Roll a six: Electric Field: The field is completely flat. Standing at the four corners and at the exact center of the field are five electrical towers that stand at six feet in height. These release static discharge across the field at random; electric attacks may be able to amplify themselves by using these stray charges to their advantage. The discharges also programmed to encourage pokemon to avoid standing in one location for too long This field gives a 25 HP attack boost to ELECTRIC type attacks.

Alexa walked into the stadium and looked at Shina. She was glad that she was the gym leader but at the same time she was insanely jealous. She grabbed Apolla's pokeball and released her into the field. This battle would serve as good practice against Shina's newest addition.

"Oh my gosh, I love your tails!" Mari exclaimed, for once actually being completely sincere. "That shade of orange is amazing!" she gushed.
"Mari! Enough chatter, Thunderbolt!" Shina called.
"Sorry doll, trainer's orders," Mari said as she directed some of the wild energy in the room at the Ninetails.

Apolla basically preened at the compliment. "Why thank you! You have a lovely orange... gas around you. And your markings! So lovely." She commented back. She loved compliments, especially ones about her tails, and could give them back when it suited her. She was nearly hit with the electric attack and her fur began to get some static buildup. She looked at the Gastly for a moment and then back to her fur. If it began to poof up.... well the Gastly would pay for it.
This wasn't going well already as the pokemon seemed to be acting friendly. "Use Payback!" Alexa called out.
Apolla heard her trainer and complied lashing out at the Gastly. "Yes trainer's orders. But we shall have fun with them won't we?"

"Thank you darling" Mari said graciously. She ignored the sting from the attack, the conversation was much more interesting. "Always nice to talk to another girl about fashion, and thank you for understanding about that silly battle business. And may I say, your fur looks so silky! It's a shame we ended up with this field, that's got to be hard on it!" Mari said sympathetically.
"Mari! Thunderbolt, and pay attention to your aim this time!" Shina ordered firmly.
"Oh, I suppose I must," Mari said, as she attacked again. "Really, so rude. Can't she see we are having a conversation? And honestly, can't she ask for a nice Night Shade, or Psychic? I may not have fur, but I know electric attacks aren't good for a nice sleek coat!" she griped.

Apolla nodded. It really was nice to talk to another girl about fashion. "It is so nice to talk about those things. No one else on my trainer's team will talk to me about that stuff." She huffed. Hearing Mari talk about her fur practically made her puff up with pride. "Why thank you! I try so hard to keep it silky smooth. I have my trainer groom me everyday and I get a bath once a week." She said with a nod, "Yes all of this electricity is so hard on the fur. It'll take hours to get it back right if I get hit...." She never finished as she was suddenly hit with the Thunderbolt.
Sure enough her fur began to poof up and she looked at it unhappily. "Oh no......." She moaned. She then growled and began trying to groom herself.
"Apolla this is not the time to fix your fur!" Alexa called out, "Use another Payback!"
Apolla stopped when she heard her trainer and then looked at Mari. "I am sorry about this. I know how weak you are against these dark type attacks." What she didn't mention was that she was secretly glad to take out her anger on her opponent instead of her fur. She darted forward and lashed out with one of her tails.

"Oh, it's no bother," Mari said dismissively. "I'll just head over to the pokemon center later and that will be that," she assured the other. "And you must have a harder time with your baths, being a fire type. But I suppose it's true what they say: We all suffer for our beauty."
"Mari! What is with the chatter! Focus please! Thunderbolt," Shina scolded.
"Can't you see how fluffed her fur is already?" Mari called back, not that she honestly expected her trainer to understand. "Hmph! Well, at least it isn't Sludge Bomb?" she offered as she attacked.

Apolla tilted her head and smiled. Marigold was so kind. "No baths aren't too bad. My trainer usually takes great care when giving me my bath." She explained, "But back in the early days....." She shuddered and then was struck by lightening.
Alexa just wanted to hide her face behind her hands. It almost seemed as if the two pokemon were sharing beauty tips or discussing the cute boys they had seen today. "Oh Arceus..... Apolla! Come on please! You can hold the conversation after the battle! Another Payback!"
Apolla sighed hearing her trainer. "Why can't we talk now and not battle later." She muttered, "Hm.. yes I am glad its not a Sludge Bomb." She moved close to Marigold and her paw shot out to strike her.

"Battle, battle, battle. We are trying to have some girl time!" Mari huffed.
"Mari! If you focused a bit more on the battle, you might be able to dodge some of those! Try using the arena more, use the energy around you for Thunderbolt!" Shina called.
"Mmmm, you know what? Don't feel like it!" Mari sassed back. Instead, she drew a bit of wind around herself, settling herself. "So, lovely to hear that your trainer learned how to give baths to a fire-type! That must have made things so much easier! What is the rest of your team like?" she asked politely.

Apolla nodded and sat down to try and groom one of her tails. It worked a little but she had to stop in the middle of the tail as the field sent out of electricity near her.
Alexa noticed that the Gastly didn't do what Shina said and figured that she had used a stat boosting move. It was a good time to boost Apolla stats as well if they were going to get this little interlude. "Use Calm Mind!"
Happy with this command Apolla calmed herself and began to focus some. Hearing Mari's comments and then question she smiled at the ghost. "Oh yes... especially since she had to deal with fire types all the time. She's hoping to become the best fire type trainer out there." She commented, "Well we have a bunch of dumb canines on my team. There's Vincent the dumbest of the all. He's an Arcanine.... and there's a small Growlithe too. Poor thing has hearing and sight problems. There's also Farvardin. She's a Houndour obsessed with fighting. We also have an Altaria named Stribog. He's not too bad. He understands the need for a clean coat. Oh.... and we have an Eevee named Masked Socks. She's...... different."
She moved around some more before settling to groom herself again. "What is your team like?"

"Oh, my team is quite the mixed bag," Mari said. "There's Rasha the Ponyta, oh you wouldn't believe how much she hates dirt. Water just makes her flatten her ears, but get her with a Mud Slap and she'll trample you. Then there's Annabell, the Furret. Bloodthirsty little ball of fur and sharp ends. She's a bit of a cuddle bug though, if you manage to catch her when she isn't feeling like battling. ...it doesn't happen often. And-""Mari! I told you to use Thunderbolt!" Shina snapped. "Yeah, yeah, whatever!" Mari sassed. "Still talking!" She swirled more wind around herself though, as she continued. "Where was I? Oh! Yes, Tenka the Emolga would have loved this field. He likes hanging out on thermals and up in trees, and is prone to sass and falling in love at the drop of a hat. Mooned over this female Emolga for ages, silly thing. Then there's the Eevees, Yuki and Rei. My Arceus, they are sickeningly in love. I'm just waiting for babies to pop up. Apolla again calmed her mind boosting her attack. Apolla nodded after listening to Mari talk about her team. "Oh yes. They do sound like a mixed bag." She said. She had to dodge some electricity that came from the field. "So you have Eevees on your team too. They do seem to be a popular pokemon that the humans want." She commented, "I don't get why the humans go all crazy over them."
