Bitter Heartbeat stood firm. Behind him nestled in the curled form of sleep, Wolf Parade slumbered heavily. Near her a turtle wobbled unevenly on his back -- apparently righting himself was of little importance -- and once in awhile the doe's chin came to rest on the reptile's softer undershell. The buck hoped his turtle was providing some comfort as there was little he himself could do.

That was not entirely true. He knew the stories of Legendaries and while the idea formed to seek one out, he could not help the fear that something would happen should he leave. Perhaps a Legendary would find him instead as he stood watch.

Be careful what you wish for.

Lull in Sunlight was cloaked in shadows as she moved through the swamp. She had every intention today of avoiding any kin who wanted a blessing. The count had long been lost as to how many she had given but it felt like it was all she ever did and she did not care if every kin in the swamp converged on her for one. In fact, the Motherfather itself might not be able to get a blessing from her today. She was that determined to glower and ignore such requests. Unless they brought her a pretty trinket. She deserved something for the service she provided. Goodness but she was in a mood.

Of course it would be then that she found the two kimeti -- you have got to be kidding me -- and it didn't take a Legendary to know they were expecting. She huffed and had every intention of moving onward. Until her ears twitched, some other kin was coming.

She found her way like always. Doom was brought short by an old acquaintance. Seems like they were both sporting new styles. Lull was inky black with sulky satisfaction and ominous orbs while Doom dragged her hair through havoc wrought destruction, her specialty. But Lull served as the framing device for the couple behind the other Mare. It was an expecting couple, how sweet. Quick to dismiss them, Doom caught the telltale sign of the florals favored by Look-See, Gloom and herself. A tickling of memorydeclared the pregnant doe as one of Look-See's line. It was all but decided.

"Lull," Doom used the Mare's name as an introduction. "I'm going to bless them. You might want to leave now."User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Oh, the mare thought as Doom approached. With a slow shake, she let herself become solid and regarded her acquaintance. The hair longer, the body elongated and slender, the red glowing eyes. How interesting that they were both mares now. Briefly the idea of another hunt began to form and then shattered.

The introduction, the nod of her head, that she was going to give was cut off at the other Legendary's abrupt words. And where she should have felt relief and left, she was suddenly offended. "And what makes you think, you should be the one to bless them? I found them first," she offered as a rebuttal.

Bitter Heartbeat who had wished for a Legendary was taken aback by there now being two before him. Two that knew each other. That were... He sighed, soft and barely audible, just his luck.

"Because you seem soo much interested. I heard you huffing before I even arrived." This was going to quickly escalate and devolve into some petty s**t. It was so much easier when life was about hunting, culling and eating. Now she had to brush her skills up on the niceties. Or burn those in her path. But legendaries were a special bunch, their own niche club. And Lull, though not friend was not a foe either. But worthy nonetheless.

"Why don't you go hunt, sweetie?" she completely ignored the couple.

The mare scoffed at Doom's reasoning. That always had been her weakness. "With as many blessings as I have done, I am quite allowed to be hesitant," she retorted, almost hotly. It was clear her composure was not at it's strongest and she couldn't help feeling irritated.

"It seems to me, you're the one who needs practice in hunting. How long did you trail me before you realized you couldn't take me down?" came the reply. Accompanying it was a feral grin. (If she had been in owlcat form, she would have preened.)

"One does not simply walk into the swamp looking to eat another kimeti" Doom matched Lull's grin, a shiteating smile if there ever was one.

But the day was coming to a close soon and Doom wanted to hunt, an activity she was sure Lull would be behind. Like old times, she almost snorted.

Shifting slightly to the other foot, tail languidly sweeping from behind she suggested, "Why don't we ask the... buck to decide who'll bless him"

"If you knew I was a kimeti," she murmured to herself -- she was sure Doom heard it -- in amusement. Then with a grin that bared her teeth, "Yes, you," she turned her glowing eyes on the buck, "which of us do you want to bless you?"

Bitter Heartbeat who had been watching the exchange with wide eyes, flinched back, tail curling inward. He had been hoping, praying, that they would come to a solution on their own. Damn. He looked between the two, feral looking, mares and frowned. Briefly, he turned his eyes backwards to the sleeping doe. No, no, he wouldn't wake her.

"M-me?" he stuttered, much to his dismay. He frowned and his front hoof began to scratch the earth. Then deciding that the second mare had indeed said she would bless them, he turned his eyes to her. "I choose you," he told Doom. And regardless of making a decision, his body shivered.

Just like that, Doom's heart sank while she simultaneously envisioned engulfing the buck in flames. Stuttering and shivering! This did not bode well for the survival of Look-See's line. Despair waned and bubbled into frothy rage.

"YOU" she barked "You will take care of her of during this time if you don't want me to burn you alive." See, she was getting a hang of this blessing thing. For best results, the fire in her eyes radiated forward before rescinding into her curly locks.

"What is her name by the way?"

Turning to her favorite non-friend she asked, curious of how they have both grown, "Let's hunt again shall we? Big game!" The more they brought down, the more meat she could bring back for these two. Eyeing the spineless buck and helpless turtle she was thinking a boar or two would be good. She really did not have faith in the red one.

Actually Lull isn't totally invisible in Shadowmeld form; she's just really hard to see. So we'll just say Doom's Legendary senses kicked in. <3
The buck's jaw went slack at her ferocity. He resented that statement, as if he was going to run off and leave Wolf Parade alone! He might be cowardly but he was not a hit it and run type of buck.

"Wolf Parade," he returned, voice stronger, "and I would not leave her if you told me to." As soon as the words were out he winced. Oh damn.

The second mare, laughed. Did that even count as a blessing? A threat, yes, a blessing? She grinned at the luckless buck, "You should have chose me, I would made sure they had courage." The smile was mocking but not without kindness in some odd sense.

"Undoubtedly," the smile widened to a grin and she snapped her teeth. "The biggest."

One day we should RP Lull and Doom again. But I have two more RPs I need to do first and my major exam on Tuesday. I slightly godmodded BH. Is that okay? Tell me and I'll change it.

At Lull's response, Doom bristled. As this was her second blessing she forgot the most important, crucial part. "They'll be hardy and hale!"

Without another word, Doom jumped through the branches, excited, quick and spry. She had no time for stretches. She was positive Lull would soon be running abreast.

Gloom waited until Wolf Parade's mate controlled the shakings and sat down gingerly beside their doe. He waited some more until they both napped, the luckless turtle still upturned. Gloom edged closer to the sleeping pair and slipped between them a parcel of calming herbs and the season's best berries before returning back to Look-See. A measured nod was the only response from the mare at the blessing. It would not have been her choice but each Legendary had their own specialties and she would not begrudge Doom her choice. And it was much better than a promise to flay the buck alive if he screwed up.

With that done, she took off like a flash after Doom.

In his sleep, Bitter Heartbeat curled every more slightly around the mother of his children. After this, he may well end up with a very prominent aversion to fire.
