Jove waited outside the gymnasium, a rolled up piece of parchment tied neatly and sealed with a red ribbon. A sort-of gift for his new "little sibling". The pup had been both nervous and excited for that morning, when he would meet the student he would be mentoring. He thought back to when Ren had picked him up and helped him along at first, and now that he had a little gryphon sister, he quite liked being a big brother.
The little ghost thought about all the things he could teach a first year, like good, quiet places to study, and how to always find the school again if you went into the woods, and what classes were fun and which ones to avoid. But in the end, it was all up to the other student. They probably had lots of questions, maybe even enough to keep the ghost busy for a whole semester!
Jove paced in front of the doors and chewed his lip, hopefully his student would arrive soon!

Haze wasn't all too knowledgeable on the whole 'big brother' concept. So when the swamp dragon signed up for this thing, he actually thought he was getting a real big brother, or someone bigger than he was. He was actually quite excited for this!
Until it was time to make his way to the gym, where they had arranged to meet, Haze took his time soaking in the swamp out behind the monster dorms. Maybe his big brother would like swamps as well? He had to, right? If he was his big brother and all that! It was only natural that brothers liked the same things! Oh yes! That meant that they could spend the entire time doing everything he liked! OH, he could hardly contain his excitement.
Finally, he pulled himself ashore, beaching himself for a moment before getting to his feet and making his way to the set meeting place. When he did arrive, he didn't see anyone in sight. Was he early? "Where are you big brother???" He called, not realizing he was right in front of him..
..and he was standing on his tail.

...No.
No no no. This was not happening.
Jove had met Haze once before, and he could not imagine a more unpleasant little brother. The dragon had no sense of manners, and called him short, among other things. It didn't matter that Jove had to currently crane his neck at a ridiculous angle to look at the stupidly tall student, you would think he'd have some sensitivity considering his own ungainly height!
Ears flattened backwards grumpily, and his tail fell to the ground unenthusiastic. He focused his most stern glare as the other student approached. And approached... And clearly he was going to stop...
"HEY!" Jove shouted as the student did not in fact stop, and trod on the poor pup's wispy tail. That hurt! He reached up and swatted the dragon in the chest with the roll of parchment.

With no one in sight, Haze was half tempted to leave and check out the cafeteria to see if there was anything he could eat while he waited. However, he heard someone cry out, and a light swat on his chest that caused him to cast his gaze downwards. Blinking, he looked a the boil dumbfoundedly, almost expecting something to happen. Oh.. right.. he was standing on his tail, HE was supposed to do something. Lifting his foot, he grinned down at the boil. "Sorry, your just so tiny, I didn't even notice you all the way down there."
Of course, he didn't mean it as an insult, but clearly it sounded as though he was mocking his height. Then again, maybe he was?
"Hey, have you seen someone? A big brother around here? I would describe them, but I have no idea what a big brother looks like. OH! Like me I guess!" He grinned again, puffing his chest out proudly.
It would be a miracle if Haze ever graduated to second year.

Just... so... tiny...
Jove clenched his jaw and forced himself to take a deep breath as he whisked his tail out from under the offending dragon. Deep breaths were supposed to help living things calm down, that's what Ren always said. Although as Haze continued he realized it must not work on ghosts like it did for the living.
With his ears flat back, the pup resisted the urge to just walk away, and instead handed Haze the roll of parchment. Which the dragon could open to reveal a map of the school grounds, with some points of interest circled like the cafeteria and library, and in the bottom right corner, his name and skellyphone number in case his new little brother had questions. But now he was hoping the dragon didn't know how to use technology, because he had probably just handed over the key to 24 hour short comments and idiotic harassment.

Continuing to search the area for his 'big brother', Haze began to think it was a set up when he didn't see anyone leaping out to take him to do everything he wanted to do. Man, big brothers suck!
Casting his gaze down, way down, to the tiny boil, he reached out to take the parchment offered to him. "What's this?" Opening it, he found-- "I'm I to colour this? Its kind of a boring picture to colour, man.." It was clear the swamp dragon had never even seen a map in his life, much like everything else around here.
"You don't talk much, do you?" He asked, raising a brow as he cocked his head to the side, still trying to figure out just what this picture was.

Jove let out a resigned sigh, burying his face in one palm. This was surely not going to be the fun mentoring session he had signed up for, but he had signed up for SOMETHING, and a gentleman would not back out of a written agreement... No matter how desperately he might want to.
Firming his resolution to see the matter through to the end, Jove took the map from his less than bright companion, rotated it ninety degrees so it faced the right way, and pointed at the little figure that represented the gym. Then he tugged the dragon's glowing dangling... whatever it was, just to make sure he was paying attention, and then pointed at the gym. See? Gym on paper, Gym behind them! This was where they were.
Hopefully if Haze gained nothing else from this encounter, he would at least be able to tell the difference between a map and a scareling's colouring book.

Haze was still trying to figure out what it was that was on the paper, when he felt something tug at his feelers. Shrieking aloud, nearly dropping the map in the process, Haze turned to find the culprit, Jove, who was trying to get his attention. "What was that for? Honestly! Those are sensitive, y'know!" Loosing a small whimper, the dragon tenderly rubbed tenderly at the feeler now safely in his hold.
Pouting still, he gave the boil a look, before letting his gaze fall upon the map again. What? They were here? Where was here? The Gym? Oh.. it was a map. "Now why didn't you just say it was a map, huh?" He asked, grinning from ear to ear as he slapped the ghost boil on the back. Though it was a playful slap, coming from Haze, Jove would be lucky if he didn't knock him over from that, him being as small as he was.
"So.. do you want me to colour the map or something?"

The pup's eyes went wide and his ears flattened upon hearing that awful shriek, he hadn't expected that sort of reaction! Jove immediately regretted his harsh action. He offered an apologetic pat, ever so gently, as a way of reassuring Haze that he got the message, and wouldn't recklessly do something like that again.
With that done, and a smile once again on the dragon's face, Jove felt a little bit of relief. So he did know what a map was! Maybe things would go smoother now tha-
The pup suddenly felt himself pitched forward, struck hard from behind, and it took all the windmilling in the world to get himself righted again before he fell onto his face. He barely began to bristle indignantly when Haze's next question had him burying his face in his palm once more. Deep breaths. He would get through this!
Instead of answering Haze's question, Jove pointed at the little Gym on the map, and slid his finger up to another part of the map. The cafeteria. That's where they were going first.

At Jove's 'apology', Haze only gave him a look, as if he had been expecting more than a mere pat on the shoulder. Looks like the boil rarely did speak after all.
Completely oblivious to the consequences of his actions, he continued to examine the map, curious to know where everything led to. He had been in the school for well over a year--still hadn't graduated to the next year--and had rarely gone anywhere else aside from classes, the dorms and the swamp out back. Maybe with this map, that would change..?
"What?" He asked, watching as Jove pointed out their destination. "Why are we going there? Are you hungry? Oh.. you need milk right? To help you grow?" Not that he would complain! He always welcomed a good meal!

The pup bristled. No, he wasn't hungry, he was showing the big oaf around! There were some really tasty things at the cafeteria! Where on earth did the dragon get these ideas, that he needed milk to grow? He was growing just fine!
Jove made a grumbling murmur sound as he started heading in the direction of the cafeteria, forcing his tail to curl up out of sheer practicality. For him, it was like forcing a smile. But it was better than getting stepped on again!
