(Please excuse the lame title, I'll replace it if I think of something better Q AQ)
The trip to Palisade always felt longer than the return journey, partly because both he and Stormstruck carried more goods to it than away, and partly because he dreaded the crowds in the city. This time, nudged by his Guardian, he was taking a slightly different, longer route to get to the city. They passed through fields he didn't recognize, but moving shapes in the distance caught his attention. He hesitated, gauging how much time he had for a little detour, then headed towards them, instead of the city.
At that distance, he'd had to strain, even with his excellent vision, but he was pleased to see that he'd been right. The horses couldn't be wild -- they weren't afraid of him, for one -- but they were strong and healthy, and he offered one his hand, ready to pull back if it turned out to be as snappish as the Guardian standing just behind him. They had to be owned by someone, and he expected that he'd have to go soon, but it didn't hurt to meet the local horses and make a good impression.

Eluf was going about his normal duty's on the large estate that his family owned, doing more than a boy of his caliber needed to, doing it because he wanted to. There was a bit more pep in his usual graceful gait, and his sweet smile was unable to leave his pretty face, the reason for it? He would not tell. Dressed in his usual working attire of cream trousers, knee high black boots, and a blouse that gave him plenty of movement, the young adult made his rounds with the horses out in the field. He'd lead in a beautiful white Arabian mare into the lush green pastures, giving her a light pat to the flank to put her into a trot and join the rest of the majestic beasts grazing. Traveling loyally at his side was the massive guardian of a buck, golden eyes attentive, and sharp, almost like a dog's... or even a humans. Axe scanned the area and the horses that were dotted about, his steps slow as he followed after Eluf who went onward.
Silky curls of auburn hair were loosely tied with a blue ribbon bow to collect the coils over a shoulder. Though a few pesky strands would sneak out and flutter lightly along his fair features, tickling his soft freckles, or grazing a honey green eye. He spoke softly to a few of the horses, stroking a gloved hand along their smooth coats, pushing back the thick locks, or rubbing an ear if the creatures head was low enough.
His attention was drawn away though, as he heard that familiar firm snort from his guardian, causing his earthen eyes to flicker over to the buck curiously, and then to what he was staring at. On the opposite side of their fence was.. a man? And.. was that a guardian as well? For a moment Eluf was surprised, soon followed by a thrilled sensation. He hadn't seen many other guardians before! Only Bell's stag, but she was often busy with the farm, or spending time with the blacksmith. Any matter, his smile grew, causing his little freckles to collect on his soft cheeks while he approached the stranger interacting with one of the prized horses.
Axe took to leading, not trusting any strangers near his chosen, trotting closer to man and his doe with his head high and chest puffed with displeasure. He stopped just before the gate, right beside the horse that was gaining so much attention, staring fiercely at Theron, glancing at his doe, but mostly honed in on him...
"Hello there~" Eluf's gentle voice rang out in greeting, a hand raising to wave to the traveler's, "Do not mind him, he can be a touch grumpy sometimes." an apologetic expression shifts on his face as he gestures to Axe with a glance of his eyes.... to where the stag gives a grunt in response.

Theron heard the Chosen and Guardian well in advance, but since they were moving relatively slowly, he didn't turn just yet. Even though he wasn't fond of social interaction, he wouldn't run either -- that would just look suspicious, and he wasn't doing anything wrong. When they approached, he patted the horse's neck lightly, before he turned to meet the other two. "Good morning," he answered politely, though most of his attention was on the Guardian. He met the buck's gaze with calm, steady blue eyes, neither threatening nor backing down, even as he spoke to Eluf. "I'm Theron. This is Stormstruck." He gave her a silent warning not to bite, and hope she'd listen. The buck might be grumpy, but he wasn't going to be cowed by anyone or anything, Guardians included. Stormstruck let out an unamused snort, but otherwise ignored Axe, approaching Eluf instead to investigate him. She never touched him, and she stayed back enough that she could step back if he tried to touch her -- a compromise between her curiosity and Theron's request that she not accidentally hurt another Chosen.
