Ice Field: The temperature of the stadium suddenly drops several degrees (just enough so breath was visual and winter-wear is needed) as the stadium floor shifts for the upcoming battle. The floor turns into extremely slick ice which makes maneuverability, even simply standing, difficult. Randomly placed crystal-like pillars reach skyward from the frozen water, reflecting the florescent lights to all sides of the battle-field. This field gives a 25 HP attack boost to ICE type attacks.

It had been a long time since Oyumi had last stepped food into a Stadium - her travels had kept her quite busy the past year, after all. But after such a long break she'd finally decided it was time to try her hand at an actual battle once again. Choosing which of her pokémon to use had been the difficult part. They all needed the exercise, but of all of them it was likely Meimu who needed something to occupy her the most. As funny as it was to see the Zoroark mimicking her to trick her travel companions, she was fairly certain they didn't always appreciate it.

It was only after her decision had been made that she'd signed up to face a random opponent, and it was with a mild scowl that she slipped on her winter wear when she was directed to the ice field. She hated the cold. Thick coats were not Ninjutsu-friendly, nor were gloves and long scarves. But they were better than shivering through the entirety of the battle, so it was with some mild grumbling that she bundled up and stepped out onto the platform she'd been directed to.

She offered the trainer across the field a quick, friendly wave before throwing her pokéball and watching as Meimu appeared in a flash of light. And it seemed like the Zoroark had decided to disguise herself as Kamu today, the silly thing. She knew the illusion wasn't likely to last long, but she still couldn't help but smile at the sight of the dark-type sliding forward on the ice on hooves.

Genesis, on the other hand, had spent quite a bit of time in the Stadium recently. It was much more convenient for her, what with trainers and their powerful Pokémon always up for battles and a Pokémon Center nearby. The only trouble the Rocket Grunt had was keeping her identity a secret. She'd had to cycle through all her personas while she was here, and although she'd practiced enough to move fluidly from one to the other, it was tiring. She'd return to base for a brief rest after one more battle, she decided.

"Hey, there!" she called across the field, her voice modified to hold a slightly deeper note. "Good luck!"

Erebos did not exchange the same civilities to his opponent. He kept an eye on Genesis and, at her command, stepped onto the field. He was not too heavy-set, nor were his paws particularly large, but he managed to cling to the ice well enough. He was unsure how the Girafarig would fare but then again, he'd been surprised many times in battles, and would do his best to stay on guard.

Dipping his nose politely towards his opponent, he awaited the start of the match.

"Let's start this off, Lucario!" Genesis called. "Close Combat!"

Obeying immediately, Erebos lunged at the Girafarig. He used the slippery surface to his advantage, sliding quickly to get close to his opponent. Spinning as he neared, he used the velocity of his motion to kick out with his hind feet at his opponent.

The battle started almost too quickly for Oyumi's tastes, almost because the speedy start was just what she'd needed to kick her adrenaline into gear in spite of the cold. Her heart pounded as the other trainer called out their attack - a fighting type would be strong against Meimu, but she believed the Zoroark could overcome the odds. It might not be easy for her to do, but it could certainly be done if she put her mind to it.

Meimu returned the gesture the Lucario gave her, dipping her disguised head briefly before readying herself. Her ears flicked as the other trainer called out a command, and although she made the effort to dodge her opponent's kick she couldn't quite get her footing in time. The other's paws connected solidly with her chest, burying briefly in her thick fur and sending her skidding backward. The illusion flickered for a moment, the edges of her disguise blurring around the edges before she regained her focus with a quick shake of her head. But the Lucario could likely already figure out that she wasn't what she appeared to be - the kick had landed solidly on fur too thick to belong to a Girafarig, even if it hadn't injured her just yet.

"Don't lose focus, Meimu! Use Calm Mind!"

Meimu was quick to obey, closing her eyes as she stood a distance away from her opponent. She breathed deeply, readying herself and refocusing her energies. Right at the peak of her focus she began to glow softly, a soft pink that illuminated her borrowed form before it dissipated entirely.

Genesis watched the opposing Pokémon suspiciously. It almost looked as if its shape was changing, and although she couldn't see it clearly from where she was, she thought it looked like the illusive tricks her partner in crime's Zorua often played.

Well, there was one way to find out.

"Cross chop!"

What was suspicion to Genesis was certainty to Erebos. The Pokémon he spent time with most was a Zorua, and he recognized the illusion as soon as his paw had come in contact with the Meimu's true form.

Charging at his opponent while her eyes were still closed, he attempted to strike her with his glowing, strengthened forepaws.

Meimu let out a startled yelp when the Lucario's forepaws collided with her side, and this time the illusion fell completely. She let out a barking laugh, digging her claws into the ice with a mischievous grin. Oh, this Lucario was clever! To see through her so easily. She'd definitely have to bother him later if she could prod her trainer into letting her. Which really wouldn't be too hard - her trainer was wonderful about giving all her pokémon a little free time when they needed it.

Oyumi winced for a moment when the attack landed, but she breathed a quick sigh of relief at the Zoroark's quick recovery. It only took her a moment to decide on her next move - Meimu's normal attack wouldn't be very effective against a Lucario, so she'd have to use a different strategy than se normally would. "Alright, Meimu. Let's show them what you can do! Flamethrower!"

The Zoroark gave a bark of acknowledgment, her jaws parting slightly as flames began to lick at her muzzle. After a brief moment to build up the fire, she roared and sent a burst of flames in the direction of her opponent.

((It's still Friday because I didn't go to bed yet right. 8D -SHOT-
But ergh sorry for the late tag. x( Might continue to be slow for a while since I'm really close to finals, but after two or so more weeks, my tags should be faster. *W*))

The Zoroark's revelation didn't bring with it the advantage Genesis had hoped for. She thought it would have been busy adjusting its illusion long enough for Erebos to get another hit in, but before he could so much as swipe, he'd been seared with a quick blast of flame. Evidently, both Pokémon and trainer alike were fast. This would be a tough battle.

"Stay close!" Genesis called, knowing that, despite the flames, Erebos worked better with physical attacks. "Drain Punch!"

Unable to dodge atop the slick ice, Erebos took the flamethrower directly. It was powerful, but thankfully, it left no residual burns.

Seeking to alleviate some of the sting, Erebos ran through the trail of water left in the flamethrower's wake. It led him directly to Meimu, and ribbons of green energy spiraled around his paw as he prepared to attack.
