Name: Rhys

Nicknames: Kittybeam Cannon

Breed: Ragamuffin

Attached to: currently unattached

Alignment: Negaverse

Blood Type: AB

Fav. Food: Spam

Hated Food: Grapefruit - the most volatile of foods.

Hobbies:

Playing with Strangers - If Mauvians have the social equivalent to "don't talk to strangers," Rhys missed that day in class. She will approach anyone and nearly anything that crosses her line of sight, usually with a happy demeanor radiating from her fluff. This doesn't come from naivete, but from wanting to take advantage of every opportunity, either in the form of simple fun or her duties as a guardian cat. She has little fear of the unknown, seeing as, well... it's unknown. Seeking, or stalking, new strangers can take her all over Destiny City. Simple humans are interesting enough, but they may be future or existing agents, senshi, or knights, when some sort of connection outside of the battlefield could be useful. Further, Rhys is a strong believer in bringing those of the Order over to the Negaverse side -- firstly as agents or "corrupt" senshi, or, should that fail, as members of the Dark Mirror Court. Perhaps this new encounter will yield a new friend, ally, or information? You'll never know until you try.

Snatching Everything - It's hard for Rhys to pick a favorite food, because she hasn't tried everything yet! (Spam is mysterious and funky, yet tasty. It intrigues her.) Food left unattended for a moment is fair game: carrots, beef, soup, guacamole; you name it. The only caveat that decides her 'hunting grounds' are if she can escape quickly, should the need arise. This sometimes results in stomach aches (for science). If Rhys grabs something she decides she doesn't like, then it's not a big deal. After all, someone will be by with some sweet and sour chicken soon, anyway. Offering interesting food is a nice way to get into her good graces, but she wouldn't last long simply being fed as a housecat. When it comes to less edible objects, don't leave anything too important lying around, either. You'll possibly never see that again. She'll nick items she "finds" if they seem fascinating, and many of them do as the definition of "fascinating" can be anything from a toothbrush to an important document. When it turns up again, it could be just about anywhere: from the Rift to a kittynest in a trashcan, or even given away.

Classes at the Y - Rhys constantly tries to participate in recreational courses at Destiny City's YMCA and YWCA locations. She's not very successful in convincing the staff that there is nothing wrong with having a cat as a member. No one there seems to understand her needs! To name a few, she's been chased out of the pool, basket weaving, basketball, underwater basket-weaving, and off of the stair master. However, the evictions are rarely severe (or else she may have quit long ago) and she may even get a snack outside the door for her efforts. Further, there's always some youths around with whom she can spread some joy and play. Sometimes they even let her play with their baskets.

Taunting Youma - (Srsly gais, don't do this.) Rhys has little respect for youma, very much contrary to her stance on Negaverse agents, corrupt senshi, and even those of the Dark Mirror Court. She concedes that the are necessary pawns and nothing else. When she finds herself occupying the same space as one, she takes delight in taunting it and generally causing it as much grief as she thinks it can feel. (The stronger youma are harder to play with, though.) The best youma is one that has been dusted in the name of it's commander. Likewise, those who have melded with a youma are also looked down upon.

Virtues:

People Pleaser - Rhys is cooperative with those against the White Moon: the Negaverse, corrupt senshi, and the Dark Mirror Court. If she received conflicting commands from those of equal rank, it would be a close call on which one to follow and she would be distressed. She would much rather work out a deal where both groups got what they wanted. When given an assignment, she'd like nothing more than to report a success and see a face light up (or whatever equivalent show of joy that would be for more staunch characters). When enjoying some downtime, Rhys wants those around her to feel relaxed and happy. If a lap full of purring kitty doesn't do the trick then she will keep trying until she finds out something that does, even if it takes years. Years. A happy agent is an effective agent!

Gentle - This kitty does not yell or spit orders at the drop of a hat. Her soft personality and fluffy body aren't suited to doling out such harsh discipline. Rather, she's there if someone needs an ear to listen, a mind to bounce ideas off of without wanton ridicule, or a quick partner for an excursion/mission in order to train her charges. As she sees it, being severe isn't the only way to get results! Using this in the field against opposing forces, Rhys will try to influence the other party into lowering their guard, or even becoming friendly.

Team Player - We can do it together! Though it may seem initially odd, Rhys fits in well with the Negaverse's militaristic, "all for the greater good" style. Every small part is important, and she will play any if given the order. Glory-hogs, as opposed to true heroes who earn their gloating, are frowned upon and she tries to instill this idea in her senshi. One of the Order's weaknesses is their fractured, disorganized nature (and they call us chaotic) and maintaining a more unified front is a way to exploit that weakness.

Adaptive - It helps to not be too stuck in your ways when roaming about Destiny City, pinching meals, and batting at a hobo's beard on the bus. If there is something she wants, then she will exhaust several avenues before giving up. Rhys is also definitely more a cuddler than a capable fighter. Because of this, she tries to find ways to avoid hand-to-hand/paw combat. This is usually by taking advantage of the environment around her: dropping sandbags, rolling trashcans, firing a flagrant star sigil beam, kicking over a lit candles, etc.

Flaws:

Two-Faced - Rhys wants to promote a content, if not uplifting, attitude in the Negaverse. So, if the truth happens to hurt, why not just leave that part out or change it up a bit? She'll tell you exactly what you want to hear if it will gain your favor... and possibly sell you later out if someone has a higher rank, better pull, or for no reason at all for those of equal rank. It is not safe to tell her anything in confidence. All the better if it is something for which you should be disciplined. (How that General found out is simply a mystery!)

With the Crowd - The flipside to her love of the family and military dynamics is the propensity to hivemind. Rhys will blithely go along with the group, though logic may point in the opposite direction. She convinces herself that there are reasons, maybe even making up a few of her own to fill in the gaps. Is this really the best idea, or is it simply that the most people support it? Is there a difference?

Soft - Rhys doesn't do hard love. She could build someone up right to the edge of a cliff with little concern for the final outcome. Advice is given, of course, but not forced. Rather, she seeks to keep her charges in line only through positive reinforcement, cuddles, and secretly reporting them to their superiors so that said superiors can do the yelling and disciplining. She isn't much of a fighter, either, and does not 'hold her own' when stripped of her tricks.

Meddlesome - Hey guys, what's going on? Because Rhys wants to know all about it. The amount of nosiness is excessive, even for a guardian cat. From information on missions she has nothing to do with to old fashion human drama (that she still has nothing to do with), Rhys not only wants to hear about it, but she would like to do something about it! She always sees her reactions as helpful; however, they may be, objectively, the farthest thing from helpful. Those who choose to be tight-lipped will gain her ire instead.

Hey there, Aqua! Let’s see what we can do with your profile here!

I can’t seem to find much that really needs to be changed, all in all, the profile flows, and it seems like Rhys will be a very fun character to play! There is just one thing that I’m confused about, and that is your “Soft” virtue. I understand how you use it as your flaw, but the wording on the virtue is confusing to me, If you could explain what you’re trying to say, is it that she’s not a…for lack of a better word, a drill sergeant in her training and fighting? Or is it that she’s more friendly rather than rough.

Maybe if you changed the title of the virtue to something like gentle or understanding or something akin to that, it would read better, but right now there is a disconnect with me, between the word soft, and the description that you have!

Please Quote me with your change, and I can get you your trial stamp

Thank you very much for the crit, Orangeish! I made changes to the virtue "Soft," as you suggested, including changing to to "Gentle," which was a great idea! I hope to have made it clearer how it's a positive reflection on her as a quasi-leader figure. c:

Below are some changes I'd like to implement after continuing to think about Rhys' character:

Quote:
I'll Just Borrow This - Don't leave anything too important lying around, especially your lunch. You'll never see that again (or maybe you will, but it will have several kitty-sized bites taken from it). She'll nick items she "finds" if they seem interesting, and many of them do as the definition of "interesting" can be anything from a toothbrush to an important document. When it turns up again, it could be just about anywhere: from the Rift to a kittynest in a trashcan, or even given away.

The general idea from I'll Just Borrow This (taking items and hiding them or giving them away) would be moved to her "snatching" hobby, which will be thus expanded from food to include items. In play, this would mean that it would be a more secretive/sneaky act, whereas flaws are out on display all the time.

I didn't want to outright add this to the profile since it wasn't addressed by Orangish and I didn't want to accidentally "break" Rhys. If these changes sound workable, I will put them into the profile for formal review!

The character itself looks good! I'm pretty much ready to stamp it but I wanted to make some clarifications and make sure you knew/understood possible consequences before I stamped you just in case you wanted to make any changes.

@ Attacking youma and possibly not putting the negaverse first (people pleasing) - It is entirely OKAY for her to do these two things if you'd like her to. I just wanted to note that she may very well get ICly in trouble or punished for her actions. Those two things aren't going to be looked upon in a good fashion, so if she's too brazen about either or just pisses off the wrong General she could find herself in some hot water.

If you'd like that for plots and character development and all that then that's great. I just wanted to make sure you knew that there was the potential for it and it's not going to be okay if she basically does all these traitorous acts were people catch her but you (as the player and chooser of her fate) refuse to allow realistic consequences.

@ Social - Perfectly fine and great, cats are super sociable. Just make sure she isn't actually talking to any humans unless there is dire need (aka one gets caught up in a battle or something). As a for instance, when I wanted Dahlia to have a one time conversation with a civilian child I actually got permission from the mule first giving a reasoning why, etc etc.

Hi Iris, thank you for looking at my quest!

I hope Rhys can help promote cooperation between the Negaverse and the DMC (perhaps it's the pull of all those magical skirts!), but I accept any negative consequences she might incur by taking commands/advice from (or blabbing to) a DMC. If she's reprimanded, it could make for some interesting character development, too, as you mentioned. There are characters who have trouble from not playing nice with their allies, so it might even be interesting for the other party to have to discipline from the other angle!

And just to clarify @ youma: she definitely taunts them, but Rhys will not be attacking. She realizes that they are sadly necessary and wouldn't want to hurt them and cause trouble for the agent.

Nono, there will not be any talking to humans without permission, haha! x3 It will be limited to normal kitty-to-human interaction otherwise. Thank you for pointing this out specifically, though -- I'm sure it would have been something I had to pm the mule over.
