Jaiden had escaped from her dormmate and all others around her at Kaiden's request, headed out towards the maze they had seen on the grounds before now. Kaiden needed herbs, and Jaiden was interested in exploring, so it seemed a natural choice for where to go after Kaiden started getting nervous.
She settled against one of the walls eventually, having ran until she got herself lost in it, wanting the challenge of finding her way out.

Phyl wanders through the maze, paying no attention to the area around her as she buries her nose into her book. She wasn't worried about getting lost; with Cupid on her shoulder, she could easily navigate out of the maze. She looks up, noticing Jaiden for the first time. She stares at the other girl, her natural expression making it seem as if she was glaring at Jaiden.

It took Jaiden a mental alert for Kaiden to notice the person glaring at them from behind a book, and xe shook her head, rubbing xer forehead as she pushed off the 'wall' to look at Phyll. Nothing too amazing about her, though she looked like she took a tumble or two, and broke like a doll.
As usual however, Jaiden simply offered xer business smile, not at all concerned with how the girl was glaring at her. Waving, xer business tone came on nearly instantly, "Well, hello there." Xe gave an elaborate bow, "I had not expected to find someone else within this maze. I'm Jaiden."

Phyl shrugs, closing her book and looking towards Jaiden. She instantly caught the business tone, narrowing her eyes "Whatever Tick you are selling Tock keep it to yourself."

Jaiden chuckled into xer hand, pointing at Phyl before beginning to speak, "Perceptive, though you're in luck because I've left all merchandise back in my dorm, instead of bringing it with me on this trip. Indeed, all I've left is my time, and that's almost certainly free." The older kid was certainly good with how she spoke, or at least thought she was.
"Tell me though, what brings you and your... friend to this wonderful little maze?"

"We Tick thought it would be nice to go to the center of the maze and read for a bit; or at least I did. Cupid just wanted to tag along." She pets the pigeon, smiling gently as her expression softens.

Jaiden nodded, look at the bird with a small smile, "Cupid, eh? Cute little name for a cute little birdie, eh? I guess having a companion for reading is nice." She shrugs, looking around, "I'm not much for reading myself, but I know people who are, and she likes talking to me about what she's reading, even if I don't care."
She chuckled at her own joke, Kaiden's reply being to stomp the foot of Jaiden's shadow, though it made no noise.

Phyl raises her eyebrow "I...see? That's Tick a shame, It seems as if Tock there is no one interesting to tock to then." She sighs, shrugging slightly and patting Cupid's head "Some Tick day, I shall find a well read person. Someday."

Jaiden rolled her eyes, did everyone in this academy only have a single interest or something? It certainly seemed so. "I truly doubt you will lack well read people somewhere like this, indeed I believe they likely are very common from what I have seen. It seems rather common for those who are well read to only be well read however, as if they have no other hobbies. Is this the truth for you, my dear?"
Kaiden would roll her eyes were the shadow possessing of any, instead she simply whispered to Jaiden, "You're going to offend her you know. Just because she looks like a mean person doesn't mean you should make fun of her for just reading..."

Phyl smiles, still looking quite intimidating "actually, I have Tick plenty of hobbies, such as Tock smithing, sewing, carpentry,and Tock collecting postage stamps. I also Tick cook." Cupid looks as horrified as birds can when she mentions this, squawking.

Jaiden yawns into a hand after Phyl seemed to have finished, waiting a few moments before speaking, "Sewing and cooking is it? How lovely, those are both skills I've become interested in and possess a minor amount of skill in. I'm none too amazing, but I am quite proud of how quickly I have picked them up. And I also collect, though instead of something such as stamps, I am a collector of jewelry and gems. I actually sewed all of this outfit, aside from the vest, inorder to be able to incorporate some of my jewelry more fully."

phyl taps her chin "so sorry; am Tick I boring you? I suppose I should take my leave Tick then. Have a good day." She starts to walk deeper into the maze, paying Jaiden no more thought.
