Welcome to the third Race!
Althea will be hosting, so listen up! The Owsla-marli doesn't care to repeat herself. Best of luck, and Frith-speed!

The third day brought the usual crowd to the tree again and Althea nodded to those she recognized. Once a fair number had gathered the owsla doe looked over to one rabbit in particular as if asking a silent question. The runner only shook their head though, and Althea sighed. So it was still up to her to lead this mess?

"Alright you lot, listen up. Today will be a challenge. Today you will actually be running down the Down itself. To the base of it... and then back up. Crow is waiting for you again at the foot of the hill, and today you'll be led by some extra help."

At this she turned to the silent runner, pointing them out.

"This one will lead you down so you can see how a runner would go about this. We've picked a relatively safe side of the hill, but make no mistake you can hurt yourself if you trip up and slide down the rest of the way."

She shuddered thinking about the next part.

"The run back up isn't pleasant either. Alright then, follow us and we'll tell you when to start..."

-----------------------------------------------------------------

How to Play

- You will be racing down a hill, and then back up.
- You will roll ten times total for the whole race, 5 for the way down, 5 for the way back up.
- ON THE WAY DOWN roll a d10 per post, for five posts.
------ If you roll a 1 you start to skid
------ If you roll a 1 twice in a row, you start to tumble down the hill! Your rabbit will suffer a few scrapes and maybe a cut, but can continue once they catch themselves.
------ If you roll a 1 three times in a row, you trip and skid down the rest of the hill! THIS CAN RESULT IN A MAJOR INJURY SUCH AS A BROKEN LEG. Your rabbit will not die (unless you choose so), but it will take several months to recover, it could heal poorly, and you will be handicapped in future Meta events and unable to race the rest of the games.
- ON THE WAY UP roll a d6 per post, for 5 posts.
----- If you roll a 1 twice in a row your rabbit has to stop to catch it's breath. You will lose a roll. Your next post will be about regaining your breath but do not roll. Your post after you can resume rolling, your way back up will only have 4 rolls total to tally.
------ If you roll a 1 three times in a row on your way up, your rabbit stops and is unable to finish the race.
- Please write at least one line of RP in each post
- You may edit your post to include the rp, but if you delete your post you will be disqualified

More Info

- There will be 5 races held
- Your rabbit must place in the top three for three two races (don't have to be consecutive) to be re-colored on the runner lines
- There will be hazards in some of the races, and there is a chance your rabbit could die

Rules

- DO NOT DELETE YOUR POSTS (and yes, I can see if you do that)
- You must use the rabbit you want to become a runner as the rabbit in these races
- In the event of a tie in scores, the person that finished rolling first will be ranked higher.
- If you mess up, forget to roll, etc etc. QUOTE THE MESSED UP POST and post again with your roll

WHAT YOU CAN WIN! (everyone's favorite part)

- Place in the top 3 in three races and your rabbit will become a Runner! -
- Every time you place in the top 3, you'll earn a piece of Flay-rah! (unless you win three times, and wish to turn your rabbit into a Runner. If that rabbit continues to enter races and wins you'll earn flay-rah for additional races) -
- Participate in all five races and you earn a piece of Flay-rah! -

WARNING! - Although your rabbit will not die in this race (unless you request it) YOUR RABBIT CAN BECOME HURT, both minor and major. Your rabbit could be scratched up, including to the point of scarring if you request it, and in the worse case can break a bone.

You follow the runner and the owsla to the crown of the hill, where down below you can see a black spot that must be Crow. How odd to see a big rabbit look so small.

The runner looks over the group quietly, ears flicking before looking down the hill itself. Two moments later and the rabbit was gone, already racing down the hill, hopping out of skids and continuing the mad dash towards the black buck.

A recap on how to play

- In 5 posts, race down the hill.
- for each of those posts, roll a d10
- if you roll a 1 your rabbit will start to skid, if you roll another one IMMEDIATELY after the first your rabbit continues into the skid and gets scratched up. IF YOU ROLL A 1 THREE TIMES IN A ROW your rabbit completely trips and skids all the way to the bottom of the hill, resulting in a major injury. A broken leg, a torn ear, a blinded eye, etc etc...

- If your rabbit isn't majorly injured, race back up the hill in the next 5 posts
- for each post roll a d6
- if you roll a 1 twice in a row you lose a turn at the dice
- if you roll a 1 three times in a row your rabbit stops and cannot continue.

THE RUNNER ABOVE IS A RAFFLE PRIZE.

Everyone that participates into today's race that also raced in the past two days BUT NEVER PLACED IN THE TOP THREE will be put into a list to receive the above runner.

You get to pick the gender <3

Nose twitching as he watched the runner bound down the hill, he thought it looked rather easy and didn't know what the owsla doe was making such a big fuss over. Bounding down himself, it was a rush to hop out into the open air and land further away than what felt like normal.

The next hop down wasn't as stellar, there were rocks and roots sticking out of the hill and loose earth that skid underpaw. Another bounce and he headed down, trying to keep his footing.

It was starting to get easier again, now that he knew what to do. More than half way down the hill now, he could see Crow quite clearly.

The instant he thought he was doing alright was the moment the earth gave way under his paws. Feeling it shift he just narrowly avoided starting a skid, though he was close to the bottom of the hill now.

Hitting the bottom, he nearly stumbled as he looked up at Crow and the runner, annoyed that it had been harder than it looked after all.
Turning around Cacao looked up the Down.
And up, and up and up...

Heading back up the hill now - use a d6 instead of a d10

This.
This wasn't fun. At all.
He huffed as he tried to make some headway, his legs already burning with the effort.

He was slowing down, he couldn't help it. His lungs were burning and no matter how hard he urged his legs to move faster they just couldn't. When he looked up the top looked so far away...

Wheezing, he faltered, wanting to stop and rest. But... he was almost there. So close. He pressed on, dragging his sorry hide.

I rolled two 1's in a row, back to back, on the way back up the hill. Because they're my 9th and 10th roll, I cannot skip my next roll, so I will not count this one, which was a 1.

Weak, he fought for breath as he dragged himself up, collapsing and heaving. Had he made it? He was too tired to even look and see.

Patchouli was ready. He had done fairly well in the previous day's race, unlike the very first. The pale brown buck stretched out his limbs and prepared at the start of the course, at the top of the down. It would be significantly harder, but he couldn't flake out now, not on the third day of the race and definitely not after his improved performance the day before. After it was let known that the race was on, he launched over the down's edge, doing his best to mimic the runner that had instructed them.

He had a terrible start, to say the least. He nearly lost his footing due to the suddenness in which he began is descent.
