You will make an introductory post and roll a 100-sided dice during your introductory post. This post is basically you walking onto the stage once more with your Pokemon in a Pokeball or next to you.

Then your opponent will do likewise, also rolling a 100-sided dice. Person with the highest roll goes first.

HP/Attack bonuses count if your Pokemon has them. Pokemon that cannot evolve any further have 1000 HP. Pokemon that can evolve one more time have 900 HP. Pokemon that can evolve two more times have 800 HP.

Now for every attack post, you roll one 6-sided dice which will let your opponent know how to react to your post. 1 = your attack misses, 2-5 = your attack hits for 100 damage, 6 = your attack hits for 200 damage. Even stuff that normally does not do damage - such as growl - will do a kind of unseen damage in that it will hurt your opponent's dignity or whatnot.

Super effective/resistance/immunity/whatever do not count. Although please don't say you punch a Ghost Pokemon in the face. That's just not elegant - try to make all attacks seem reasonable and keep beauty/grace/cuteness/etc in mind. Also try to humiliate your opponent if possible - you are making your own Pokemon look good and your opponent's Pokemon look bad!

At the end of every post, please include your Pokemon's HP.

After 5 posts from both sides (10 posts in total not including the intro posts), time will be called and the battle will end regardless of if a Pokemon has fainted or not. You will be scored on both how much damage you have done, your general performance throughout the battle (so RP your best!), and your creativity throughout the battle.

A response post from each side after the 10 damage posts in response to a KO or finished time is allowed to bring the battle to a culmination. Judges will post shortly after to let you know who won.

If you do not make a post within 24 hours (subjected to change) of your opponent's last post, you are automatically disqualified and your opponent wins the battle. We will then alert you of your next battle.

After the scores had been announced, there was a brief moment of gleeful hugging and whispered congratulations from Arissa to Kishin. They'd passed the first round of their very first contest! But she quickly composed herself and tried to plan for the next round. She was up against Kumiko...that was the little Mew, wasn't it? This could be an interesting match. But they'd been practicing, she was certain they could do it.

When their match was up, she stepped into her side of the stage, with Kishin walking alongside. Kishin was on the side facing the audience, so they could get a good look at her. Arissa took a few steps forward, then stopped and waited for her opponent to appear. When the other contestant was on the field, she sank into a curtsy, stepping one foot forward and bending her knees while spreading her skirts and bowing her head. Kishin copied the movement, though since she lacked a skirt she flared her wings out from her hips in imitation of one.

They rose in unison, guided by a practiced subtle hand sign from Arissa. Then Arissa took two steps back with Kishin simultaneously took two steps forward. This left Kishin nearer center stage and ready to fight, with Arissa off to the side and ready to guide.

Ai had waited with stony composure as the scores were released. Her face had not betrayed her excitement when she saw that Kumiko had made it. He hadn't gotten the best score, it was true, but at least they had qualified and weren't very far behind.

She felt a bit less enthusiastic when she saw who they would be facing.

It would be their first actual battle, and against the strongest performer among the finalists... quite the challenge for an amateur coordinator with a baby pokemon. But failure was not an option!

Ai put on her friendly face and walked up the steps of the stadium, beaming and waving at the crowd. "Go for it, Kumiko!" she said in a peppy voice, tossing the masterball up into the air.

Kumiko reappeared in a beam of red light. He turned to the audience and waved at them, giggling, before turning back to look at his opponent. He smiled at the Archeops and waited patiently. He was a good boy! He knew that Ai would tell him what to do.

Kishin looked up with interest as her opponent was released. Was that a baby she'd be fighting? The motherly Archeops really didn't want to hurt a child, but she did have a job to do. Still, she couldn't help cooing at the baby a bit.

<"Hello there, little one!"> she trilled cheerily. <"You must be skilled to get so far, I bet your trainer is very proud of you."> She frankly had to resist the urge to go over to the infant Mew and just cuddle it. If they weren't in the middle of an important match, she probably would have. <"Let's do our best, dear, and I'm sure we'll have a fun match,"> she said instead.

Arissa was going to have her pokemon start, but she recognized the misty look in her pokemon's eyes, and the gentle tone of her voice. She'd gotten that way once before when they ran into a Zorua pup. It seemed Kishin had strong maternal instincts, so she figured she'd just give her pokemon a moment to work them out of her system. She smiled at the Archeops and waited for her to compose herself.

Kumiko's ears perked up at the sound of Kishin's motherly voice. He smiled at her, though he was a bit confused by her kindness. Sadly he had never had a parental figure, and he was much more used to Ai's annoyance than friendliness.

"Focus, Kumiko," Ai warned the mew quietly. She knew the warning signs; Kumiko had been about to go investigate the archeops that he was supposed to be fighting. She wasn't going to let the easily distracted mew ruin everything!

Kumiko didn't want Ai to be mad. He did his best to refocus, despite his raging curiosity about that odd-looking bird pokemon.

As Kishin had her little exchange with Kumiko, Arissa considered her first move. Perhaps they ought to start with something less confrontational, to ease her pokemon into the battle against the baby. "Kishin, strut your stuff with Rock Polish," she instructed.

Kishin smiled at the Mew and lifted her wings, sweeping one behind her and shifting her stance to one that looked poised to move in any direction. Then she began to dance, her feet gliding across the stage as she twirled and dipped to an internal music. Her wings and tail were in constant motion, flourishing like the fans in an exotic dance. As they did so, they gently brushed against the rockier parts of her body, such as the head, tail and feet. By the time she paused, peering coquettishly over the top of one wing, her rocky hide was gleaming bright as a smooth river stone. Even her feathers shone as if freshly groomed. She tilted her head slyly to one side as she looked up at her opponent.

"Double Ice Punch-- low, like we practiced," Ai commanded.

Both of Kumiko's fists began to glow a soft blue. He raised his arms above his head, then brought them down swirling around his body, causing his soft, shiny pelt to stand out even more. The icy glow left ribbons of light trailing behind, like a ballerina twirling her ribbon wand. And, like a ballerina, Kumiko began to dance in the air, leaping and still flourishing his paws in his well-practiced synchronous dance. His arms grew faster and the light more intense, building more and more intricate loops in the after-image, until at last he brought swept both paws forward and pointed down at the stage floor, as if he were rolling a pair of bowling balls.

The bright blue lights left his paws and went skating silently across the floor of the stage. The stage became white and icy behind them. The twin orbs of icy energy were headed straight toward Kishin's feet. With any luck, Kumiko's opponent, who had already made her feet smooth and slippery using Rock Polish, would lose her balance on the slick stage.

Seeing an attack rolling her way, Arissa reflexively called, "Acrobatics." They'd practiced using it to evade moves, perhaps they could get it to work here.

Kishin swifltly leaped up, curling her body forward to attempt a front flip and sail right over the attack. But she was not quite quick enough, and the balls of light caught her feet just as she was leaving the ground. Instantly they were coated with a fine layer of ice and stiffened from cold. Normally her flip would end with a graceful landing, but with frozen feet and an icy floor, she instead landed hard and immediately began sliding.

She flapped her wings frantically as she scrabbled for purchase, but her feet just kept sliding. After the first rush of panic, her movements slowed as she realized she wasn't falling just yet. She found if she moved her feet more slowly, she could glide across the ice. This reminded her of something she'd seen on TV with Arissa once, and she decided to give it a try. She began pushing off with deliberate movements, sliding along the surface of the frozen floor. With each stroke she grew more confident and picked up speed, until it was quite obvious the prehistoric bird was ice skating.

She skated straight at first until she began to run out of floor, then aided by a flick of her wings, she inscribed wide arc that turned her around. She skated in broad circle that turned into an ever-tightening spiral that left her spinning briefly in the center. Then she kicked off for one corner of the stage, picking up speed before taking a sharp turn, aided by strong flaps of her wings and tail. She shot towards the other end of the stage and performed another quick turn, heading back towards the center of the stage to complete a rapid figure 8. She performed another one, faster and tighter so that her skidding turns sprayed glittering shavings of ice into the air.

By now she could feel the ice on her feet wearing thin, so she decided to get rid of it. As she headed for the center again, she turned towards Kumiko and picked up as much speed as she could. Then with a sharp flap of her wings she leaped into the air, performing a midair double somersault before shooting feet-first at the Mew.

"Vaccuum Wave!" Ai commanded, nearly panicking.

Kumiko's paws began moving quickly again, but his attack came barely in time. The vaccuum wave pulled Kishin's feet straight down while Kumiko dodged by rising higher, but a claw still grazed him.

He didn't stop after Kishin had landed; the ice on the stage had melted into puddles of water, and this he sucked up into his invisible mini-tornado, so that it seemed that the water had a life of its own.

He shifted his paws slightly and the water obeyed. It undulated across the stage, creating abstract shapes and catching the lights from the stage. The light refracted across Kumiko's fur. The pattern of waves, full of shadows and highlights, tracked over his body for a moment, hinting at the mysterious legendary pokemon's origins.

Then Kumiko brought the water around himself once more, creating a ring around his body that spun faster and faster until he executed a water-bender's water whip at his opponent.

Ai was rather amazed while she watched this stunt; although they had practiced redirecting attacks using Vaccuum Wave before, she had not taught him the water trick. Then again, maybe Kumiko just thought this was a game and was simply making it up as he played along; he seemed to be having a good time, anyway.

The Vaccum Wave had driven Kishin straight down, and hard, which made her land with enough force to break off the remaining ice on her feet. She hopped one long, wing-aided step back as her opponent sucked up the water, wanting to put some distance between herself and whatever was coming.

When Arissa saw the rope of water shooting at her pokemon, she quickly called "Stop it with AncientPower!" Acrobatics had been ineffective in dodging, but perhaps this might work better.

Kishin flicked one wing upward, trying to disrupt Kumiko's attack, but the liquid lash was too quick for her. It slammed into her, sending her skidding backwards. But immediately afterward a large rock burst up from the place where she'd been standing, plowing through the water and scattering it into a multitude of shining droplets. Kishin regained her footing as she swept her other wing upwards, sending some smaller rocks shooting up to fly through other parts of the whip and scattering them as well.

Kishin stood poised with her wings pointing across the stage, flicking her flight feathers in time like a conductor directing an orchestra. With each flick, small rocks flew upwards to toss up the water into shining fountains that glittered in the light of the stage. Since she was keeping time with her motions, there was a kind of rhythm to the splashes caused by the disrupted water. It was a simple melody, but being played only by crystalline tinkles of water, gentle patters of falling droplets and light percussive thumps of falling rock gave the music an ephemeral quality.

The music rose in pace, with more rocks hitting the floor in an ever more rapid drumbeat that rose like rolling thunder. As the water dwindled away, too widely scattered or evaporated to use further, the stony tattoo rose to a crescendo. Then a cluster of rocks all hit the stage all at once with a loud boom, while simultaneously a large rock shot up directly beneath Kumiko.

Kumiko made the mistake of trying to dodge the giant rock sideways, rather than by flying straight up. The boulder bruised his flank and knocked him off balance, rolling him over once in the air before he caught himself again. He was facing the audience when his enormous, mismatched eyes began to fill with tears and his lower lip trembled.

Ai had been afraid of this, but as always, she had a backup plan. "Kumiko! Focus Blast!" she said sharply, to ensure that he paid attention.

Kumiko closed his eyes, squeezing out two large teardrops. His body enveloped in a pale white halo at the same time, so that the tears sparkled as they fell and hit the stage floor, like a final punctuation to Kishin's percussion.

That was only the beginning, however. The glow grew brighter and brighter as Kumiko came under focus until he had built his own spotlight. He opened his now tear-free eyes and began to fly back and forth through the air, swinging like a pendulum, and growing brighter by the second. Soon he was creating another after-image, this time of a snow-white glowing crescent, rather than blue ribbons. His swings went wider and wider, until he was traveling in a full circle. Then he released the pent-up energy and the hollow moon's circumference dispersed in a shock wave. Kumiko stood in the center where he could not be affected, but anyone else on the stage would feel the blast. By the time it reached the audience, however, the light had softened to a slight, warm glow before it disappeared entirely.

Arissa watched with some trepidation as the scope of Kumiko's attack grew ever larger. There would be no dodging this, best to try and withstand it. As the attack began to blast outward, she instructed, "Hold fast with Steel Wing."

Kishin shifted to a fighter's stance and folded one wing across her front, as if reaching for a sword. Her polished body flashed bright silver until she looked to be made of solid metal. Then she swept the wing forward like someone in a samurai movie slashing at a midair target. She braced herself and held that position as the blast washed over her, the bright light overwhelming her until all that could be seen was a stark silhouette in the midst of a maelstrom of white.

As the light passed her by and faded, the fossil seemed frozen in place, with not a twitch to betray the fact that she was alive. She'd clamped her feet into the floor of the stage and allowed her coating of metal to thicken as much as possible, allowing her to weather the blow. As her form faded into view it could be seen that she was not unmarked, however; the abrasive force of the blast had worn her form to a dull sheen until she appeared to be a life-size pewter figurine.

Once the attack had passed she moved again, somewhat stiffly at first like a statue come to life. She stepped deliberately towards the Mew, moving more fluidly with each step until she was running. She swept her wings back and to the sides, then bounded into the air at Kumiko. She twirled like a top as she went, a whriling dervish of feathery blades.

"Ice Punch! Shield!" Ai prompted.

Kumiko's paws became coated with an icy energy once more, but this time he clapped his paws together once. When he drew them apart again, a thick sheet of ice grew between them, and this he held between himself and Kishin's hard wings. The force of each stroke pushed him back a few inches in the air and his arms felt numb. But he rotated his shield bit by bit, for every time the steely feathers landed, they shaved a piece of the ice sheet off.

But Kumiko was not rotating his shield at random; when gravity overtook Kishin again, Kumiko held up his masterpiece. By rotating the canvas and using Kishin's steel wings as his sculpting tools, he had created a frozen, crystalline heart. It glistened and sparkled as the stage light glinted off its many facets. Kumiko presented the ice sculpture to the audience, beaming.

Arissa considered their next move. It looks like the time was just about up, so they had perhaps one more chance to impress the crowd. But Kumiko's attack didn't seem to leave them much to work with. But when Kishin landed, the impact kicked up a small cloud of ice shavings cast off by the last maneuver. That gave her an idea. "Kishin, finish with Acrobatics."

Kishin, who had shed the metal as she descended, had still been spinning from her last attack, and was just starting to slow as she landed. But when she heard the order and saw the shimmering chips of ice in the air around her, she continued whirling. As she did so, she dipped down enough to scoop up more ice fragments and toss them in the air, so that soon she was in the center of a whirlwind of glossy feathers and glittering snowflakes. She took care to sweep her wings high and low, varying the height and speed of her movements to send the ice swirling in a variety of patterns, with occasional flicks of her tail adding small bursts of counter-swirls.

The small pieces of ice melted very quickly however, and her shining escort soon began dispersing in small drops of water. Before they could disappear completely, Kishin started skipping around the stage, never ceasing to whirl and carry the gleaming fragments around with her. Then she sprang at Kumiko, diverting her spin into a barrel roll that launched her directly at the other pokemon, trailing a twinkling train that faded away even as she neared the other competitor.
