Name: Muburine(M’rine) Age: 13 Turns Gender: Male Sexual Orientation: Hetero Craft/Rank: Apprentice Baker/Candidate
History: His mother moved to Namor Hold when she married his father eighteen Turns ago. She’s a baker, now working in the Lord Holder’s house. They met while his father was traveling to sell his trained canines. Muburine has two sisters. One is three Turns older, and the other is two Turns younger. He gets along with his siblings fairly well with minimal quarreling. Several times the family has traveled to visit his mother’s parents. While he likes his father’s canines, they are not more than a passing fancy. His real interest lies with his mother’s baking.
He’s been picking up baking tips since he can remember; which was since he’s been allowed into the kitchens. Muburine became a dedicated little helper in the kitchens. Running errands and stirring small bowls became his proud responsibility. It was his mother’s Naming day. She had the day off, and he being only seven, wanted to do something special for her. With the help of the kitchen staff, he baked a small cake for her. It leaned somewhat, but he thought it looked just fine with the icing on. Thanking the kitchen staff, the young boy hurried out. He wanted to show her the cake before it fell.
Unfortunately he turned a corner right into an older boy carrying a wooden carving. His precious first cake ended up over the both of them. The (silly he thought) carving was dropped and broken. Since then he has suffered under the unwelcome attention of Thrarothar. He has since learned to dread encounters with the older boy, and detest competitions.
As he reached twelve Turns, he graduated into apprenticeship and began learning more intimately. Haven been involved with baking for a good number of Turns already he learned fast. No longer did he do little stuff. He was learning ingredients and the theory behind baking. His favorite part was the application of it though: the eating. Muburine was a boy, mostly, content.
He was playing late one afternoon with some other children at the edge of a field. A Searchdragon, though he didn’t know it at the time, surprised the whole group by landing in the field. They stopped playing to stare as the dragon turned to look at them. Nobody moved as the rider slide down and strode over to them. He picked out Muburine and said that he could become a candidate. Muburine was excited until Thrarothar strode into the group. For a brief moment he hoped that he was going to get away from the older boy’s rivalry. The rider made his heart sink to the ground as he said Thrarothar could also become a candidate.
When Malvren Weyr was overthrown he fled with the rest of the riders and those loyal to them to Trine.
Description: At thirteen Turns, Muburine stands 4’11” but he slouches somewhat. He has chestnut brown hair, kept very short, often with a dusting of flour. His eyes are like honey in sunlight, and his skin is a pale brown. He would tan respectably if he spent any time in the sun. Kitchen fires don’t do much for tans.
There is a large scar on his right forearm. An old burn from when he accidently leaned against a hot oven. Muburine wears plain brown tunic and trews for working in the kitchen with an apron tied over it. He is heavy set for his age; too many filched sweets.
When he reaches his full growth he’ll be 6'2". His slouching posture, due to leaning over counters most of the day, has him appearing 5’10”. Many cooks say he’s too tall for the kitchens, though he’s great for getting that jar on the back of the top shelf.
Personality: Being a cook in general and a baker specifically, one tends to find oneself to the center of a certain amount of attention. Muburine has a good heart and goodwill towards others. He isn’t above dispensing small tidbits to those who come around the kitchen with a good word for the cooks. He likes the appreciation for his office. If someone knows this and plays their cards right it is quite simple to pull the rug over his eyes. For all his friendliness towards others, he is naïve to the ways that others will use to get what they want. He believes that life should be fair, although it upsettingly isn’t.
Muburine is a modest boy. He never boasts about or flaunts his own work, though he gives others compliments where it’s due. As long as he knows it is good then he is satisfied; that being said, he gives nothing less than his all to make his work the best it can be. Knowing that he has done his best is reward enough, and knowing others will enjoy it, so he doesn’t have to go seeking compliments. If there’s one thing he absolutely hates its confrontations and contests. Muburine goes through great lengths to avoid them. He doesn’t see the need of trying to be better than that person over there. The kind of contest he despises the most is the kind Thrarothar loves the best. He can never seem to win against the older boy who insists on a contest of some sort every time they meet.
With his unspoken rival’s constant hounding, he has become jaded and pessimistic toward contests. No matter how hard he tries to come out on top he has always lost against Thrarothar. Now he fears to enter even normal contests. Fearing that he will lose them all too. Crushing defeat over and over is not something he handles well. Muburine views every person as fundamentally good; with Thrarothar being his sole exception. No matter how many times a person may trick him for extra treats before dinner he forgives them. A cruel joke wasn’t really meant to hurt. He believes that with enough forgiveness a person can change for the better.
It isn’t like him to mince words. Muburine is open and honest with what he thinks. His candid remarks sometimes aren’t what others wish to hear. That’s ok, he knows he’ll eventually win them through their stomach. One-thing-at-a-time. Do not disturb Muburine while he is concentrating on something. He can become utterly focused on one thing to the exclusion of all else. Multitasking is absolutely a foreign concept to him. Distract him whilst he is in the middle of baking and whatever he was working on will be ruined. Too much of this spice or too long in the oven are the usual culprits.
Muburine is about as far from high-strung as one can be. He refuses to be stressed by the timetables required by cooking. His defended motto is: “It will all come together.” Oh for sure other things can wind him up. Like how the woodcarvers survive on one commission at a time. He’ll take his guaranteed, for sure work any day. His heavy set is due to a case of gluttony. The one thing he cannot say no to is food. While cooking, his excuse is that he needs to ‘test it’ to be sure it came out right. At meal times, Muburine like three to four helpings. He says it’s because he doesn’t like seeing good food go to waste.

Heya! Muburine looks great to me, my only point is his height. An average boy of 13 stands about 5'0". Coming out at 5'9" in the end makes him approximately average in height; certainly not too tall for the kitchens.
If you can tweak this for me he'll be good to go!

Apparently I'm not up to date on boy height. XD Should I make him taller now, and make his adult height taller? I don't want him a gaint, but I certainly want him tall. (As a counter to Thraro.) Something like 4'11" to 6'4"?
As for the cooks comment, it's one of those phrases that may not be completely true, but its a comment of affection? I'm not sure how to describe it. >.< Mostly its to say that he often gets asks to reach for stuff higher up.

=D yeah, that would be fine!
6'4" is pretty giant! 6'2" is big, but not so massively so, and big enough to cause comment in a kitchen! If you would like to put him at 6'4" though that is okay :3
