Candace wasn't doing anything terribly exciting. She checked on Lance, she checked on her minipets, she read books, talked to Atropos, bothered Molly, checked on Gale...but she was still feeling restless. She wanted off the island so bad. She wanted to do something normal like shopping. It wasn't fair.

She was on her way back to her room after having taken Alice out for walkies when she stopped in front of Jerry's door. She hadn't seen him when they returned from their mission. Had he come back? Was he safe? Was he okay? It had been too chaotic for her to keep track of the man.

She needed to know.

Frowning, Candace knocked on the door. "Jerry?" She waited a few seconds before knocking again. "Jerry? Are you there?"

Oh thank god. Candace sighed with relief and opened the door enough to peek in.

When she didn't find him in the first room she frowned and stepped in, closing the door behind her and looking around. Last time she'd seen him alone in his room playing his guitar like this had been when he was dumped and depressed. She had hoped that the flower would give him hope that he could continue to be that way even after its effects had worn off. Guess it hadn't worked out that way...

She continued into his bedroom where the sounds were coming from, stopping in the doorway when she finally laid eyes on him. He was...in bed with his guitar. Candace blinked and just stared at him. It would be so weird if the guitar was above the blankets...

He had no shirt.

"Jerry..." Please tell me you're wearing pants. No, don't say that. That's a bad idea. Don't say it. Don't say it. Don't ******** say it. "I just...came to--oh my god wh-what happened?!" Why was there blood!? She quickly moved away from the door to get a closer look at Jerry. What the hell happened to his shoulder?! "Oh god Jerry I...I'll go get you some bandages, okay? I'll be, like, five minutes. I'll run. Are you okay? Do you need anything?"

"Stop that." Candace scolded mildly, standing and straightening out her coat. "I'll be back." She left without another word, keeping to her promise and returning as quickly as she could with a small first aid kid she had put together in the infirmary. She was not about to stand by and let Jerry sit around like that.

"Sit up, I'll redress that wound." She spoke in a tone that was not to be argued with, taking off her coat and tossing it onto a nearby chair before sitting on the bed beside Jerry with the kit.

"Jerry, please sit up. You don't have a fear shield right now, you could get an infection." Candace turned to face him better, reaching out to lightly brush her fingers through his hair to move it away from his face. "Please?"

Candace rolled her eyes. I'm tired, I don't feel well, I just want to sleep, I don't want to deal with anything, woe is me. How many times was she going to hear this? She was slowly starting to lose patience for it. The selfishness. She was no stranger to it but...just... "Jerry, we're all tired. Doing this isn't going to make it any better." What he said next made her narrow her eyes down at him. "Don't speak like that. Now sit up, you're better than those kinds of thoughts. You're stronger than that, you don't give yourself enough credit." If he didn't sit up this time she was seriously going to make him sit up. She hated seeing Jerry like this, unhappy and depressed. What had happened? The Jerry she knew was so sweet, so thoughtful, so..happy and optimistic.

"Why are you doing this?"

"Oh and letting yourself get sick is totally a good idea." Candace ruffled her hair a bit. She opened the kit and started to dig through it. Fine. She didn't need Jerry to sit up. She could do this with him laying down. She got to work on cleaning the wound, ready to fight off any attempts Jerry made to push her off. She was not letting him win on this. Candace would let him lay there like a lump but she was not letting him continue on without cleaning this wound and applying new bandages. Seriously, Jerry! You're smarter than this! "We're going to get through this like we always do. We'll get our weapons back and then those things will get what's coming to them." When she was done cleaning she grabbed the bandages. This would be the tricky part with Jerry refusing to sit up.

"Jerry, I love you, but if you don't sit up I'm not going to be sorry if my attempts to wrap these around you hurt." She was being honest. He would have brought it on himself. Candace was okay with people mourning, they had every right to, but she was not going to sit here and let Jerry wallow in self pity again.

Finally! Candace actually sighed with relief when Jerry finally cooperated, wrapping the bandages as neatly and securely as she could. With an actual roll of bandages this wasn't so hard! She clipped it together when she felt he had enough bandaging and put everything away, kicking off her shoes and pulling off her scarf. It seemed she was staying. "What do you mean 'and then what'?" Her tone wasn't unkind, it was genuinely curious. She really wanted to know what he was getting at.
