Eira walked slowly down the hall, pausing every so often to lower the box and make sure she wasn't about to ram into anything. The box she carried at the moment was far from small, but thankfully light. She had chosen lighter box for the first trip, since finding the room was the hard part. When the fairy girl found the room she gave herself a mental pat on the back. After she plopped the box down by the door, heading back out and grabbing a rather heavier box, with a duffel thrown over her shoulder as well. If she doubled up she should have this done in a few trips. As she walked she tried to take in the building and keep her mind off the weight she carried.

Gavin had been wandering restlessly around the campus all day, pacing from one end of the school to the other as if he were trying to lose some kind of pursuer. Of course he was to some degree, but in this case the pursuer took on the form of some heavier thoughts that Gavin really didn't want to confront.
At first he'd tried hanging out with his bro, Theo, which had only caused the thoughts to crowd around him more heavily. It had been stupid to think that would even help much, so much of what he was trying to avoid thinking about was associated with Theo. Not that Gavin would let it prevent him from hanging out with Theo, it was just that right now he didn't want to face it. Then he'd tried helping out his brother Edmund in the garden, but then he'd seen all these purple flowers the exact shade of Sergei's eyes, so that was a bust too.
Gavin was tempted to just shoot himself to get this melodramatic bullshit over with. This wasn't like him at all. The last thing he wanted was to catch himself moping over things because they were the color of "his" eyes. Sure Gavin had expected to be a bit upset, his best friend had basically moved away with no promise of ever being back. Yet what was worrying Gavin was the level of upset he was. That couldn't be normal. He had to find something to do though but being on his own didn't help, and it seemed like everything else was already associated with Sergei. He needed to find something distracting, something or someone new.
Luck usually was a good friend to Gavin and it seemed like today was no exception. As he went back into the hallways leading to the dorms he spotted someone he'd never seen before. Someone female, fae, gorgeous, and carrying way too many things. Perfect. Gavin trotted over closer to her, picking up speed a bit and putting on a friendly face.
"Hey there you need help with that?"

Well, her first interaction with a fellow student could be worse. Far worse. Eira eyed the boy standing before her and returned his grin. She did however note his smile didn't seem to fully reach his eyes, but beggars and choosers. She managed something akin to a wave with her fingers, despite the box. She couldn't help but think how lucky she was, wondering if she could sucker him into carrying everything or if that was pushing it.
"I would, well, I would adore some help. You don't mind?" Her voice playful, as she moved to offer the box to him. "My name is Eira, and you are?" Mr. Sad Eyes seemed like someone to befriend, even if only because he probably knew where all the fun would be.

Even if Gavin would be horrified to know Eira could pick up on his sad eyes, he couldn't find anything else to complain about from his first impression of her. Even her voice had a nice sound to it. He moved in a bit to take the box from her, finding it to be a tad heavy, but not too heavy for him to handle.
"The names Gavin, and nah I don't mind. Wasn't really doing anything to begin with and I'm always willing and able to help a pretty face." He gave her a flirtatious smile and a wink. "So this'a way?" He nodded with his head towards the direction Eira had been headed.

A cute guy winking and flirting, what wasn't to like? She gladly handed the box over and resisted the urge to throw the duffle over his shoulder too. "Yeah, if I remember correctly, just down this hallway and around the corner. Hope it isn't too heavy!" She wondered what could get a guy like him down, with most people she didn't think twice if they seemed a little off. Granted she didn't know Gavin at all, but he seemed the type not to really get sad.
Eira wasn't much of the type to go out of her way to help people, or cheer someone up, but since a cute guy was involved? A little flirting might cheer him up and that was one thing she could manage, if only to repay his help. Before they began walking she poked his nose and returned his wink from before. "Glad to have such a handsome helper."

Starting off down the hallway, Gavin shifted the box slightly to distribute the weight better. He took the time to flash another smile at her at the handsome comment. It had been a little while since he'd done any back and forth flirting so he was feeling a little rusty, wasn't going to stop him from trying anyway.
"Always aim to please, looks and... otherwise." He chuckled a little and waggled his eyebrows jokingly. "But seriously, no the box isn't too heavy, I've got it. So this your first day at the school or have you been to classes already?" He knew sometimes kids came in for classes long before they moved in. He'd never seen Eira around but he was curious if he'd just missed her or if she'd just not been there at all.

"No classes yet! Thank goodness, though I do have a test tomorrow. To see where to place me." She shrugged and adjusted the duffle. A sly grin seemed to sit pleasantly on her face, suited to her features as sweetly as any expression. "My old school is being slow with my records, so they want to test me, then classes in a couple of days, I assume. Regardless I have some free time, and I plan to have some fun!" She giggled a little, bumping his shoulder gently. "So ya gonna point me in the direction of some fun? Since you so aim to, how did you say it?" She paused in mock confusion before continuing. "Oh yes, please." The fairy couldn't help but laugh despite herself.
"Of course only if it isn't too much trouble. I wouldn't want to impose, or take time away from your friends or girlfriend... boyfriend?" She eyed the distance, they didn't have far till her door. Might as well probe a little.

Gavin had to laugh too at the comment about pleasing. Eira's laughter seemed infectious. Though maybe it was just Gavin needed to laugh.
"Oh yeah I'm sure I can make sure you find your way to some fun." He smirked a little giving her a sidelong glance. "Would it be a problem if it was taking time away from a girlfriend or boyfriend?" He paused, waiting in front of the door for her to open it since she had a hand free. Making sure he caught her eye before he spoke again, Gavin spoke a little more seriously this time. "Not to worry though, there's no boyfriend or girlfriend to get jealous of me taking you out to show you a good time."

"Well a girl has to keep her options in sight. So to speak." Eira paused as they arrived at her door. She extended her hands to take the box back. "You were a valiant help, but I release you into the wild. I need to sort this stuff out before I can get any more." A grimace was managed to show how much fun that task would be. "No need to fall on that grenade, but I do hope you will let me know if there is anything I can do to make up for your show of kindness?" Her smiled was genuine here, she did appreciate the help. It was nice to meet someone pleasant and good looking, very nice indeed.
She wondered if any future interactions would go so well, she could only hope. Eira couldn't help but be a bit nervous about making new friends. She was awesome of course, but would they see how cool she was? Were their tastes so refined? A date wouldn't hurt either, but she wasn't sure if she should jump down that sort of thing so quickly. Making a few friends would be a good start. Well the best start would be to get this room in order.

Despite the opportunity being wide open Gavin thought maybe now wasn't the best time to leap into date territory. Besides grappling with his own feelings, he thought Eira might need a little room to breathe and settle in.
"Alright then if you're sure." He handed the box back over with a smile. "I'll let you know if I think of a good way to repay me." He gave her a wink. "But in the meantime, there's a Christmas... Halloween ball hybrid coming up really soon. We never had anything for Halloween so I guess they decided to mash the two together. Should be interesting at the least. Maybe I'll see you there?" He settled his hands into his pockets.
