This RP is between Calixte x Ithillún (Mahogany Sunset) and Cheveyo (Theidren)

User ImageThe blue stallion stood in a small and lush clearing munching on some leafy vegitaion. Having just returned from a scouting stint he found himself quite famished. Sure he could have snagged something while he was scouting but he always tried to keep his focus on his purpose. Plus he very much enjoyed this quite clearing located in the Vanaras herd lands. The day was crisp and mostly clear, the sun peeping through white fluffy clouds and throwing mottled patterns across everything.

Cheveyo began to think about how he was just starting to feel a little more comfortable in the herd. He still had some reservations about the whole situation, but slowly and with help he was coming to terms with them. It helped a lot that he able to get away to think when he was scouting or when needed on patrol. But he also enjoyed that he was still helping his new herd. This helped in immensely to make the transition back into herd life. That was where he was meant to be, and he knew it. However dealing with his past, and the fact that he had spent much too long the wandering knight made him doubt himself often. Cheveyo did not enjoy these feelings. He snorted and stomped the ground with a hoof realizing he was being far too dark for his liking.

He strode into a bright patch of sunlight has he continued his munching and thought on recent happy events. The Vanaras herd protector Kenton and his mate, the mistress of ceremonies; Calixte had just welcomed three beautiful daughters into their family and into the herd. When the baskets had been revealed to everyone it had been such a joyous moment. Cheveyo had also been interested in the whole purpose of the baskets. The stallion had been around a foal or two. He couldn’t remember much of this sort of thing from his past, so he had to ask someone to explain. Cheveyo blushed slightly as a herd member explained to him, what a private thing. But he was amazing that the magic baskets kept the little foals safe while they prepared to make their way into the world. As of yet he had not had much contact with the newest herd members since they had emerged. Cheveyo has only briefly seen them a few times as Kenton and Calixte introduced them to the wild and wonderful life around them. Cheveyo gave a chuckle as he managed to find a large bush of creeping honeysuckle. What an adventure that must be he thought with a chuckle. He stopped with a thought a strand of honeysuckle in his mouth, what would he do if he even had his own babbins?

Calixte was exhausted. She didn't remember going through this much when she'd had Tinuviel and Enaran - but then again, they'd practically raised each other. Tin had taken care of Enaran, and Enaran had instilled just the right amount of playfulness and responsibility in his older sister. But these girls were different.

She didn't want to say it was awful, but these last few weeks had been the most taxing of her life, or at least, it felt that way. At the moment, her footsteps were being dogged by none other than Ithillún. Though she was often silent, Lún had become notorious for pushing that image off a cliff whenever she got excited about something. For example, just a few nights ago, she had discovered that her lilies glowed in the dark... That had been a sleepless night. Cali and Kenton had spent the entire night and every one since trying to convince the child to go to sleep, but to no avail. And yet, the filly was as energetic as ever. It made no sense. The girl should have been hallucinating by now.

With a sigh, Cali looked back at her daughter, who was busily helping pick a few late-blooming fall flowers. A nearby two-legger had done a beautiful job weaving baskets for the herd gatherers to use, and they had been indispensable. "Lún, let's take these back to the gatherers' clearing, now, okay? We'll sort them later." Lowering her head, Cali slipped her head through the conveniently large handle and headed back through the forest to the herd grounds. However, on the way there, she spotted someone, and stopped abruptly.

Cheveyo was off duty, and Lún was still trailing close behind her. Struck by an idea, Cali approached the blue stallion where he was eating. "Cheveyo, may I ask something of you?" she asked, her fatigue seemingly growing worse by the second. All she wanted to do was go back to her nest and take a nap. "Would you mind looking after Lún for a bit? I need to get some rest." Cali did her best to beg with her eyes, but she knew just how well males took hints sometimes - which was not at all. Praying to the gods, she hoped he would understand. Though she knew he had no children, this would be good experience for later, wouldn't it? At least, that was Cali's justification for asking this of him. She hoped it was good enough.

Ithillún had been focused on the flowers when her mother had told her it was time to go. She had been absorbed in picking tiny manzanita blossoms one by one with her deft, cloven hooves - it was a job that only a foal, very petite mare, or usdia (whatever that was) could do, as most adult hooves would crush the flowers, rather than gently pluck them. There were also a few pink cyclamen in the area, which were what her mother had been gathering. They were Lún's favorite - they were a pretty rose color, and scoop-shaped.

But, in the end, it was time to go. Lún picked up her mostly empty basket; it was the kind made for foals. Deep and narrow, the shape kept flowers from escaping even when the basket was knocked jarringly against the knees of most foals. However, Lún was tall for her age - the basket bumped gently against her upper foreleg with every step, rather than getting bounced around.

When her mother stopped, Lún almost ran into her, so lost in thought was she. Looking around her mother's slim figure, she saw Cheveyo, one of the patrol leaders. Unlike her sister, Amaltheia, Lún hadn't had the urge to follow their father on patrol yet, and so didn't know much about them. However, she did know that when Daddy came home, he was usually pretty tired and hungry. She regarded Cheveyo with a quiet curiosity, and listened carefully to what her mother was saying. This stallion was going to watch her for a little while? But she didn't really know him... A little bit uneasy at the thought of perhaps being left with a herd member she didn't know very well, Lún waited apprehensively to see what he would say to her mother's request.
