There was a fatherly--ok, not really, he was a lousy father most of the time, just ask Roch, but the grim reaper known as Austin Texas Scythe sat on the school gate, a scowl growing darker on his face by the moment. He hadn't seen Roch in days--and usually he at least got a reply for one of his stupid texts, but nothing had happened--
And he had a problem. A serious, serious problem--wait, there! The reaper hopped off of the fence and appeared next to a familiar figure. "Hello, Xiu, nice weather we're having, don't you think?" he asked as he took a drag off of his cighoulette. He didn't look as calm as he usually seemed. "You seen my kid?"

Of all the people Xiu had been expecting to see today, Austin had not been one of them. She perked up in surprise when she suddenly felt someone move up beside her, tilting her head back so that she could stare up at the older reaper with wide eyes. "Oh--hello, sir. It's been a while since we've last spoken." She offered him a pleasant smile, only to frown and furrow his brows as the question. Slowly, she shook her head.
"No, I haven't seen Roch in a while. Did you want me to call him?" Was he missing? Though she was certain that Austin would have already thought to call Roch himself in that case (if the younger reaper wasn't trying to ignore his father, at least).

"Huh... You can try, but I'm thinking he won't answer--or like with the old man, he'll hang up after a quick reply..." Austin scowled. "That kid, I swear... but the funny thing is, his bike is still here..." Where the hell had his boil gone? He shook it off, going on to other things for the moment. "You seen Sunshine? I mean Amphi," he corrected himself. "She might be able to do something... actually," he said, looking at her, "you might help, now that I think about it," he said. "If you would."

Xiu couldn't help but laugh, her lips curling in a wry smile. Yes, well...that sounded like Roch. She had no idea what the boil could be doing right now, but it was doubtful that she would be able to get much out of him even if she did call right now.
At the mention of Amphi, the baku shook her head, but automatically began to reach for her eyephone should she need to contact her friend. Her expression became quizzical as the older reaper suddenly turned his attention onto her, tail squishing behind her as she stared back up at him.
"If I can be of assistance, I wouldn't mind helping."

Austin hesitated, looking around, then reached down and touched the small of her back. "This way, darklin," he said quietly, leading her to a quiet spot between buildings. "I haven't told Roch, so I can't tell you everything," he said. "But I need you... and some others, I figure, to keep an eye on someone for me. Make sure she doesn't get herself in trouble. Can you do that?" This was the father of ROCH, and apparently he didn't want someone getting in trouble. There was probably a story there.

The baku lifted her brows, curious why Austin seemed to be so secretive about this, but she trusted him enough to obediently let him lead her off to somewhere a little more quiet.
The baku cocked her head to the side as he explained his predicament, tail swishing back and forth behind her. Keep an eye on someone, he said? "May I ask who it is you'd like me to watch over?" Xiu asked politely, lips tugging downwards in a slight frown. "Though yes, if that's all, I don't mind lending you a hand."

He hesitated. There was a hint of guilt in his eyes as he thought of the problem, either he told her about Vegas's lack of sense, or he lied and told her about his own... How much could he get away with NOT telling her, he thought. Idly he reached into his trench coat pocket, pulling out his eyephone--a darker, more sinister looking affair than Roch's--and brought up a picture of Terra. "This is Terra," he said, showing her the picture. "Think she's about fourteen, maybe younger, not sure. Pretty little thing, don't you think?" he added as he glanced at the picture again. "She's going to grow up to be a handful..." which he didn't sound very thrilled about.

The ghoul lifted her brows at Austin's obvious hesitation, but said nothing, patiently waiting for him to tell her what she needed to do. When he pulled out his eyephone, she leaned forward curiously to peer at his screen, ears perking up slightly as he pulled up a picture of a pretty young ghoul.
"She's very pretty," Xiu agreed, the corners of her lips quirking upwards in a small smile. She tilted her head slightly as she turned her gaze back up to the reaper. "And she's the one you'd like me to watch over? I'm assuming she's been enrolled in Amity, then...?"
It was a slightly unusual request, she found, but not one that she found any reason to reject.

"Yeah, she has," Austin said. "Which means she'll be in the reaper dorms. Other than that, I can't really tell you exactly how to find her. Well, other than look for the red poncho with black roses on it," he drawled, still amused at that one. Then again, Vegas was the one that wound up paying for it, so of course he was entertained. "When Roch comes, he'll take over," Austin added. "Soon as we figure out how to tell him, that is." But before she could ask more, he went, "Thank you, Xiu, it shouldn't be for long." And was gone, leaving her to try and find the reaper ghoul.

Hmm, reaper dorms. Considering that she had dropped by those dorms a number of times to visit her friends and her "big brother", the baku had confidence in her ability to navigate the building. Finding Terra, therefore, would (hopefully) not be too difficult.
Nodding, she opened her mouth to tell him that he was welcome and not to worry about it when he just...left. Blinking blankly, the baku lifted a hand to her face and sighed. Well...okay, that was fine. Her priority right now would just be to the find this Terra ghoul then, and...
...Then...what...? Austin hadn't told her anything aside from the fact that she was supposed to watch over her, which was a little vague. Shaking her head, the baku pushed aside these thoughts as she began to head over to the reaper dorms. She could figure that out later.
It didn't take long until she was at the dorm's steps. When a quick glance around revealed that there was no one around, Xiu slipped up the stairs and into the building.

Music-- strangely sharp and reminiscent of a familiar reaper male was coming from the Reaper common room. It wasn't the same tone, or even the same feel, but it was electric. There, once Xiu had gotten to the room, stood the slender female from the picture, playing her violin. She had her back to the door, so she didn't see the Baku. There was a strange pedal attached to the violin by a cord--which she stepped on once in a while, causing the sounds to start repeating.

Was that...? The baku's ears perked up slightly at the music, and she automatically moved towards the open doorway, peering in curiously. That was her, wasn't it? Although she wasn't facing her, she recognized her long blond hair and her clothing.
Not wanting to disturb her while she was playing, the baku shuffled back, leaning against the hallway wall as she patiently waited for the reaper ghoul to finish. It wasn't hard to wait--time passed quickly as she listened to the ghoul's playing, marveling at the music. She was quite talented, wasn't she? It was only when the final notes of the song began to trail off did she quietly clear her throat.
"I'm sorry--I was passing by when I heard your playing. It was very lovely!"

Terra jerked, her neck turning red as she was caught. She turned, expecting another reaper--she hadn't met many, outside of her "family" in fact, the one she could think of was Hel-- "Lo Siento, if I was loud enough that you were hearing me outside of the dormitorio, I was playing far too loudly," the reaper ghoul said, looking guilty. "I was expecting my fellow dormmates to tell me--it is far easier to complain when I am here and not in my room, no?"

The baku was quick to hold up her hands, shaking her head. "Oh, no! I didn't hear the music until I came in here--I was on my way to look for someone when I heard your playing." That wasn't a lie by any means. Now that the ghoul had turned to face her, it only confirmed the fact that she was the one Austin had asked her to find.
"Besides, I don't think anyone would complain about your playing," Xiu added, the corners of her lips quirking upwards in a wry smile, "It's not as if you're making a racket. You play beautifully." Getting to hear the reaper ghoul play had definitely been an added bonus to being asked to find her.
Taking a few steps forward, she dropped down in a little bow, her tail swishing back and forth. "I'm Xiu, by the by! I'm a third year and I live down in the demon dorms."

"Thank you for the flattery, senorita," Terra said with an easy smile. "I have much to learn, still. I am Terra. It is very nice to meet you." She looked around, then decided something. "It is lunch time--would you care to join me? I do not have much at the moment, I have yet to find a proper market here," she said. "But I am a fair hand at cooking! Perhaps in exchange for cooking you might... tell me about this escuela? And where I can find a local marketplace?"
