Mirac frowned as he traced a finger down the page of the book he was studying. "This... doesn't seem right, how can the ritual work without this glyph?" The boil sighed in annoyance as he scribbled his notes down in the notebook. The last thing he needed was to fail this test.

He plucked a squirming mass from his lunch plate and popped it into his mouth, chewing thoughtfully as he leafed through the rest of the chapter. Sensing someone sitting down across from him, the boil looked up in annoyance, having chose this table exactly for the reason of being alone to work. His scowl evaporated into a half-smile upon seeing the ghoul sitting opposite.

"Amy, a pleasure as always." He waved to the books scattered in a half circle around him. "Studying, like usual. Test coming up next week, so looking to see what I need to know for it. Rituals is a pain in my bony a**. What about you? How're you doing?"

"The ink jar class? I'd heard about that, but haven't decided if I'm going to go or not." He stretched his arms and locked his hands together, smiling as the bones popped and cracked. Nodding towards his books, he traced one of the open pages. "Well, if I'm reading this right, this ritual is used for amplifying fear in the mortals, but this sigil right here," he tapped what looked like a squiggly line, "isn't used for amp, it's used for reduction. So unless I'm missing something, this whole mathematical ritual equation makes no sense."

He flicked his eyes towards the ghoul's sketchbook and arched an eyebrow. Closing the book slowly, he leaned forward, chains giving a gentle rattle. "You're doodling pictures of me again, which usually means you have something to ask me, but don't want to disturb my study vibe." He smiled in amusement.

"Yeah, you would drag me to something like that," he said with a dry sarcasm. He'd learned early on in their friendship that it was often better to just go along with what the crazy ghoul wanted than to try and fight it. Though he much preferred staying in and studying, he had to admit that hanging out with Amy was definitely interesting... and usually fun, but always interesting.

Mirac winced before leaning back, sending the chains rattling again. "Uh, yeah..." He sighed wearily, one skeletal hand rubbing his face. "I meant to tell you about that. There was an... incident, back home." He closed the book and propped his elbows on the edge of the table, resting his head on his hands. "Some family from dad's side that we try not to have anything to do with showed up suddenly with virtually all their possessions in a Ghoul-Haul, thinking they can just live with us until they find a new place. Needless to say, our house has quickly degenerated into a bloody warzone."

Mirac chuckled. "That's Chrys for you, Aimster," he said, using his nickname for her. "He's so scatter-brained at times, I swear that ghosts have planted a 'vacancy' sign in his head."

"Ugh, 'interesting' doesn't even begin to describe them. Dad's side of the family are just Jack-damned trashy. They're an embarrassment to all Halloween-kind." He shook his head, brushing a lock of hair from his eye. "The fact Dad's as 'normal' as he is is a miracle, considering how he was raise."

Mirac scowled as the noise level in the cafeteria increased. "Ugh, it's getting too loud in here. Let's head outside, it's a delightfully gloomy day out today." Standing up, Mirac sweeped his books into his back pack with a practiced motion. "So, uh... how did the band battle go, anyways?"

"Loud enough," Mirac chuckled as he dumped his trash into the bin and set his tray aside. "And yeah, I'd definitely like to try again. And if the family tries to interfere, I'll beat them with their own self-importance. Maybe they'll learn something."

The revenant pushed the cafeteria door open and held it for Amy. "Actually, I'm pretty much done for the day, other than the usual homework." He tilted his head, as if pondering her question. "Mmm, well, I don't see why not. Do you have anything in particular in mind?"

Mirac smiled as they walked across the campus. "And how is Tiger doing, anyways? That reminds me, I really need to look into getting a pet myself, it gets boring at times studying in an empty dorm room. You're usually busy with your own classes, or with sports." He elbowed her lightly in the ribs with a teasing smile before shifting his books around.

The revenant paused at Amy's question, thinking it over for a few seconds before stepping quickly to catch up with the ghoul. "Well, classes take up most my time, and homework the rest. I don't really have time for, uh, sports." He tugged nervously at the collar of his shirt. "And really, I'm not, ah, really built for sports, y'know?"

The slightly worried look at the thought of playing sports evaporated at her last words, and he chuckled in amusement. "Why does it not surprise me you've smacked people while playing?" He gave her a teasing smile. "I don't know, I could maybe try catching or something." Mirac held his hand up, smiling as his chains wrapped around it. "Though I should probably find out if these would be illegal to use."
