It was a day and Rep had been on twitter and things had been said.
He hadn't had any hot chocolate since the morning. It was getting hard to be nice.
He didn't look very humble as he walked into Rin's room and stared staunchly at the floor, hands balled into fists.
"You wanted me?" It was easy to be abrupt rather than apologetic.

Rin had almost all of her colour returned at this point and appeared to have been waiting. She gestured at the empty chair beside herself, "William, have a seat."
She was acting as though this was her office and this was perfectly normal. Ignore the bandages and hospital s**t. Just her and him.
"I'm glad to see you came."

Rep sat down entirely too heavily on the chair, like a teenager being called from their room for a scolding. He wasn't angry at Rin, wasn't angry at being called to the infirmary, was simply angry at the complete lack of any sort of buzz in his system and a complete craving for sugar.
"Aye. Glad." He still couldn't look at her injuries, it made his heart hurt.

"You've been avoiding me?" It was a question and yet... it was also stating the obvious, "Why?"
Her piercing gaze scanned him over, it seemed the chair had been placed on her bad side last. Anytime he glanced at all her way he would be met with a bandaged stump.

"Because I figured that was what was best for you. You didn't seem too happy to have me stressing you out last time. I mean you passed out just from talking."
He glanced up only once at her before looking away just as hurriedly with a chord of guilt.
"I thought everything that needed said was said."

"Noooo. You wanted to go. I said you only did because you were being selfish. I passed out because I just found out I lost a ******** arm and was suffering blood loss and having really good s**t dripped into me. I was tired," She was scooting back to sit up slowly against her pillows. "Can you ******** blame me for passing out?" Yeah, she sounded annoyed Rep. With or without hot cocoa in you.
"It wasn't what was best for me. I told you that. It was what was best for you."

Rep scowled irritably. "Then tell me what good you having me pinned here does either of us. Do you want to get on my case like Sasha? Cause I can come over there, you can hit me, stab me, call me names, whatever the ******** takes your fancy."
He met her gaze, no longer looking at the missing limb. "Because I don't know what good I can do you."

Rin looked irritable but replied calmly, "I'm not Sasha. I would hope you'd have made this miraculous discovery long before now." Her teeth clenched tightly together while eying him over.
"Visiting me though and facing what you did every day while making sure all my needs were met would have been a nice start but clearly I wasn't worth it."

He raised a hand and pointed in her direction. "Don't give me that s**t. You weren't worth it. My arse. I wasn't here because I couldn't face other people, because I hurt one of the people..." his voice cracked ".. one of the ********> people I said I'd never hurt."
"I haven't even ******** summoned Tracey since and I don't know how I ever will in ******** good faith ever again." He snarled but it wasn't a sound of anger, more of desperately holding onto fury in case it slid into some other emotion instead.
"So DON'T give me the ******** I'm not worth it act."

"You still couldn't face me on your own," she snorted with a slight smirk though the look on her face appeared entirely humorless, "I guess I should give you credit. You did now. After I IMed you. But possibly on my last day stuck in this joint."
"Better late than never, I guess," She curled a lip in mild agitation, "So. I think you're going to sit there and listen to me b***h until I dismiss you. How does that sound?"

"No. I couldn't. " He stated flatly. "I couldn't face you on my own. I ******** flipped out and ran out of here that day you passed out and I couldn't come back." It probably wasn't what she wanted to hear, but right now he didn't know what she wanted to hear at all.
"And that sounds fantastic." he drawled with a sharp sarcastic edge. His life had been full of lectures.

"Why?" Rin demanded as she attempted to turn her body to better face him, "Why did you 'flip out' and why were you 'unable to come back'? Just.. no ******** excuses man. I want the truth."

Rep's anger seemed to visibly ice over before her eyes, his posture carefully stiffening as if neatly tucking his feelings under the rug. But he wasn't hiding them, simply trying to get a handle on them, thinking back to that exact moment.
He remembered. "Because you looked too much like someone I knew. I had to leave. There was no option or choice involved. I had to leave."
Clasping his hands he went on "I didn't come back because I was ******** scared, and it was uncomfortable, and because it was easier to run. Like it always is."

"Easier for you maybe," Rin frowned deeply. "It made me feel like s**t though. That you didn't want to even try to overcome that knowing I wanted you to come back... and uh...," she rolled over on her side and brought her arm around to keep herself that way, "...who?"

"It wasn't meant to make you feel like s**t. I'm just too good at convincing myself not to do things." He shrugged sadly.
"Her. Mum." he grunted irritably, deliberately trying to veer conversation away from the bizarre moment he'd had where one bed had seemed too much like another years before. "I'm just not ******** coping well with this. I have people on twitter saying that being my friend is more dangerous than being my enemy. And they are ******** right. You didn't deserve this."
