This topic has probably come up more than once, and there has been lots of discussions about it, but (I don't know how to say this without rubbing salt in the wound) I was surfing around gaia, and I read this post someone typed. It said his time of realization (his sexual orientation), his time of coming out, and his time of being kicked out. He was 16 when it happened.

I've heard of teens being kicked out by ignorant parents, but this time, I really felt phased by it. How could you just kick out your child, at that age and time when he/she really needs someone. I mean, where would they go? What could they do, alone without guidance. Would you report to the authorities, or *can't find a way to end statement*.

(Again, rubbing salt in the wound) For those people that have been kicked out of thier homes, what did you do, or feel? I guess I just kinda need a grasp of reality with this topic.

Well, if you do get kicked out you could always go to a LGBT center where you can go to for help. It was all in this book I just read, "Keeping you a Secret" (really good, you should read it).

But I havent been kicked out. My parents don't know. It's gonna be like that until I'm in college.

I was kicked out of my mom's place when I was sixteen. It didn't phase me because I had only known her for three years. She didn't like me anyways. I was her unwanted accident hehe sweatdrop

Personally, at that point in time, I thought all parents were like mine, so I didn't think much of it. When I was out on the streets, everybody had parents like mine, so.. yeah. Thought it was normal.

*shrug* It's only been within the last year when I actually started to realize that it wasn't, but it's too late now to really feel anything about it. *shrug*

Someone I know got kicked out of their house when they were 16 too. Actually, he's still 16. He has to work a lot more often now, but I think he'll be ok. He has an apartment he rents. The thing is he isn't gay, he's straight. His dad just hates him. It's not just homosexuals that get victimized here, it's anyone with scumbags for parents. And yes, it does suck.

Wow, parents really suck, huh?

I'm not generalizing, but shouldn't it be illegal to kick your kid out if he's done nothing wrong?

It is... It's the same as neglecting your children.

There was a guy 3 grades below me at school. His parents kicked him out/he left his house at 13/14 (Not sure why, I think it was to do with some type of abuse) and he was living with a friend at school.

The family were nice enough to take him in, but he began to worry about paying school fees and the such. His only job was at McDonalds and they don't pay overly well rolleyes

So anyway, I was talking to him at McDonalds one day (He was about to start work) and he was telling me that he was concerned about having to go to a public school (and therefore leave his friends - his only support network) due to school fee payments. So I sat him down and talked to him about the senior school and how you can devise a payment plan with them and that they have a sense of leniency. To my knowledge, he is completing his senior year there as we speak.

I guess I just wanted to share a success story. You know, had to leave house for whatever reason and made a swift, stable turn around. He was lucky though, people around him wanted to help him. Can't say the same for everyone else though.

I think it's really disgusting if someone can actually do that.
I want to become a mother more than anything (seriously... sweatdrop ) and I can't think of ANY reason to kick them out of the house. (well, murder, perhaps, but... No, I don't want to think about that).

They're your own flesh and blood, you gave birth, you brought them up, and when they turn out to be gay they don't change, do they? They've been that like forever. ><;

I don't think my parents would kick me out for being gay, but I'm bi I happen to know that that really bothers my mother (I'm not out to them, but we've had discussions). She's already told me that I'm her only hope for intelligent grandchildren lmao xd

It's not always the parents that are assholes when kids get kicked out. We kicked my older brother out of the house when he was 16, but he was on drugs, dropped out of school, was stealing from us, and was starting fist fights with my mother. My grandma took him in since she was the only one who could remotely control him and he's still been in and out of jail for a while. But getting kicked out just because you're gay-that's retarded.

oh know! it's unbelievable but i know people would do it. i just cant even think about it though. i mean to be ashamed or something of someone you loved until you found out what they truly were is just ridiculous like they said they dont really change! you just find out the kind of people they love. i hate itso much v.v
