Iah had been playing a game of hide and seek with some cubs. Problem number 1. Turns out cubs were way better at hiding than he expected. Here he was... off guard duty and doing a terrible job at finding even the smallest cub who was no doubt; hiding in a horribly obvious place. So now he was stalking around and looking sternly in all the wrong places...
Onalim had been watching Iah stalking around and looking all miserable while those cubs simply chased circles around him; giggling behind bushes and making fun of him. She had scolded them at first... until she realized it was pretty fun to watch the poor fellow trying his best to not get overly upset about all this or the idea that a guard was actually having problems finding something. She had sat back and watched for a while and finally gave up and stood, walking over too him.
"Trouble Iah?" She asked.
He looked at Onalim; who had suddenly decided to interrupt him and snorted. "No..." Though it was an obvious lie.

Onalim rolled her eyes at him. "Liar... you are lying right out of your pointed tooth mouth..." She said, pointing at him with a yellow paw. She could see past his expression, despite anything he may try. "Don't be a sour puss Iah... what's the matter." She sat down and crossed her eyes in a silly manner before returning to a normal state of face. Goodness it wasn't like a lady to act like that.
He rolled his eyes at her and looked away, his pale eyes blinking at anything but the brightly colored lioness whom he recalled was Mawu's daughter, half sister to the new shaman. He shrugged. "I am actually playing a game with a few cubs while their mother is resting thank you... but i have lost them..." He said finally, looking irritated all over again... He glared down at his white toed paws. "A fine guard I am... can't even find some children in a game of hide and seek. Like a fool I am...
He sighed and sat down.
Onalim shook her head quickly. "Oh Iah. You aren't a fool...

He made a noise in his throat that showed how irritated he was at her coddling. He was no cub or elderly lion that needed to be treated like a babe or a weakling. He cast a glance in her direction. "I am just feeling really upset in reality... not sure why. I think I am just a nervous wreck sometimes... or that i am lonely..." He cast a glance out into the distance for a moment.
"Lonely? You mean a mate Iah?" She blurted out without much concern for her boldness. She hadn't really be raised to be a meek modest lady. "I don't have one either... nor does my sister Stellaluna." She tried to look comforting. "It isn't about being with someone more than it is about being happy... you will find someone someday Iah... I guarantee it."
"My mother was in love with my father once... and he broke her heart. And now look at her. She is happy... sometimes you have to wait for that to happen too..."
"But what if I don't want it to happen like that... to have my heart broken

He couldn't stand how open she was about stuff. He rolled his eyes at the lady, his expression not really that of taking in the teasing she was giving him. He kept his gray eyes averted from her for a moment. She thought it was so easy? He hadn't found a single female who was willing to be with him and be happy with him; forever. He stopped for a moment and gazed at Onalim for a moment.
She was single wasn't she? There was no reason to be... she was a lovely lioness with the wings of a swan across her back and eyes like shining leaves in spring. He rather liked her bright yellow coloration as well... he paused for a moment... "Why are you single?" He asked.
Onalim wasn't really expecting such a question from him. She looked a bit offended, as it was a tender subject. She hadn't had any luck finding a mate herself; though she tried her best to lead others on like she had many suitors. She wrinkled her forhead and turned away from him, mumbling; before turning back. "... well for your information no one wants to be with me... okay..." She said, a tone of hurt on her voice. It wasn't fair of him to ask such a thing of him.
She sat and looked rather hurt.

He felt a bit flustered at seeing her hurt expression. He opened his mouth to apologize... but found his breath was lacking and tried to think of what to say. She looked hurt and that made him feel; so horrible. He stood up and reached a paw out to touch her, but drew it away slowly. He had hurt her... all because he had been upset about his own situation... and here this beautiful lioness was, wanting so much out of life and wanting to have a mate too; but having none.
"I'm sorry Onalim..." He said simply, before hurrying away from the white and yellow female. He had no idea how to even start to make her feel better...
Onalim was so deeply hurt by his reaction. He was sitting there and acting like a child about all this; wanting to be with someone and blah blah... and this whole time she was just craving someone of her own. She was glad when he stood and left; though his words soothed her anger... She felt a bit sad about it...
She watched him go; and felt a pang of some emotion in her chest and tried to open her mouth to speak but... had nothing. So she simply sat down and lowered her head and sat in thought and sadness...
