Esme loved seeing local plays, including the ones from Crystal Academy. They were yet another medium from which her overactive imagination could grab different pairings that she could write fan fiction about. Every chance that she could, she'd catch another show after school or during the weekend. Sadly her job as a dark mirror senshi prevented her from catching the shows on weeknights now, just like it prevented her from doing a lot of other things, but... weekends still gave her some time to catch up on all of her crazy hobbies. It was during one of these weekends that she spotted her. Her: the beautiful young and incredibly OMG talented Fleur Willis. The goddess of the Crystal Academy stage Fleur Willis. The actress whose characters captured Esme's heart so purely and wonderfully that they were just so easy to write fanfiction about. Yes, that Fleur Willis. What else could a wayward fan do to a passing Fleur Willis but immediately go up to her and ASK FOR HER AUTOGRAPH? Nothing. Nothing, because it was FLEUR WILLIS EEEEEEE. Esme made a bee-line for the girl. "Heeeeey! Are you her? Are you really her?!"

Fleur was tired. Plays were her life, but after one she was always a bit low on energy. And this time, she was also in a hurry. She had waved her friends ahead as she had struggled to take out her intricately braided fairy-queen hair. (It had been a fun, lighthearted play by a fellow student.) The battle with her hair over, she was rushing to the cast party, which was probably already in full swing. Then, she was ambushed, and not, annoyingly, by something she could whip out her henshin pen and massacre either.
It was a girl. Not just any girl, either, but one demanding with way too much energy... Something. Fleur smiled, trying to buy herself some time to think up a response. She wasn't famous enough to get this type of attention, but she didn't really want to break the news that she wasn't the celebrity that this girl obviously thought she was.
"Umm... my name's Fleur Willis." Keeping the smile, she looked directly into the girl's bight eyes. "And you?" It sounded weird, but it was better than 'By the way, do I know you?'

Esme beamed. "Yeeeeees! I knew it! There was no way I could mistake you for anyone else oh my gosh." The girl took a breath. "My name is Esme Blanchard, and I'm one of your biggest fans! I just got out of the latest one," she exclaimed. "Your plays are all so amazing! I love all of the characters that you do, and you get into them so very well." Gush, gush, gush. Esme could not stop gushing. Never in a billion years had she expected to be so lucky that she found herself in the presence of such an awesome actor. World famous actor or just local, it made no difference. "I'd ask for your autograph but I don't have any paper." Oh no! Ugh, what horrible luck. So lame.

As Esme babbled, Fleur's false smile softened, becoming natural. Then a bit too natural. She was fighting laughter, which would have been so rude, because Esme was so serious and so exited. A giggle broke out. Oops. Fleur faked a cough, trying to cover it up. "You're so sweet," said Fleur in a fairly steady voice. "Of course you can have my autograph! I have some sticky notes." It was, after all great to have someone randomly come up and tell you you're a great actress and stuff. Plus, Fleur had a number one fan! Who would have guessed? The least she could do was give this girl something to remember her by. From her bag, she got what she needed and scribbled a quick note. Dear Esme, You're a great fan! Thanks for your support! Fleur Willis ♥ She handed it to her. It was going to be so much fun to tell her friends about this later!

Esme beamed as Fleur, the greatest actress in the history of Destiny City at the moment, handed over her autograph. Stickie note or not, this would be a treasured heirloom that only Esme would understand. It was going to stick right on her monitor, ayup yup. It would be so much telling her friends about this later! .. except they probably wouldn't care but WHO CARES. "Ahahahaha, thanks! This means so much to me!" Her eyes sparkled as she read over the note again. "So, what are you doing right now? Can I take you out for some muffins? My treat!" That would be so amazing, taking out a famous actress and treating her to something! Yeah!

Oh no. Oh no. Oh no. Please, please, please no. Fleur loved muffins as much as the next person, but her patience was starting to run out. Plus, she was in a hurry! But, she didn't let the sweet smile leave her face. "Oh, I'd love to!" This happened to be a complete and utter lie, but Fleur was willing to take semi-extreme measures to avoid breaking her only fan's heart. As long as it didn't involve actually having to eat said muffins. She let the smile fall from her face, finally. "But... I can't." She shrugged, trying her best to look disappointing, though really she just wanted to leave. "I'm on my way to dinner with my friends. I'm actually running a little late..." Fleur decided this would be a great time to not use the words 'cast party' Weighing the costs and benefits, she decided to give Esme another chance. She slipped the awful smile back on her face. "Do you want to walk there with me?" She was so glad she wasn't actually famous.

"Ahahaha, sure. I'd love to walk with you to your cast party." Fleur certainly hadn't said 'cast party', but the other girl's curse was that she was horribly observant. And what did actors do after successful plays. Why, they went to horribly extravagant cast parties of course! Not that... Esme had actually ever been to one herself. It would be kind of neat to go and see what they were all about. "I'v never been to one before, actually! What are they like?"

Fleur was about to pull her hair out. She wanted to say, It's not a cast party. What could possibly make you think that? Did you hear me say 'cast party?' I didn't think so, But, it seemed Esme wasn't totally stupid, just obsessive. She walked a few seconds in really annoyed silence, then turned to the other girl. "You... can't come to the party unless you're in the play. It's just all the drama people hanging out, basically. We talk about the play a little, maybe..." There. She was dropping hints about not coming, but she didn't actually want to command the girl to go away. That would be so mean!

"Ah." Esme stopped in her tracks, studying the totally famous -- well, ok, not totally famous. Just local actress. A pretty good actress. She really, realllllyyyy doesn't want you to be around her. Why not just give up. No, no, no.. She wasn't mean at all. Just... "Well, I hope you have fun and, ah, break a leg in your next performance. Maybe next time we meet, you can give me some pointers on how to act, or something. Ahahaha." She was just a really good actress. "I'll... be seein' you, I guess." Esme lifted up a hand, the hand holding up the autographed stickie note. All too inconviently, and perhaps a little comically, the wind decided it was time to snatch the note from her fingers. The girl squeaked as she snatched it from the invisible thief. It'd be a tragedy to lose that note, no matter what.

She was getting the hints. But as the other girl said her parting words, Fleur wasn't thinking, Bye, Annoying Person! Finally I can go to my friends after all. Instead, she was thinking, No, please, anything but this! Maybe it was the sad tone of Esme's voice as she tried to be cheerful, or maybe it was the way she valiantly fought the wind just for Fleur's words. She felt worse now than she had before. Whirling around, Fleur searched for something, anything to say to salvage the situation. "Esme?" Maybe she was a great actress, but life was all improv. She said the first thing that came to mind. "You can be my friend." How old were they, eight? But by now, she was getting a handle on things. " My friend or my fan. Just not both."

"Eh?" She stopped her futile attempt at keeping the errant post-it note as she stared at Fleur. Another breeze, and the autograph escaped into the street, trampled on by incoming traffic. The cotton candy haired girl looked over her shoulder, then back again to the actress. No one could have written a better, more ironic scene. And in real life too! "Ahahaha, I'd love to be your friend, Fleur." Esme smiled.

"Oh!" she cried as the paper finally got away. "Sorry. I can write you another... or..." Or not. It took her a few seconds to realize that Esme wasn't angry. At least she didn't look upset. And according to her words, well, ok, maybe they were going back to third grade. It was better, though. At least Fleur knew kind of what she was doing now. No more being an awkward celebrity, just a nice person. And the autograph was gone too. Now there was nothing between them. “Ok then- let’s start over. You’re Esme, I’m Fleur.” She offered the girl yet another sweet smile before she turned and started walking briskly. Now she was really late, but starting to have a bit of fun. And anyway, the house the party was at was nearby. “Well, you already know about me, obviously. The acting, at least. Let's not repeat all of that stuff. So, uh, what about you?” Her voice was genuinely curious this time. "What do you like to do? I mean, besides watching plays and eating muffins?" Fleur's smile turned genuine at this, but it really was all she knew about the other girl.

Esme trotted after her. Third grade though it may be, this felt so much more right! Being a fan was one thing, but being a friend? Soooo much better. Infinitely better. Plus one. "Ehe,... hmmm. About me." Esme never was used to talking about herself. Sadly, she couldn't reveal her super awesome secret that she was a senshi of romance and that, for the most part, it was pretty awesome. For the most part. "I'm a junior at Meadowview. I just turned seventeen in October. Ah, I like to collect dolls. I'm in the art club - it's pretty fun even though I'm still learning how to draw. Ahaha. And I write a ton. I guess I'm a bit of an internet sensation with all of my 'fics!" Her eyes lit up further just MENTIONING that. "Ahahaha, so I'm told anyway." Esme was far too humble to let any fame get to her. Though it was nice that people read them. Hehe.

Fleur's eyes widened. "You like to... write?" She never would have guessed this girl liked to stay still and do anything. Of course, fanfics wern't exactly the most sophisticated form of writing, but it was better than what Fleur could do. "That's great. I can't. I like reading, but all the characters and events seem so flat when I'm writing. When I'm acting it's so much easier and sometimes it feels like it's really happening. It's really great..." Fleur snapped her mouth shut. Like always, she had just ended up talking more about herself. Then she realized something. "Hey! You're famous too! Probably more than me. You should let me read your stuff." She smiled at Esme. "I'm glad I'm not really famous though. I like having privacy and stuff. Though... I have been taking some stuff on with the city recently, not just school." Again, she couldn't stop talking about herself! She forced herself to be quiet, then a few seconds later added an afterthought. "Just... don't ship me with anyone, ok?"

"Ahahaha, don't worry! I just ship your characters." For now. "But I promise I won't touch you." And she'd keep her word. Promises were pretty important to keep! "And yeah, I'll let you read them if you want! Do you have a favorite pairing?" Esme played with her hands behind her back. "I think I like writing just as much as you enjoy acting. It sounds just the same. When you get into the character, you can feel the character. The scenes you write, or the scenes you act in; if you really enjoy doing it then it's just a great feeling." The girl grinned. "I guess that's why I really like your acting and became a fan, cuz you really get into it from what I see. And that can only happen when you really love what you do."
