For whatever reason, Pern shops are a drama magnet. We have assembled a MIGHTY LIST (okay just a few things) of commonly raised issues in Pern shops and how we intend to deal with them.
Please, if you do have an issue with how we are running the shop, please discuss it with us by PMing the mule before getting pissed. We want to make folk happy, not pissed.

Gold-specific complaints
X Person has multiple golds. This is going to be a possibility, yes. We are allowing transfers from DRoP to WoP, so some people are probably going to bring over their golds. However, we don't want to punish people for transferring, so transferring a gold will not limit their chances of winning more in future Hatchings/contests/etc.
As a goldrider, I should have input on my gold's clutch. Sorry, but we're not going to allow this. Hatchings are going to be staff-run, with staff decisions on theme/number of eggs/personalities/winners etc. We don't want to give goldriders OOC perks that other dragonriders don't have.
The person who won the gold in X Hatching/Contest isn't even a regular. Unless a contest is open to regulars/regular RPers only, we're going to judge everyone equally! So, if a newbie wins, they win. We realize that this can be disappointing and aggravating, but we're not going to penalize newbies for being new. If newbies are allowed to enter a Hatching or a contest for a gold, then they are going to be judged like regulars.

Staff-related complaints
Staff own all the weyrwomen/weyrleaders. This is a brand new shop, so we've placed NPCs in those positions for now. However, our goal is to replace at least half of the NPC leadership with PC, non-staff characters. This will be done gradually, but it will be done. Never fear!
Staff own all the golds. We're going to set a hard limit at one gold wher OR dragon per staff member. Currently, only one staffer owns a gold anything. Our current focus is on getting dragons to players, so we're not going to be making ourselves more golds any time soon.
It's not fair that X Person participates in all the shop events but didn't get a dragon in this Hatching. We're going to try to reward activity, but we're not going to punish newbies or shy people by only giving dragons to regulars. There probably aren't going to be enough dragons to go around at every Hatching. As unfortunate as it is when someone that participates often misses out (and it has happened to us, too, we know it sucks), it's going to happen now and then. But people who consistently participate in Hatchings aren't going to get skipped forever, rest assured.
So-and-So's entry for this contest was WAY BETTER than Such-and-Such's, so why didn't they win? This has come up in personality contests. Even if someone's entry may be more well-written, or more grammatically correct, or more in-depth, they may still lose. We're not trying to judge people based on the best writing (although good writing helps), but more on characters that we think sound interesting and dynamic and would suit the purposes of the contest well. This isn't to say that losing entries are bad or boring, but that the winning entry has something to draw our eye. This came up in another shop specifically when a fat, lazy, surly dragon won over a more genteel dragon. Although the kinder dragon's entry was more well-written, staff decided that the unpleasant dragon would be more interesting in the setting the contest was held for.
FAVORITISM. We're going to do our best not to show favoritism, and not to appear to show favoritism, to anyone. However. We understand that this complaint comes up. If you have an issue with how we have handled something, or believe that someone is being given special treatment, please PM us to see if we can sort it out.

Marmalade Rule Following in the footsteps of Warden's Weyr, Wings of Pern has instituted a Marmalade Rule, although here it's . What's that, you ask?
In essence it is a safe-word (well, phrase in this case) to use in the main thread if a topic of discussion makes you uncomfortable or if you feel grossed out by something or if you think it's going to cause ugliness that will leave people angry or butthurt. When the phrase Peter Dinklage's top hat appears in the main thread, it is a signal that the topic needs to change and must change immediately without questions asked or commentary opined. A new topic should be introduced by the next poster. If you're stuck for topics, there is a list at the end of this post.
The conversation may, of course, continue via IM or PM, but it should not carry on in-thread. If a person does not know what it means when you type Peter Dinklage's top hat and the conversation does not immediately cease, link them to this topic. If the conversation continues even after the uninformed party has been informed, PM a staffer (Princess_Feylin, troll toll, or pinchmonster).
We are trusting you not to abuse this rule, since the making-people-uncomfortable thing works both ways. If someone is constantly censuring others' conversations, those others are not going to be enjoying themselves. Please do not use this rule to boycott WoW talk or Pokemon talk or whatever. Yes it's boring if it's not your game of choice, but that doesn't mean others can't talk about it. Maybe they don't care all that much about your wedding plans or step-cousin-in-law's new baby either. This is the internet. You never know who you may be pissing off.
So, remember: To demand a new topic of conversation because the current one makes you uncomfortable or uneasy you post
Peter Dinklage's top hat

In light of recent events and concerns, we're instating a new rule.
If your character is present at a hatching and they Impress before the dragonet goes between, that character will not Impress again. They can stand, yes, but they will not Impress again.
This is NOT IC KNOWLEDGE.
No exceptions for anyone.
