The statue was still there. He was slightly surprised that it had not been moved. After Mark's three seconds of hope, he had done his best to push the thoughts away. There was too much to deal with at one time, he had been numbed by the multiple blows of loss of hunters and his weapon alike. But now he had more room in his head to mull over the events. In all honesty, it had made him sick. It wasn't just the grief of seeing the former hunter like this. Or the shame of his actions. No, it was how many of the hunters had turned on their insanity stricken allies. Was he aware that Marcus' was one of them? No, he could not be sure of who had and who hadn't. He was too far away to see clearly who had attacked (Except for Rep, but then you could spot the red hair and giant axe a mile away) The moon trainee slowly approached Marcus, or what was left of him. For now he would let himself grieve. He hadn't had the chance to do so before. <....I never would of picked him to go down like this...> The voice in his head was softer this time. There was none of his usual smugness.
Jason nodded. He didn't trust himself to speak at the moment.
'....Will you miss him?" The thought entered his mind. It wasn't like their weapons could talk everyday, but there could have been another chance for the fallen angel to meet with the vampire once more.
There was a pause.
'I see....'
Jason was silent for some time, merely staring at the ground in reflection. He wasn't sure how long he had stood there, but after a while he began to speak.
"I don't know if you can hear me Marcus...But I would like to thank you" He spoke to the statue. His last words to the fallen.
"I am not much of a hunter by any means, but you still helped me. Gave me advice when I needed it, defended me in the midst of battle...I just wish you were still around, so I could get to know you better. Even return the favor at some point. But I don't think thats going to happen now..."
There was a shaky sigh as the trainee composed himself. "If it's any consolation, I will still keep going. I will focus my skills, so that one day I can prevent these things from happening. Maybe then I will be a decent enough hunter so I can pass my knowledge onto others..."

There was one thing about being mistaken for dead that was nice. No body went looking for you. People grieved, people moved on. That was how it worked in Deus ex machina. The only thing that had been annoying had been going home to an empty house, and then some deathie showing up, looking to loot the place. It was registered under him and Cass so why- he sighed. He'd chased the a*****e off, then gone to make sure Cass was still alive. No report had come in indicating she'd been killed thank god, but, it was slightly alarming to know that he'd need to lock up the house more. Just proved he couldn't trust anyone. Dis was trying to get back into Marcus's good graces. Trying to 'patch it up'. But while the weapon didn't remember his insane orders and demands, Marcus did. He remembered each word, each hissed syllable. He remembered why Dis was volatile, and why he'd resisted so much in the first few months. Marcus remembered, and now the vampire was stuck with a hunter that didn't trust him. Not that it mattered. They both knew that in the end, Dis didn't need trust, he just needed control. Sighing, the moon hunter looked up from the various construction reports. The jungle outpost needed a few small patches and some one in some division was requesting more chairs that were 'sturdy'. A pain, given the chairs were vanishing at an alarming rate. Why, he didn't know, but he just assumed some suns were too slow to realize what chairs were for. Sitting. Not slashing. Speaking of slashing, he'd been told the statue of himself was still lingering, fall apart, but, lingering. A depressing sight in his opinion. Why they didn't just throw it in the ocean was beyond him. Maybe some people thought it would be a nice lawn ornament. Not on his lawn though. It was odd to see Jason of all people by his statue, talking to it of all things. "I can hear you." More guilt came back. People cared, and they mourned. And they thought he'd been dead. Didn't help that he'd purposely avoided others. "Sorry Jason. I- Well." He held out his arms. "I'm afraid I'm still here. Wish granted?"

It wasn't a hard stretch of the imagination for him to believe he had lost it. Or he was having a second case of voices from insanity, but he was pretty sure he had lost it. He could hear Marcus's voice behind him. That was a sign he was going crazy, right? But he turned anyway. Just to see if he was talking to a figment of his imagination. Or hell, maybe he was talking to a zombie. But the hunter that stood there was not glowing with ectoplasm, nor did he appear to be decaying. He blinked a few times. Just to make sure. Nope, Marcus was still there. Apologizing. Heaven knows why he was apologizing for being alive. Unless he faked his own death. Still staring, the truth sinking in that, at the very least, Marcus wasn't dead. He had managed to survive. His fists clenched, but not in a agressive manner. No, it was a attempt to keep himself from blubbering all over the moon hunter. He didn't want to appear like a child. But, Marcus's hands were held out. And as much as he wanted to be cool and repair his tattered pride, today he would take a day off. Arms flew around Marcus in what he hopped was a manly hug but ******** that he was alive he was alive he was ******** alive. "T-thank god!" He choked, blinking back tears as he gripped the other. He then stood back, one arm wiping away the moisture in his eyes. "I thought you were goner...

Marcus was at times, an affectionate person. He didn't dislike being touched, and was not adverse to touching. Hugs were fine, pats on the shoulder were all okay. But this was awkward. Not because he was being held, or Dis was making a joke but rather because the fact was that Jason thought he'd been dead. Plus grown men crying was a bit odd in public. Private was okay, you could hide it better, public- "It's okay." He wasn't sure what else to say. It was... odd. Being considered dead. Then actually... not being dead. "Sorry. I didn't really come out when I woke up." He'd gone into a ball of silent joy and misery. Now was more misery then joy with Dis back. Arms wrapped around Jason in a odd man hug of awkward before he let go, giving the guy a small shake of the shoulder along with a smile that wasn't quite as real as it had once been. "Thought I was out of it, sleeping really." He sighed, tugging on his ear, feeling oddly bare without Dis attached and rather on his pocket. "Was kind of nice? But living is a bit better. More colorful and interactive."

"You were sleeping?!" Jason had managed to regain his composure now, listening to Marcus as he talked. He looked towards to the statue, then back to the hunter. "Where you actually in that statue? What happened during the fight? How did you survive?" The moon hunter then frowned. "kind of nice? Thats...." He trailed off, trying to think of what it would be like. It sounded too much like a 'eternal slumber' for his liking, but then, having a week long nap would be pretty good. "Does anyone else know?" He asked. " That you're still alive. I'd imagine there would be others that would be relieved to know you're alright."

A shake of his head, the moon hunter tried to explain a bit better, clearer. "I don't think so? It's difficult. I can't really tell you as I don't know myself? I was asleep, then in infirmary. Pretty much." He gave a shrug of his shoulders. "As for people knowing- a few, not many. Mostly I'm worried about Cass. She- she was transferred off base right after and has no idea. I'm trying to get into contact with her right now but then-" Another shrug. "It's been a long few days. Just want to get back to work and back to normal, whatever that is."

It didn't look like he would get any more of a explanation, so Jason decided to just let it drop. The details didn't seem that important anyway. Especially to Marcus whom appeared concerned about someone called Cass. Or, he thought he was. The senior moon hunter was doing a lot of shrugging. "I hope you get in contact with her soon." he said with a worried look. There wasn't much else he could really say on the matter besides wish him luck. Though when he spoke of normalcy, a sad smile adorned the moon trainee's face. "back to normal, huh? That sounds like a great idea." Now, if only he could figure out just what normal was; he hadn't experienced 'normal' ever since day one.

A heavy sigh, Marcus nodded. “Yeah. It’s just a lot of work you know. With our numbers so low, I’m working overtime as is. Free time I wasted recently, and now I’m back on full time cycle. Mornings as Nurse, Afternoons working on the repair and construction team, evenings on private training and the assigned duties. Moon lounge.. just glad it’s been stocked as of late. If I had to deal with one more unstocked medkit…” A sad shake of his head. “You’d think the life techs would you know, tell us, but no- leave it to us. Thank god we have majority control of long term care.” Motioning for Jason to join him as he walked, the moon hunter was trying to find his smile, to force it out. Jason deserved at least that much. “Normal will take a bit but it’ll come to us. Anyway, my magical revival aside, you been doing okay? Keeping up with training?”

The moon trainee's eyes lit up at the mention of the word nurse. It was a role designed to provide medical care to others, and it was something he would not mind doing in the slightest. Hell, he would absolutely enjoy it. "I had no idea you were a nurse Marcus." Jason replied, a slight note of praise in his voice. "While it must be a lot of hard work, I have to admit it would be a amazing feeling to be able to nurse other hunters back to full health." Much better then watching them die. Came a very amused voice inside Jason's head.
Jason looked like he was going to be sick. "Er, thats great you can take care of them longer..." He said ,clearly half listening as he pinched the bridge of his nose. He then waited for his weapon to stop talking about the things he could do in a hospital before he answered Marcus. "I'm much better then I was a few days ago...My trainings going alright, I'm practicing a lot more now. It's something to keep my mind occupied.
