There was something soothing about just sitting down and running a brush over a pokemon's fur. Granted Rei had short fur being a ponyta but the results were the same. Xander kept brushing even as he looked over at his chatty little sister who was currently moving the headband back in place on Mid Boss.
Rei swished her tail drowsily and shifted to lean in Xander's direction. She asked the Bidoof in an attempt to keep herself from falling asleep.

Michelle finished messing with the headband that was on the pokemon on her lap and went back to brushing her tail. "And then the guy gave me a disbelieving look for sending out a Bidoof but Bob and I showed him that just because they don't normally look it, doesn't mean they aren't tough when they know what they're doing!" She giggled as she completed the story she had been telling for the past few minutes. "Anyone ever give you strange looks for Sem?"
Mid Boss replied seriously as she kept still.

"Sometimes." Xander said with a shrug. "People just don't take the more common pokemon seriously even though they should know better." The male moved to brush Rei's other side and chuckled. "When your pokemon have a type advantage and the experience then it shouldn't matter what they look like." But he had to admit, it was funny seeing the faces that others would make after getting beaten by an 'annoyingly common pokemon'.
Rei turned her head a bit to look at the other pokemon. She warned. Both of them could agree that things needed to be taken seriously but the pony knew, after all the experience of belonging to a trainer, that with out fun and relaxation then it could cause more trouble then it was worth.

Michelle tilted her head with a smile. "So anyway, I heard you fought Rory twice. How is he doing?" Oh sure she could call him up and ask but then you never know then someone over a phone could be lying about their health. It was much better to see them in person.
Mid Boss said almost defensively. Of course during some of the 'time off' shift was spent training but she wasn't going to mention that.

Xander smirked at her with a twinkle in his eyes. "Yes and it was a close call the first time but we beat him the second time around, right Rei?" He said the last part to the Ponyta and patted her back. He moved to put the brush away in his bag now that he was done grooming her. "He was doing just fine other then his ants in his pants syndrome. He didn't stay more then a day, just enough for two battles and a little chat over ice cream."
Rei dipped her head with a whinny when her trainer asked the question then looked back at the Bidoof.

Michelle laughed and set Mid Boss on the ground so she could stand up and put her hands on her hips. "Well then I'll have to catch him sometime too, maybe I will be able to get him to stay two days!" She boasted playfully.
Mid Boss countered. She had seen pokemon that didn't care what their trainers did, no matter how dangerous, so long as they were having fun while doing it.

"Oh really?" Xander asked and crossed his arms. "Alright then how about a bet? If you can keep Rory longer then I did last time once you catch up with him then I'll treat you to something of your choice. If you don't then you get to do a dare of my choice."
Rei nodded, knowing just what the Bidoof meant. She then looked between the two humans with an uneasy look. she said and shifted on her legs.

"You're on!" Michelle said excitedly and pumped a fist in the air. "Be prepared to pay up Xan!" The sixteen year old started to bounce on her heels. "In fact, might as well start right now, come on Mid, we have a Rory to hunt!" She waved at Xander then took off running.
Mid Boss and and slumped a bit, though she wouldn't admit to it. It wouldn't take long for her easily excitable trainer to... Ah, well there she goes. The Bidoof nodded in farewell then ran after the teen.

Xander just laughed and shook his head while Michelle said she was going now. "Have fun with that!" He yelled after her as she left. His mood changed once she was gone though and he frowned a bit. "Definitely getting left behind."
Rei said in turn at the retreating pokemon. She watched them go then looked back at Xander she she heard him mutter and leaned against him.
"You're right, even if they zoom off quick I still have you, Sem and Abs." Xander smiled at the Ponyta. "Come one, we have things to do."
