him as he looked at those silent tears. Never again would he allow anyone to hurt this child. Never.

Fancy speech forgotten, he simply said, "Would you like to come home with me?"

Parent's Name: Mary Gowland

Owner of Child: ~Lady Kanna~

Gift to Child: A small toy carosel, that plays joyful music when wound up and spins
RP Response:
Mary had realized he was growing older. His best friend had a family, grandchildren even! And here he was, still single, not a single youngster of his own. Who would take over his park when he died? What was the use of his park if only it was to be forgotten? And after all, he wasn't going to be able to ride his creations forever.... He had paced all night, thinking of his options. Should he perhaps seek love? No, who would want a man like him? He was sure there wasn't anyone who would put up with him.
It finally occured to him on a trip to the store. He passed by a gated building, an orphanage. He had turned, just to see a small child run inside, being called in by one of the caretakers. His breath froze in the air, gears turning in his head. No. Perhaps he could give the best home to one of those abandoned. His trip to the store was quickly fogotten in a rush back home. He dug through his chest, finally finding the gift he was looking for. After all, what was a welcome home without a present?
He went and spoke to the caretakers the very next day, for once completely sure of himself. When hw was finally accepted to go and take one of the children home, he walked through the house, watching. All of them looked so sad, so lonely, though they did their best to hide it, or forget it, with the friendships formed between themselves. However, there was one that caught his eye....
One, playing with a rather worn toy horse.
Mary liked horses. That's why he was constantly taking care of his carosel. This child, perhaps, would feel more at home with a crazy old man like him. He quietly made his way over, watching them silently before settling down on the stairs beside them.
"Hey, whatcha doin' there kid?"
"Playin' wiff my horse." The kid didn't even look up. It was now that Mary noticed that it looked like it had been patched over.
"You like horses huh? Looks like you've taken good care of your friend there." He gave a slight smile.
"Yeah...Sometimes they let me get sum paint....." They finally looked up, and saw the horses on Mary's belt, eyes wide with excitement. "Hey! You've gots some too!" The kid seemed excited.
"Yeah, I do. Say...How would you like something new to play with? It's a little old and rusty....But..." Mary set down the carosel beside the kid, who lit up like fireworks.
"Fer me? REALLY?!"
"Yeah. I think you'll take good care of it...It could use some new paint, and one of the horses is missing but..."
"No 's not!" The kid beamed, placing its own horse in the empty spot, "See! Fit as a fiddle!" Mary laughed, just as excited as the child beside him.
"Seems like you're good at fixing things. You know...How would you like to come home with me? I mean, only if you want to, kid. Don't feel like you have to."
He didn't even need to finish before the kid was hugging him, eyes bright.
"Are you kidding?! Of course I'd like to have a home! I'd love to have a Dad!"
Mary finally felt like he had a family, almost to the point of tears as he finished the papers, and began to walk home with his kid.
As far as he was concerned, this was his kid. Blood parent or not.

I seek a child of my own!

Owner of Parent: Doc Goth
Parent's Name: Titan
Parent's Image: Image
--
Owner of Child: Doc Goth

Gift to Child: Best Friends Forever Locket
RP Response: The Title Is: Lonesome Angels

The weather outside began to show signs of dark and dreary signs to come which would soon follow with the silent fall of the snowflakes that ushered in old man winter like tiny angels...angels...Titan (an angelic noodle) was frequenting his home among the misty clouds of a dark forest. He sighed as he read through his mail..which consisted of bills and foreboding chain letters and then he saw a beat up post card that read
"Dear future patron,
The holiday season is fast approaching, why not consider giving a little to those who have little or nothing."

This came as no surprise to Titan. As usual, the holiday season was ushering in notices of less fortunate noodles needing help for food, housing etc.. Titan was not the richest noodle but he got by and whatever he had left over usual when to a bell ringer's holiday jar which in turn went to whatever charity they were sitting in the cold for.
But, something did catch old Titan's eye. The image of young noodles sitting behind a frosted window inside a building which read "Orphanage". This again, is nothing new to Titan. Orphans are vast and many within this world unfortunately, however Titan had gotten along just fine on his own. Why not them? Something within the inked photo seemed to unlock a door to Titan's lonely past. He had an O.K. life alone. He made a living alone. He lived everyday alone.
Alone..
That terrible word. It seemed to Titan that perhaps in his lifetime he, could have been perhaps a whee bit selfish seeing how he was always alone and striding for the better good with himself and his life. But being alone anymore didn't sound attractive as it did many many years ago. Titan was lonesome and did not realize the gaping void that was developing in his heart. Soon he might become the bane of the noodle world. The one noodle that needs no one. That one noodle that can get along just fine by himself.
Titan did need something...something to Love

Two days had passed since Titan had received the postcard. He was trudging throw a half of foot of snow which had fallen within the two past forlorn days. He shivered as he glanced at the icy sidewalks. Some noodles were rushing around with mountains of treasure merely avoiding slipping on the icy sidewalks or even running into other noodles. In the distance Titan could hear angelic voices echoing from the interior of a church, and elsewhere he could hear children laughing singing Christmas carols but definitely sounding like they needed a little more work with their singing voices. Titan smiled to himself as he stared as the brightly lit Christmas tree in the middle of the town square. It was a white tree which was adorned with the brightest shades of gold and silver he had ever seen.
Suddenly,Titan was brought back to the real world when a noodle collided with him from behind. He got up quickly and whipped around to see who in their right mind would run into him when he was cherishing this sight. An older lady noodle picked up fallen glasses with shaky paws put on glasses that looked more like magnifying glasses quickly started to bellow out an apology. For a moment the world seemed to freeze over, like the ice on the sidewalks. The post card came to mind, and with haste Titan helped her pick up her bags. "No need to apologize madame. I did need a wake up call. Please, be more careful on the slippy sidewalks. You may get seriously hurt." His deep voice rung out like a baritone in the symphony of the street voices dancing around them. The older noodle nodded her head and smiled and scuttled away.
Titan looked from the spot where the older noodle had been laying and saw a wore out brick building with what looked to be an antique sign that read "Orphanage". He had found his destination and perhaps a destiny with it.
He entered the building and immediately an explosion of sounds from both staff and children danced around his ears. The staff and some children were hanging tinsel, some where decorating trees, and others from what he could guess were carrying out chores he guessed as a young noodle with fresh linen, that was folded terribly, dashed past him almost tripping on the long renegade shirt that was hanging out from the bundle. Titan was now faced with difficult choices; Who do I pick? How do I pick? Do I want a girl? Do I want a boy? Will they love me? Will they hate me? Will they think i'm a terrible dad? Poor Titan stood in the door shivering, not from the cold mind you, but for the first time in his life he was incredibly nervous. A clean swept looking female noodle called out to Titan from behind a stack of papers she was working on "Sir? S-sir? Are you ok? You may come in from the cold you know." He fluttery voice made him jerk his head in an un-saintly manner from the chaos scene in front of him to her. "Oh, sorry miss. I was er.. taking in the scenery." Titan said sheepishly. "Great" he thought, "She now thinks I am a moron." He strode over to her, his walk that of a lion strut. She smiled sweetly and said "My name is Ms. Dickens, and this is our lovely orphanage. I am glad you took a liking to our holiday decorations. The children do love the holidays." She glanced over to the chaotic scene and back to Titan. "So what may I help you with today mister..." "Titan" He answered quickly...perhaps too quickly he immediately thought. "I was actually considering an adoption." He said very cooly and a tad under breath. " Very well Mr. Titan. Let me give you a tour of the facility to start with"

It's a good start. Titan thought. While Ms.Dickens was busy informing him about every nook and cranny of the old building Titan was looking for something special in one of these young noodles that would catch his eye. They started surprisingly upstairs in which some young noodles were lining up beside their beds, or hurrying to fix their hair or straighten up mess they had made with their toys. Titan was a little distraught. There were so many orphans, he could never imagine this. This made him feel very guilty and his challenge of choosing one of these noodles was making him sweat. "Coffee Mr.Titan?" Ms. Dickens asked as they entered the downstairs corridor again. "N-no thanks, but thank you for the offer." He said trying to sound as stoic as he could muster "Did you want a girl or a boy noodle Mr.Titan?" At that moment, Titan was again caught in a daze. He saw a rough tattery looking noodle shoving around a smaller noodle who was trying to decorate a tree that was being put up beside a bigger one in the center of the room. The bully started to taunt the younger noodle. " Er, excuse me Mr.Titan, t-there's coffee in the break room ask one of our staff members. I will be right back!" She said with a cheesy grin on her face as she marched over to the bully. Titan did not go get the coffee..thinking Ms.Dickens had ignored his denial of it the first time, getting distracted by this matter. "What have I told about you pushing around others young man?" Ms.Dickens said in an angry voice. " Don't push others around. It's not nice." Said the male kit in a bored voice. "Exactly. Then I will not need to remind you of this, yet, again. Now apologize and go stand in the corner." Titan heard another bored "im sorry" from the bully noodle as he moved to the corner with his head hung low. " Sorry about that. Some of our kits are not good at manners yet." She said trying to make it as convincing as possible. Titan passively listened as he stared at the kit in the corner which looked like he was trying to burn a hole through the wall with his glare. "Children. They just need time." "You couldn't be more right sir." She sighed, fluffed her hair with her paw and then gazed at him over half spectacles "So, are there any specifics you are looking for in a child Mr.Titan?" "That will not be necessary." He said as he walked toward the kit that was sitting in the corner.

Titan tilted his head to see if the kit was staring at anything but a blank yellowing wall...nope...just a yellowing wall. The kit took notice to Titan although unannounced to the stoic noodle. "Why are you even bothering to come over here. Go look at Ebony, that crybaby. The weakling. That's always what they want." The kit said not looking at Titan but still staring at the wall. Titan could see perhaps some tears forming in the eyes of the child. But the child did not lets those tears fall. "It depends what one would consider weakness." Titan saw that the kit had very slightly moved his hear to hear Titan better."Weakness can be physical or emotional. Sometimes others have a quick wit but not the reflexes to win a dispute. And other times, when one is hurt they will lash out at others to feel the power that they do not have" The last part Titan knew well and knew that is what this kit was doing. "It's not O.K. to be scared. It's better to be strong." The kit said finally looking at Titan. "Being strong can come from friendships too, and with those friendships one does not need to be afraid anymore." Titan pulled out from his scarf a Best Friends Forever Necklace. The multi-color lights danced off the treasure like a rainbow fire. The words "Best Friends Forever" was written out in beautiful cursive and was sparkled in the silver dusting the letters had. "I lost my best friend. Ever since I have been quite lonely and at times scared." Titan gracefully handed the astonished kit the locket and then asked. "What do you say son? Best Friends Forever?"

I seek a child of my own!

Owner of Child: Yushika

Gift to Child: A magically blessed locket.
RP Response: Near wasn't sure what she was doing.

Her eyes had drifted for many weeks on the orphanage across the street, lips tightening whenever her mothers best friend retold the story of how she adopted her son. Her hands had bought and carried many children clothes and items into a spare room of her new home, having decided to live without her mothers finally, and she had acquired small, cute trinkets. At first, she had said she was simply preparing for the day she mated and had kids. Then, she realized what her staring meant. She wanted a child now.

She had always wanted children, but the shy girl was under the belief she would be a horrible mother. Also, could she do it alone? Would she ever be able to make the child happy? No, she didn't think so. She was far too nervous and passive, wasn't she? Wasn't that all she was? Her mothers made it work because there was two of them, so even the irresponsible Nyx could raise her daughters successfully with Brie. Near.... Would anyone ever want a child with her? Why did she want one?

She just did. She wanted a child to kiss on the forehead before bed. A child to scold when they came home with muddy fur and scratches on their cheeks. She wanted to cook for more than herself and hold the child when they cried. She wanted what she had as a child, minus the horrid eye soups and finger pastas. She wanted a family, as small as it would be, to call her own. Yes, there would be tension and fights at first, but she knew every family struggled time to time. More than anything, more than she wanted a mate, she wanted to be a mother.

Yet, the shy girl did not enter the orphanage, swallowing thickly as she looked away. She couldn't, not yet.... She wasn't good enough yet...

Her pondering was disturbed by a low whimper. Her head jerked around, looking for the sound anxiously. Who, or what, was hurt? Could she help it? Her eyes landed on a small kit, curled into herself as she laid in the snow. Large eyes flicked to meet Near's, and suddenly, the kit ran up, gripping Near's coat.

"Lady! Lady, I'm cold!" The tiny girl whimpered, flinching when Near crouched to her level. The girl was petite, perhaps scrawny was the better word. Bright eyes viewed Near cautiously, and then small hands gripped the woman's jacket and tugged, again. Near raised her hand, patting the small child's head before standing and removing her jacket, draping it around the girls form.

"There you g-" And suddenly, small hands slipped around her waist and ripped her bracelets off, the small child fluttering down the street and vanishing within the alleys. Near, dumbfounded, stared at the general direction of where the child went, eyes wide. What just happened....? Was she robbed... By a child? That... What.... Confused, she stumbled before chasing after the child, challenging her magic quickly.

She found the child in a park, gawking over the coat and stolen bracelets. When Near approached the child squeaked, moving to run. Vines from the trees wrapped around the child, stopping her and causing her to squeak and wail. Near approached, arms extending and catching the child when the vines set her down. The girl struggled, but Near held on tightly.

"Please, give the bracelets back. It's rude to steal." Near whispered, flinching as the child resorted to clawing. She preserved, but the woman did grimace time to time.

"No! Their mine!" The child wailed. Her arms connected against Near's head, the woman wincing as she tightened her hold. The girl squirmed and flailed, calming only when she realized it was futile to fight any longer. She went limp against Near's arms, whimpering gently. Near offered her a nervous smile, unsure if the girl was about to flail again or not. Quietly, she slipped the bracelets back onto her wrist with magic, setting the girl down.

"Why did you take them? It's rude." Near whispered, eyes widening as the child's eyes watered. Bright eyes narrowed at Near as a pout formed, head jerking to the side. Near gently reached up and touched the girls chin, directing her face to view Near's. The girl struggled briefly, until a heart wrenching sob escaped her lips.

"I-I.... I was... Hoping someone would like me more.... T-take me home if I had nice things." It took Near a few seconds to understand. Was the girl am orphan? The child whimpered as Near reached out to touch her cheeks, resting her forehead on the other girls.

"Sweetie, why would stealing make that easier? Also, if someone only wants you because of nice things you own are they really someone you want to be with?" She whispered, recoiling as the child slapped her hand.

"What.... What would you know?!" The girl squeaked. Near frowned gently, reaching up to cup the girls cheeks.

"What is your name?" She whispered, smiling as the girl froze and stared intently at her. The girl looked away, cheeks flushing a deep red, head lowering.

"Nobody. I'm named Nobody.... But.... Call me Bod." Near must have shown the shock in her heart, for the girl recoiled into herself and dug her nails into the palm of her hands. "I know it's weird, but I like it. It's the only thing that is solely mine. It's.... My name, it's important..." Nobody looked up at Near, the two watching one another. She was alone, Near realized, and the sad part was that this girl would always feel like it was acceptable. She needed a home, Nobody needed somebody.

"Bod. Would you like to come to the orphanage - that is where you're staying right? - with me?" She watched the girl's eyes widened, head shaking.

"I'm sorry I stole your bracelets! But.... Please stay a little longer. I... You're really pretty." Bod's paw reached out, touching Near's arm. With a gentle nod, the woman settled down, nuzzling Nobody's cheek before bringing the girl in for a hug. She had a plan.

-------------

"I-I'm here to adopt Nobody!"

Her voice trembled as she clutched a small locket in her hand, heart shaped and silver. She had a similar version on her own neck, chiming as it clicked against her collar due to her nervous trembles. She had decided weeks ago she'd adopt Nobody, and it was almost Christmas. She had spent time visiting the girl, making the house roomy and comfortable for her, and getting presens. Now, with a magically altered pendant in hand, she nervously but firmly stared back at the woman at the front desk, determined.

What was the pendant?

It connected the user to the other one wearing the other pendant. Open the heart shaped locket and it works just like a phone. Even if Nobody wasn't allowed to come home with her, or even if she didn't want Near, the woman intended to give her the pendant. So Nobody wasn't alone anymore. More than anything, though, she hoped to take the little girl home and share their first Christmas together as a family.

Gift to Child: Music box with this tune, made by Jayy~

RP Response: "Eeeeeeheeheehee!~" Calais couldn't be more happy. Here she was, skipping alongside her lover, on the way to the orphanage to adopt a little baby kit and start a real family! A month ago, had someone told her she'd be doing this, she'd have laughed them off the face of the earth. Now? She couldn't help giggling with delight. Her Jayy-Baby seemed to be really warming up to her, and she'd managed to convince him to make a little gift for some little boy or girl. Smiling, she looked over in the direction she felt Jayy. "Ohhhh, this is going to be such a great Christmas, love!"

Jayy, on the other hand, was entirely miserable. What use would a kit possibly have, other than to annoy the daylights out of him? Every giggle that Cal emitted, he cringed inwardly. Just watching her bounce around, gift in hand, made him sick to his stomach. But he was stuck dealing with the lovey, gooey feelings she'd forced into his heart.
"Fun for you maybe." He murmured, unable to bring up enough anger to truely fight back.

For a second, her face fell. Then she brightened again. "Aw, come on! Just wait, you'll fall in love with our kit without even them wishing for it!" Cal giggled again. 'Our kit'. The words made her feel all fuzzy inside. Jayy had truly granted her wish, even more so than he ever intended. "Oh, we're close! I can feel the kits!" While she lacked sight, she was able to feel the presence of others, and already she could feel many little ones of the orphanage.

"How exciting..."
His sarcasm was heavy, but she was right; they were close by. Didn't make her any less weird in his mind, however. He could easily hear them at play, despite the distance being more than most would call their hearing range. The building holding them, however, was in plain view, and he looked up at the dark building with a smirk. It was quite the prison; he loved it. It reeked of fear and lost hope, the perfect place to have children in his eyes.

"Isn't it!" Cal noted the sarcasm, but pretended she didn't. She knew Jayy wasn't really happy with her... but, that was what he got for preying on innocents, and preying on her. He got love, he got a girl, and now he was getting a family. She'd warm his bah-humbug heart yet! "Let's go look at the kits! Er..." Cal stopped just outside the doors. "You know what I mean." Shaking her head, she felt a paw out until she found the door handle, and pushed inside the orphanage with a giggle.

Jayy rolled his eyes, but followed her anyway. This sounds of children's laughter seemed to POUR the minute the doors were open, and Jayy let out a hiss to notify the youth that he had arrived. He could easily intimidate them with the fires of hell at his heels, but instead he oozed shadows at his paws, watching the laughter die out in an instant. Good.

Cal was beaming, until she felt Jayy's shadows. "Jayy!" She hissed at him. "Stop that! We're here to adopt one of these kiddos, not scare them!" Bumping past him intentionally, Calais padded a few steps forward and smiled at the kits. "It's ok! He's just a grumpy butt~" She giggled, sending warm and loving feelings out to counter the shadows that scared them. "We brought a present for one of you! Jayy made it~" She placed the music box beside her, then looked back in Jayy's direction as if to tell him to make it play.

He had already instilled fear on them, and a few of the kits were quite anxious when he stepped towards the gift. He raised a paw towards the gift, ignoring Cal's concerns as it played a distinctly creepy melody with a small amount of dark fog and glitter, the sound both soothing and a warning to the small orphans. He smirked, watching as a few eyed the small device with fear... except one. He glared at her, but she was mesmerized by the music, eyes sparkling with pure delight. He quickly cut the music, glancing toward Cal with... fear? Unease? He didn't like that this kit liked the music box. It was unexpected, like the female who had claimed his heart.

Cal's hairs prickled at the sound that came from the box. No wonder he hadn't let her hear it before! She could feel the kits fear, some of them skittered back, and she was just about to go momma-bear on Jayy when she felt something else. One small kit, one little girl, was... fascinated? Delighted? One of the kits loved it. The blind vixen couldn't help but smile when the music cut out and she felt Jayy's eyes on her. "Well, my love, it seems that little girl really likes your gift~" Feeling for the box, Cal pushed it toward the kit. "Go ahead, little darling, this belongs to you now~" She giggled, then turned to Jayy. "Shall we go fill out the adoption papers?"

Jayy glared at the kit, who seemed thoroughly loving of the gift. He couldn't help the warm fuzziness that rose in his throat when she doted over the small gift, her eyes glancing up at him and giving a smile. He gagged and snarled inwardly at her kindness, but on the outside he kept his composure and admired her courage. He sent a small creeping shadow towards the box, making the thing light up with a haunted melody and small ghostly figures, only to watch her light up like a christmas tree as the others stepped back.
"Fine..." He murmured, grabbing the kit by the scruff and getting a small 'oomph' from her as he walked towards the desk. This one was worth keeping, and he'd like to see someone else try to take it from him.

Calais beamed, feeling Jayy actually take a small liking to the kit. She scooped up the box the kit dropped upon being scooped up herself, and trotted happily after her new family~

Gift to Child: A magical crystal bell attached to a string
RP Response: It was the holiday season, and as such, it reminded Melody of how lonely she was. It wasn't so much that she didn't have a mate, although she didn't, nor any prospective love interests, it was more the fact that she didn't have a child. Someone to unconditionally love and give to and in return know that she was making someone smile. A child that would jump on her bed on Christmas day yelling "It's Christmas It's Christmas, wake up!". She smiled at the thought that had allowed her mind to wander.

This is why she'd decided to go to the orphanage and adopt a little one of her own.

As she walked into the orphanage and looked around, she quickly realized there was a huge need here. So many little ones... she sighed sadly. Although she wanted to help each and everyone of them, she only had the ability to help 1 at this time. After talking to the staff she picked out a young girl who was playing with a dolly by herself in a corner. Occasionally looking out the window at the snow. Melody approached her.

"Do you like the snow?"

The little girl looked back at her with wide eyes and nodded. Melody smiled, "I do as well."

The little girl smiled back, a big honest and innocent smile.

"I..." she hesitated before reaching back to bring forth a crystal bell on a silver chain. "I brought a gift for you." She handed the bell to the youngster who looked back up at her with wide eyes. "It's an enchanted crystal bell. If ever you feel lonely or sad, ring it and only I will hear it and come to you, wherever you are, to make it better."

The youngster giggled and laughed throwing her arms around Melody and Melody smiled, wrapping her arms back around. After a long moment they separated. "I'll be right back." Melody told the girl who was now playing with her dollie and the bell.

Walking back up to the staff again she smiled and asked, "Where do I sign the paperwork?"
