Nae wandered out into the field, her head hung low and her heart filled with guilt and many sorrows. She had fallen for someone else only to have it not returned. He had been a handsome stallion; a gorgeous black coat with white strange markings who seemed to flirt with her like she was his burning passion. When she had confronted him about her feelings for him, of course he had only laughed in her face and then ran off to be with someone else. He had only been toying with her and she should have known it from the start. She couldn't help the sadness that formed in her eyes as she felt completely defeated. Her hooves carried her to the waters edge and she looked at herself in wonder, why was it that she was so naive, why couldn't she see things as they were?

Helushka had been hanging out near a pond. He had loved and lost and was also gazing into the water so that he may look into his own eyes. They said the eyes are the windows to the soul and so far he wasn't so impressed. But he guessed if he was he may just very well be narcissitic. He was proud but not vain. A sound caught his ears and he glanced up from his reflection to see a beautiful young mare appear across from him. The foliage mostly hid him so he had a chance to gaze at her. She seemed to forlorn and it reach out deep into his heart and freed him from his own woes.

Nae was a little more than upset with herself, it always had the same ending. She flirted back with the stallions or trusted the mares telling her secret things only for her to end up getting the worst end of the deal when it was all over with. Nae glared at her reflection in the water, she didn't hate herself, not at all. She only wished that things would changed and change in ways for the better, the negativity was wearing on her heart. A heavy sigh escaped her and she closed her eyes as she tried to think of a way to change who it was she is, and how she could not be so naive to fall for everything that is spoken as truth.

Helushka felt something slither against his leg and he looked down to see a snake glide across the water. He shivered and moved away. His hooves made a sucking sound as he pulled them from the muddy bottom of the pond. Splashing he moved more onto the shore and shook himself off. He then glanced back over to the mare to see if he disturbed her. "Hello?" he called across the disturbed water. It rippled out towards her as his voice rang out.

Nae opened her eyes when she heard a little bit of a commotion happening rather close to her. Her soft amber eyes scanned the area and then she noticed the handsome stallion. "Hello.."She managed the get the word out but nothing else. She didn't want to press her luck, she was just trying to figure out a way to get over this mess. Now a stallion was almost laying before her and was probably going to taunt and tease her to. It was going to be to much for her heart to take, she sighed once more from the sadness.

Helushka smiled at her. He hated to see mares so sad, so forlorn as if the world as been cruel. And in some cases, that is true. His head tilted and he nickered gently, "Why are you so sad? What cares weigh so heavily upon you?" Helushka took a step back towards the water and dipped his muddy hoof in and swirled it. He gazed back up at her and took her in. She was certainly lovely, a cerynei like himself, and if he was not mistaken...yes, a fellow member of his herd. Now he really smiled. A beautiful cerynei mare in his herd and she was here and said hello back!

Nae watched the stallion for a few moments and observed his behavior. He didn't seem to be as bold or straight forward like the other stallions. "Deception, it enjoys my company." She spoke the words softly, there was no reason to speak such a sad truth in a loud tone. "I fall for it endlessly." With the words out of her own mouth, she felt her heart sink even deeper. She knew it all along, just how much it affected her but she continued to jump through the hoops just for the attention. "Why does it even matter?" She didn't mean for the words to sound so harsh but she was even doubting herself, what did it matter to someone else; if they were in her herd or not, why she was so sad.

He was rinsing off the other muddy hoof but he paused as she spoke. His pale eyes looked up at her once more. "If it likes your company you should make it loathe your company so that you may be free of it forever." He wasn't one for wisdom and advise for the heart but he did like to offer comfort although he did try occasionally to give advise. Whether it was good advice was up to the one hearing it. His ears flicked towards her and he tilted his head once more. "Why does what even matter? For whatever it is, it seems to cause you pain. One should be happy. It's our born right to be so."

Nae felt her mood lighten just the slightest bit when he spoke to her about how she should make it loathe her company. She had no real idea how to that exactly but somehow hearing it come from him made her feel a little better. "If it is our born right, are you happy?" She couldn't help but find herself be curious as to the state of the stallion. Was it possible that he was more familiar with her depressed state than she realized or was he truly happy and was just offering advice on how to get that way herself so that she didn't bring down his mood. Her heart seemed to sink again because she was starting to think she might be a burden and could bring down his happy mood with her dark one.

Suddenly he was in the water and her moved across the pond, closing the distance between them. His head tilted back and he gazed up at her. His pale eyes studied her from this angle and he smiled softly. "I'm happy, but I hurt too. I'm not immune to the pains of this world and its disappointments. I feel heartache and loss. But I feel happiness too and I do only because I take it. I take it because I deserve it." He glanced down for a moment, a memory flittering across his mind like a hot brand before he looked back up at her. His eye flared with passion but not the passion of those silly stallions she may have known. "Are you going to fight for your happiness?"

Without a second of hesitation, once she saw the stallion was coming across the water, she immediately retreated. However she paused when he stopped and simply looked at her. "I don't know how to fight for happiness....or how to make deception loathe me...."As the words were spoken, her gentle amber eyes shifted from left to right. She was very uncomfortable with not only the situation but herself more so than before. She had never been asked something of the sort, she never even asked herself about happiness. For some reason, she found herself wanting to know how the stallion experienced his happiness but she bit her tongue and didn't speak a word of the question that was burning in her mind. Instead she figured it was best to introduce herself, they might be in the same herd but that didn't mean they were on a name basis. She certainly didn't have a clue as to what his name could possibly be. "My name is Naerdiel..." She spoke the words looking at him and his pale blue eyes but then she had to look down at the ground because she was getting nervous.

He moved closer but only to get out of the water. Clamoring onto the bank, he shook himself once more, careful to not get her wet before facing her. He eyed her and then just smiled. Smiles where the gates to happiness. That's what he believed anyway. "First, pretty Naerdiel, smile. Second, face what tears at your heart. One must come to terms with what they have been through. Overcome it. It wont happen overnight, it is something one must work at." With that he gave her a bow and introduced himself. "Helushka, scout and patrol. I'm glad to meet you, Naerdiel." He rose from his bow.

Naerdiel heard his words about smiling but she wasn't sure about the emotion that brough on the smile. She was sure that she had to have smiled at one point before, a true genuine smile, but she couldn't remember those days. Her past and the happy memories if there were any were buried between the sadness that was the here and now. She only felt more guilt and sorrow for herself because she started to realize that she had done it all to herself. No one forced her to do any of it, but she did it of her own free will. "I am not brave enough to face it, I realize I am at fault but that is as far as it goes." She decided to at least own up to it, nothing could hurt her anymore if she was just honest right? "How long did it take you? You speak like it was a very long journey for you.."She let the last word almost linger on her lips, she felt weird and not like herself for being so outspoken with the stallion. But if she was going to get anywhere and improve herself, she needed to come out of her shell a little bit but she knew it was only a matter of time before she retreated back inside her safe zone. "It is a pleasure to meet you though." She let her eyes travel over him briefly and then glued them to the ground. She didn't want to feel uncomfortable like this anymore, she just wanted the feeling to go away.
