It had been a while since D'lin had gone to speak with Ceta a fact that kept being brought to his attention every time he woke up and looked at the damned green rug he'd decided to buy. It hadn't been until after Halith's flight that he'd made the connection but now that he had he couldn't look at the sharding thing without thinking about her. Reaching out to his bronze he found the dragon still sleeping and let him be.
At least Plexith had forgotten about the whole ordeal, for a few days his thoughts towards Ceta and Halith had been answered with ill tempered grumblings and angry stabs of betrayal from the bronze. D'lin knew better of course but he'd left the dragon alone knowing the bronze would forget about it in due time and he had - D'lin had just kept his distance from Ceta and her green until he did, the last thing he needed was Plexith making a scene about things. Or at least that was the excuse for his withdrawal that he was sticking with.
Sighing he stood up, kicking the blasted green rug further under his cot as he did so and getting dressed. This afternoon was flight practice and there were things to get ready. Determined to follow his dragons example and forget about the entire affair he started to gather up his things.

Ceta had had her own issues following the Flight. Not with the Flight itself-- she had adapted, as usual, and M'lan had been as apologetic and supportive as possible about the whole thing. It helped that he had offered her the chance to experience lovemaking without the haze of dragon eyes, too. Though they were only friends, it certainly helped take off all the emotional edges that lingered for them both.
Her bruises from the Flight had mostly faded by the time the next practice was due, for which she was thankful. Most were easily covered by clothes, but it wouldn't do to have someone seeing them. Like D'lin. That would be the most difficult to face, she thought. The conversation they had had before Halith Rose and the close friendship she shared with D'lin made her think he would not be pleased to hear that her first Flight had been as rough as he had worried it would be.
Halith fought against the thought of doing work for the morning, but Ceta managed to get her equipped for the practice and in the air with enough time that they at least wouldn't be late, even if they weren't early. And they weren't the first, she noticed as she arrived, but neither were they the last. Cetalese turned her gaze in the direction of D'lin and Plexith when they arrived. D'lin hadn't sought her out either afterward, which was a bit strange considering how concerned he had been for her beforehand when he learned about her own misgivings. She assumed he was just busy, though. There wasn't really another explanation for him not dropping by at least once in the last week or so.

As usual Plexith was giving him a run down on who arrived and when and so he knew that Ceta had arrived even before she landed. 'Halith and hers arrive.' The bronze shared with him in a cheery tone and D'lin found him self, once more, quite relieved that the bronze seemed to have forgotten about things.
'Is that everyone?' He asked the dragon as he squinted towards the landing pair.
'No, some are still missing..shall I contact them?'
'Not yet..give them a few more minutes.' D'lin responded, before turning to check his straps..even thought they didn't really need checking. He was stalling he knew..he ought to just go over and say hello, ask her how she was doing as a good friend should... but she seemed fine from what he could see of her, certainly Eliza hadn't come running up to tell him she acting strange..and she hadn't spent a couple days holed up in her hut sobbing or anything of that manner. Nah she didn't need him to go over and see how she was..he was just her Wingleader after all...though it hadn't hurt his feelings to see that she hadn't been wandering around with that M'lan character on her arm either.

Cetalese did not go to D'lin. She checked her own straps to make sure she hadn't misplaced any and then waited for the practice to begin, idly leaning against Halith. But she watched him and she didn't try to hide it. She was just keeping an eye out on his movements, waiting for the signal that it was time to get in formation.
Eventually the remainder of the wing did appear and Cetalese mounted Halith at D'lin and S'kor's instruction. No rider in the Gale Stalkers was a stranger to fight formations or flying together, so practice was a smooth affair. Halith went out of formation once, teasing one of her wingmates with a challenge, but Ceta got her back in order fairly quickly. Other than that, Ceta thought that they performed well enough.
The practice ended in late morning, letting all of the riders get out in time to make it to the messhall for lunch. Cetalese had Halith land near where D'lin and S'kor had landed, however, and dismounted as well.
"Hello, S'kor," she greeted with a smile. "D'lin, if you have a minute when you two are done talking did you want to get lunch?"

Practice had gone well, D'lin couldn't see any reason to complain or hold people up and so when it was over he'd waved the group off and was merely chit chatting with his fellow bronzerider when Ceta came up. Pausing for a minute he finally turned and offered her a hesitant smile. "Sure Ceta..I think we're about done here." He told her, because really he couldn't think of any reason to say no...and then she'd know he'd been avoiding her.
He didn't even want to avoid her..truth be told, if anything, he rather missed spending time with her, she was a good friend and a good rider. It was just..well it was complicated. "Do you want to hit the mess or call for something at the huts?"

"Whichever. The huts would be fine. I imagine that the mess will be crowded. I'll meet you at your hut?" After he agreed with her offer she gave S'kor a smile and said goodbye. Halith, still chattering at Plexith, lowered herself so her rider could mount and took to the air, heading back toward D'lin's hut. Ceta wasn't sure why she had chosen his home instead of her own, but something told her she would rather it be done here where she had the option of leaving-- or where he didn't have the option.
Ceta stripped Halith of straps, knowing that as soon as they went in for lunch she was going to convince Plexith or some other dragon to do something fun with her. It made more sense to take the extra weight of riding straps on the walk back to her own hut than to let them get worn out or potentially broken by one of Halith's stunts. Cetalese was so used to her dragon's antics-- and knew that original Trine riders were used to them-- that she didn't even bat an eye at them anymore.
She leaned against D'lin's hut to wait for him, not wanting to intrude by letting herself into his home before he arrived back.

D'lin tarried a bit longer on the field before heading back and upon arrival took note of her leaning against his hut. Typical of her really..to wait outside when it would have been more comfortable withing. The thought made him smile a little bit despite his awkward worry about lunch as he dismounted. "Be good." He warned the two dragons as he made him way towards the hut, ignoring Plexith huff of disdain..as though the bronze was ever anything but good.
"You could have gone inside." He stated as he approached. "Would have been more comfortable them leaning against the side." He added with a smile. N'mol must be out and about - probably with his Benden goldrider, the two were nearly inseparable most of the time it seemed like..

"That wouldn't be polite." She followed him inside, though, and sat herself at the table where they had lunch so many weeks ago.
"What have you been doing the last week or so?" she inquired, crossing her legs and swinging her foot back and forth comfortably. It seemed like nothing was off between them, but D'lin wasn't talking quite as much as usual. That was generally not a good sign. Maybe something had gone wrong, or...
She glanced around the room. It was relatively tidy, which was surprising considering there were two boys living in the place.

D'lin shrugged slightly "You know you're always welcome." He told her, throwing his riding jacket on his cot, nudging that blasted green rug further under the bed as he did so. The drudge he'd asked to bring them some lunch had not arrived yet so there didn't seem to be anything else to do but talk so he sat down at the table across from her and drummed his fingers a little bit. "Nothing much really, you know the normal..." He paused slightly to check on Plexith but the bronze had his attention firmly on something else so he proceeded. "..I'm sorry I haven't been over to say hi lately, I was uh..giving Plex time to forget about things, he was a bit surly after...well you know."
He wasn't sure why on earth he'd brought that up when it was the one topic he'd told himself he was going to avoid on the way here. But with the way she was looking around the hut like there was some sort of clue hidden somewhere he was sure she knew that something was up. Explaining his absence had been a bit of a knee jerk response.

Cetalese stared at him. Apparently he had cared about the Flight results, and that had been the reason for his slightly odd behavior and the lack of his presence in the last week. He had just blurted that right out, hadn't he.
Guilty conscience, much? the Eliza-voice in her head asked.
"Plexith was upset? About losing, you mean? But Halith's just a Green. Shouldn't he have forgotten about that in a day?" No other Greens had Risen yet since Halith's Flight to take Plexith's mind off of it, of course, but surely losing a Green Flight didn't bother Plexith enough that it took a sevenday to forget the slight.
Then again, Plexith was relatively young. Ceta always forgot he was only a Turn older than Halith. She frowned faintly at D'lin, still feeling confused.

D'lin glanced at the door as though wishing that the drudge would come along with their food and rescue him, but alas no matter how hard he stared no knock on the door came and he seemed sentenced to continue this conversation that he'd foolishly started. It wa all the rugs fault...he was goign to have to get rid of that rug. Drumming his fingers some more he sighed slightly. "He hasn't ever cared...before I mean, he's lost a green flight and didn't care at all...Halith is apparently special, she's his 'favorite' - he was all sorts of wounded when she chose another. You know how vain and proud he is..." He added before chancing a look at her. Ceta did know that Plexith was vain and proud and they both knew the bronze was particularly fond of Halith..but D'lin had started thinking that it wasn't just the bronzes feelings that had made him act so. That Plexith might be keying in on his unspoken feelings had started to weigh on him..but Ceta had never shown interest in anything other then being friends so he was just going to have to squash those thoughts.
"In any case I thought it best to just keep him away until he forgot..less he say something to upset her, she didn't do anything wrong, Plexith was just being a typical male I suppose." He added with a sheepish smile.

Cetalese took note of D'lin's slightly desperate glance at the door and her own eyes darted in that direction before returning to him. The confusion melted to concern. D'lin's following explanation made some sense-- it certainly did sound like Plexith-- but this was the first she had heard of it.
"His favorite?" she repeated, starting to feel like the second Harper in a round. She swept away the cobwebs of confusion and let D'lin finish his piece before she would take control of her own part in the conversation. This didn't seem to be a surprise to D'lin, so Ceta assumed Plexith had said something about it in the past. Halith did prefer to spend time with Plexith, as a matter of course, but it was like Velath. The three of them had riders who were friends and therefore they were the dragons she knew best. It had never seemed to occur to her that Plexith was an authority figure or a male. He was Plexith and that was good enough for Halith. Even after the Flight Halith didn't seem to remember Asoth was a romantic partner. Though she had spent several days in his company on-and-off it had been as friends. The Flight was apparently a distant memory for her already.
Ceta smiled back faintly at D'lin when he smiled at her and took a moment to decide what she wanted to say. "I doubt she would have understood. She doesn't seem to understand what romance is. Even the first day after the Flight, Asoth was a compatriot rather than a partner." Her smile turned wry when she said the thought aloud. It was well known that Halith, even as an adult dragon, was a huge child in many ways, unlike her rider.
"Is that all, then?" she asked, gaze piercing D'lin. "I didn't see you because Plex was upset?"

D'lin frowned slightly, both at her gaze and her remarks. "I don't think it was about romance so much..most of the other green's prefer Scarath..understandable given his temperament but Halith has always been Plexith's little buddy and Plexith likes to be seen as the best. It's more.. competitive..for him anyways. Flight's for him are about being the best and Halith thinking someone else was 'the best' just set him off..I suppose I'll have this to look forward to with gold flights too."
Running his finger along the edge of the table he avoided her piercing look for a few moments longer before glancing at her "Anyways I knew you were fine...Eliza would have come running over to tell me if you weren't....why? Did you miss me?" He added the last part with the intention of making it sound like a jest, and yet it somehow managed to come out with a hint of a true question in it none the less. Clearly he was terrible at this sort of thing.

Cetalese watched him for a long moment and then dropped her gaze. Truth be told, she had missed him when she let herself think about it. Once or twice she had let her mind wander and had wondered what he was up to that kept him so busy.
"Of course I missed you." Her voice was quiet, and then they were interrupted with a knock on the door. Cetalese was out of her seat first and she answered it for the drudge who had finally brought them their basket. She thanked the woman as she received the burden and then closed the door, separating the pair of them from the world again.
Cetalese set it on the table and begun unpacking it, her eyes on the food. She debated what to say and if she should say anything more at all. "I decided that you were just busy rather than avoiding me. I didn't want to bother you if that was the case." And, in the small part of her that said it was more than that, she had briefly been concerned that he was upset with her for some reason, perhaps felt he had let her down by losing, because she could see him looking at it as his job as her friend to protect her.
And maybe that was still part of the problem. She set a plate aside for herself and handed him his as that thought turned over in her stomach as well as her mind.
"It wasn't as if it was anyone's fault that Plexith didn't win, anyway." She kept the thought to herself for a moment, moving to her seat when the basket was empty.

Of course the food would come now D'lin thought to himself with a sour look at the door while she jumped up to answer it. Why couldn't it have gotten here earlier so that he could have been stuffing his mouth with food instead of his foot? Silently he let her separate the food and accepted the food though her comment about missing him had not been missed, and he tried hard not to give into the urge to smile...just a little bit.
Tearing off a piece of his roll he contemplated things for a few moments as he chewed. "Your never a bother Ceta. It doesn't matter how busy I am, I always have time for you...I've been a terrible friend lately and I apologize." If he were being truly honest he'd just flat out tell her how he felt but if he did and she said she just wanted to be friends then D'lin wasn't sure how he'd handle that. Probably mumble some 'of course' type of reply and attempt to do so..but it wouldn't last in the long run. Something would be ruined if that happened and given that conclusion it seemed prudent to just keep his mouth shut and keep going on as he had been since he'd come to the conclusion about how he felt.
