Jake scratched at his cheek as he made his way to the training grounds. Getting off that sharpie... had taken a LOT longer than he thought. There was still the very faint residue of a smiley face on one cheek, though the redness from him scratching at it helped to mask most of it. Thank goodness he had dark skin.
The heart imprint over his eye though... he hadn't really managed to get off. Though at least it looked more like a fading black eye than a heart, which was something he could live with.
As for his hands...
He had swapped the glove he usually wore on his left hand to his right and the wristband to his left, effectively hiding the heart and star... and most of that bracelet print.
Annoyed, he shoved his hands into his pockets and walked in silence.

Sherry, for her part, was running. She'd slipped into her coat and tied her scarf on her way out of the dorms, but she was still late. Scrubbing her face had taken forever, and she still hadn't gotten most of the marker off. The make-up she'd dug up to help hide it worked to some degree; the eye-liner helped to offset hints of panda eye. Under her bangs was the faintest hint of a word, while her chin may have looked like there she was hiding a bruise, but there was little she could do about it, not without scraping off flesh. She was gonna kill him. It was going to be days before she looked normal again. "Jerk." A jerk she soon saw, walking down the path. Oh, good then, she wasn't quite late. Sherry took that fact as a cue to slow down. "Hey," she called as she neared.

He turned when he heard a familiar voice, and smirked when he saw her running.
"Looks like you got most of it off."
Of course, some of it was still kinda noticeable, prompting a snickering from him.
When she was close enough, he only raised an eyebrow, and leaned in to get a closer look.
"Are you... wearing make-up?"
He scoffed.
"This is a SPAR, mind you, not a date. What the hell are you getting all fancy for?"
The snickering from Chester was almost quite audible.

"Most of it," she used one hand to push her bangs down again.
His snickering brought a scowl, but his questions brought...was that a moment of fluster? A blush? Oh, god. She hoped the make-up hid that. Why in the name of anything was she even--
Sherry scowled more. "Of course it's not a date. It's not meant to be fancy, it's to hide the fact that some jerk went crazy on my face." She placed on hand on his shoulder and gave a playful shove.
Armagnac grumbled.

He had completely missed that fluster and grinned.
"Well, maybe if you didn't suck so much..."
The shove only reminded him what they were here for.
"Right."
Upon arrival at the training ground, he summoned Chester and turned to face Sherry.
"You ready?"

"It's not like I was trying to suck, sometimes things just happen," she was still scowling, but really, if Jake were observant, he would have seen no malice behind that scowl. Luckily...
"Of course I'm ready," she grinned. A flick of her wrist, a flash of light, and she stood holding Armagnac ready.
The lindwyrm was purring in her head.
"The question is, are you?"

"Good," Sherry grinned. Armagnac purred. The blade of the glaive went up, and came down. It was more for show, than anything else. Sherry knew what a spar was, and she had every intention of taking it seriously. But she was always a bit hesitant to go around trying to cut her friends to pieces. Armagnac was delighted, however. HP: 40/40 Damage: 0 -good start. Yep.

His comment only earned a glare. Since, she was kidding, but not really. Unfortunately, she didn't have time for a decent come-back. Jerkface clearly meant business.
Sherry ignored the weapon and stepped back. Damn, that had hurt. "Nice," she said, swinging her glaive in a wide arc.

She grimaced as she took another hit. Damn. He really was playing for keeps. This was going to hurt for a bit. What? There is no harm in being nice. "Forgive me for not wanting to actually kill you." She came in close this time, for more of a stab than a swing. HP: 27/40 Damage: 4 Charge: 2/3 [A.V.] I'm just gonna go sit over here in shame.

When she spoke though, he only frowned.

She'd been smirking, herself. It was a short lived victory. His next hit was another hard one. Jeez. He was good at this. Sherry made a mental note: Keep Jake around for missions. He hits hard. Armagnac was clearly not pleased. It took her a second to understand his jab, though. She'd all but forgotten about the word he'd written earlier.
