Well, to say that he expected to be here would have been an outright lie. He'd always believed himself brave and strong but having come all this way he felt a certain type of pride that his training as a guard had paid off. He was certainly not as rested as he had been when he had first started this venture, but then, who was? All that mattered now was that he put enough into this fight and still held back enough energy to continue should he rise victorious.
His next opponent was something of a mystery to him, though. A newly joined rogue male, apparently, just as those he had fought before him were. It made him more nervous, though, seeing as how he did not know them and what tricks they might have at their beck and call. Besides, this male had also won himself a few rounds, too. That meant he had some degree of skill. These rounds were not about to get any easier.
Still, as he moved towards the lion that some helpful Ela'wadiyian had pointed out as his next opponent, he tried to push all his nerves away and focus on the task that lay ahead of him.
"You are Maraba Edi, are you not? My name is Poa Subiani, of Shadow Clan. Are you ready to begin?"

Winning his first duel had been a bit of a surprise for Maraba Edi, as he was humble enough not to assume he'd win. This time wouldn't be any different, though a victory did do good for a lion's confidence! So, despite still being a little sore from his match with Taqa, he felt pretty good about this next match. He was not here to impress anyone, including himself, so he honestly felt no need to be nervous. Again he was facing one of the native lions, just as covered in intricate tattoos as his last opponent. Maybe one day he'd hear the stories behind some of those!
"I am! It's nice to meet you." He wouldn't skip a few pleasantries, especially because he was about to fight this lion. There shouldn't be a doubt that he was a nice guy, and they could be friends if they wanted you. This was just sport, right? "I'm ready."
(not gonna roll, lol xD Just go ahead! <3)

wooga Paes On my phone right now so replies will be short! Poa nodded as he readied himself into his 'battle stance', head lowering and legs bracing against the firm ground. The lion seemed like a friendly enough lion and he couldn't help but think this a slightly odd way to meet a lion for the first time. Still, that could not be helped. Later if he was still feeling in a good mood (he was prone to grumpiness) perhaps they could talk in a more normal setting.
Seconding to start them off, Poa advanced with care, deciding first to test the waters and try to garner how much talent his combatant possessed. He swung out a paw and felt nothing but air.
A miss!
So, he'd need to be quicker!

Maraba's HP: 24
The first attack was dodged simply enough. Not that it had been a bad move, but landing a good strong hit on the first shot was just hard; Maraba had plenty of time to prepare and duck under and away from Poa's paw.
He shot out with one of his own to strike at either Poa's chest or shoulders, but when made, the contact felt relatively weak. Hm! A slow start for both of them, looked like. Maybe they could pick up this fight soon enough.Kimaria That's fine! <3 if you want we can go rolling then fill them out, too.

He felt the knock against his shoulder as he was retreating - not a strong hit but perhaps more a warning. This male clearly had good reflexes and Poa would have to be cautious about that. Speed was not something he had on his side being as short and stocky as he was.
He set his paws again and threw Maraba Edi a determined smile. "Looks like I'll have to try harder." Setting his paws firmly again he pushed off of his hind legs and sprang at his opponent, attending to tackle him head-on as quickly as he could.

He returned the smile, but it faded once the other lion came flying at him. Oops! That had been quite a blunder, Maraba thought, as Poa crashed into him, neck, chest and shoulders. He could help but topple over and land on his side. That one hurt!
Fortunately for Maraba he was quick on his feet, and immediately reacted, kicking with his paws to make sure he didn't get pinned down, and intent on getting back up as quickly as possible.

The impact sent a wave of brief pain through Poa, staggering him enough that the kicking paws struck true. One paw even managed to catch him in the face, smack straight on his nose. The surprise of the strike threatened to bring a yelp into being - though he did his best to muffle it.
Ouch. He hoped it wasn't bleeding! And, annoyingly, he had to make a real effort not to reach up with his paw to check on its condition. He could fuss over his wounds later...
Desperate to make a quick recovery he drove back into the fray, throwing out a paw in a sideways arc - hoping to catch his opponent by surprise.

Maraba's HP: 18
And by surprise was Maraba caught! Though definitely pleased by the opportunity to get back on his paws, Poa's recovery had been pretty quick. So just as he was finally getting back into an upright position, a paw was flying at Maraba from the side.
He simply didn't have the time to react, and boy did he wish he had! He felt the pain rather immediately, and rather as a reflex he pushed forward to swipe back at the male. He felt contact but it didn't feel like a great hit.
Maraba felt he wasn't doing to well so far. He should probably work on stepping up his game!

Despite Maraba's feelings on the duel so far the truth was that there wasn't too much in it. Poa's initial miss was made less bad by the good tackle that had followed but they still both had a way to go before the outcome could be decided.
The glancing blow that took Poa on the shoulder knocked him off balance long enough that he seemed to lose his momentum. He backed up hastily a step or two, not wanting to be hit again and plunged into his next move. But this proved to be a mistake. The rushed attack some him make a clumsy move and he didn't even get a chance to lift a paw before he realised his mistake.
Oops...

Maraba's HP: 18
Something rather hilarious happened then, because Maraba had been anticipating a hit. So he had been very prepared to counter attack! When Poa failed and fell a little short, he wasn't left too much better off. After a somewhat awkward step forward, which would have been to meet any oncoming attack, Maraba Edi couldn't help but grin rather pathetically at both their clumsyness.
This was quite a match!

Poa was annoyed at himself for the hastily made mistake, turning his lunge into a quick evasion by rearing on his hind legs and twisting at the hip. For a horrible moment he thought he'd even done that wrong - his weight tipping him back a little too far for comfort. Still, he was surprised that Maraba Edi has also chosen that particular moment to make a mistake.
Poa had been lucky, but luck couldn't last forever, could it?
As he came down again to land on all fours, he dropped a paw in as swift an attack as he could manage.

Maraba's HP: 16
It had been an amusing little turn indeed, but Maraba tried not to let himself get distracted by that. He failed in evading the paw as it came down on him, hitting the top of his head. He blinked and wrinkled his nose slightly, but decided that it was simply best to push through. Both figuratively and literally!
He thrust himself forward with his hind paws, aiming to headbutt Poa's chest and neck before he could properly get himself together. Maybe some residual clumsiness would still be left!

And Maraba's attack was the truest of the true!!
Poa felt the impact rattle with bruising force despite the cushion of his mane there to protect him. An old ache from his previous battle crippled him as he was shoved completely off of his paws. He landed on his side in a cloud of dust, coughing and gasping in shock. Play this might have been but sometimes it felt close to the real thing. Poa was slower to recover than planned, flailing to find his feet as the breath struggled to find home in his lungs.
"That was a good hit." He managed to choke out, somehow feeling the need to acknowledge it.
In fact the hit was so good he couldn't even attempt a comeback, still struggling to catch his breath.

Maraba Edi's HP: 16
Admittedly, he felt a little sorry to see Poa fall like that. As much as he'd had his fair share of fighting as a rogue, this was a rather different situation! But he also knew the other male probably wouldn't want his pity, as that was how Maraba would feel in such a situation. "Thanks." He replied, unsure of what to say. "You're doing well too." He grinned. He was sure he'd be feeling all of this for some time after.
He waited a little bit, to give Poa a chance to get back on his feet and be sure he was alright before moving in again. He looked like he might go for another tackle, but stopped short and tried to strike the other male with a paw.

wooga Paes I like how these rolls are making sense for the RP! X3 The feint worked and the paw caught Poa with a surety that seemed to knock him. Poa could sense victory slipping away but wasn't sure - at this point - what he could do to change that. He was tiring and Maraba Edi was throwing out some extremely decent punches. If he didn't want to lose this he'd need to do something to get it back under control. But what, exactly?
He'd have to do something and quickly!
The short-statured lion skimmed off to the side, beginning a half-circle that took him out of safety for a brief moment, using it to evade another attach and catch his breath. The pain from bruises was easing again and he tried to block it out to focus on his plan. And then, when he felt the terrain beneath his paws become less rocky he paused momentarily and swept out a paw, sending a cloud of dust billowing into the air. Closing his mouth and holding his breath, Poa used the dust cloud to mask his attack as he lunged again, putting all of his weight into the leap and hoping - desperately - to land a decent hit.
