 Still a rather youthful lion, Ahadi was all too eager to participate in the Sky Ceremony. He hadn't the year he joined or the one after, but this time he simply wouldn't pass it up! It was friendly competition, and just about anything in the name of sports and enjoyment was the sort of thing he liked.
It amused him immensely that he had been paired up for his first, and hopefully not last, fight with Witu Majani, one of the newcomers in his clan. He knew nothing of the lion and honestly had no idea what to expect, but figured it'd probably go well enough! It's not like he expected this to be an intense, beat-your-opponent-to-a-pulp fight. Ahadi didn't presume it'd be a walk in the park, but he wasn't the sort to worry. Seeming pretty content, he arrived at the designated fighting area and waited for his opponent to show up.

Witu wasn't too much later arriving than Ahadi. He was nervous about going against one of his new clan mates. He didn't want there to be any soreness towards one another after the battle. Witu was all in for the sport and just to see how well he could do. If he was knocked out in his first round he would not be bothered by it at all. It was all in fun for him.
As he arrived Witu came to stand some feet away from Ahadi and faced him. He gave the other male a friendly grin to hopefully show he was not seriously out for blood. "Seems to be a pleasant day for a battle. Shall we get to it?"

So this was the newbie! He looked like a nice enough chap, though maybe Ahadi should be thinking about this a bit more seriously than he was. He nodded, happily, and grinned. "A battle! Alright, I guess that's what it is." Seemed like somewhat dramatic wording to the former Pridelander, but whatever floats the hippopotamus, and all. Figuratively speaking, of course. Hippopotami floated because of fat, right? Anyways.
"I'm ready! You can go ahead."

Witu's HP: 24 (I'll keep up with his HP as we roll)
Witu had never battled another lion before in his life but he had taken on prey animals many times. It had be about the same right? He didn't know but he was gonna give it a try. Why miss out on events in his new pride that could possibly make him some new friends.
"Ok then. Thank you for the oportunity." Witu replied to Ahadi and then he attacked. Witu rushed in towards Ahadi with his claws ready and his teeth bared. He aimed his first strike with his claws for Ahadi's shoulder just to test his agility and get a feel for what the brown lion had up his sleeve.

Whoa! Ahadi was definitely not expecting this to be a, y'know, tooth and claw fight. "Watch the pointy bits!" He had honestly expected a more friendly sort of sparring, as claws and teeth could lead to serious things like... well, blindness. But maybe he should have considered that possibility when he signed up!
Witu did manage to land a glancing blow as Ahadi instinctively backed a couple steps, and he felt the claws scratch him up a little. But very little. He swiped on towards the other male's shoulders and neck, but opted for keeping his claws sheathed. He supposed he didn't mind if the green lion insisted on keeping his out, there weren't actual rules against it, but that was simply not how Ahadi wanted to fight this.

Witu had no idea how these battles were supposed to go down. He just immediately assumed teeth and claws were to be used and went for it. What battles he had seen in the rogue lands had all been with teeth and claws all ready to get a hold of flesh. He really just didn't know any better.
However when Ahadi attacked him and he felt the males paws hit him slightly but no pain really from any claws he took a good look at Ahadi's paws. He realized quickly that Ahadi didn't have his claws out. It wasn't the same kind of battle as he had seen in the rogue lands. That changed Witu's game plan and he sheathed his claws for the next attack.
This time Witu went for Ahadi's front legs and with all his might behind the swipe aimed to swipe Ahadi's front paws out from under him.

Phew, at least that. Now he wouldn't have to worry about pointy little claws in his eyes! But his relief was short lived because soon after, Witu succeeded in knocking his front paws out form under him. While, of course, that didn't make him flip over, it hurt a little, and he very nearly face planted.
It also definitely screwed up his next attack, as his balance was shot and he pushed forwards and could only vainly hoped he actually hit something.

Witu found it easy to avoid Ahadi's attack which was not the best with his balance off. With Ahadi's balance off Witu decided to try and be gutsy with his next attack.
Hoping to catch Ahadi with his balance still off Witu came in and attempted to hit Ahadi on the top of the head with his paw and possibly disorient him a bit more.

Ahadi's HP: 20
Witu would be somewhat underwhelmed by the effect of that attack, as it hit a bit lower than intended. Instead Ahadi felt something hit against his neck, and while it was a strong hit, necks were also stronger than heads. and protected by nice, fluffy manes, in a male lion's case.
He whipped around to try and hit Witu back, and though this time around he was certainly better balanced, the simply fact that he had to make such a turn probably didn't work in his favor.

Witu managed to dodge Ahadi's paws easily. The twist he'd had to do to try and reach him was so visible through Ahadi's body that Witu backed away before Ahadi even had his paws near him.
Now not as close to Ahadi since he'd had to back away Witu used a cub like technique and leapt toward Ahadi's back so he could raise up on his back paws and swat at Ahadi from either side using both paws to do so.

Ahadi's HP: 19
While one of Witu's paws did hit its mark, the other one failed, and ultimately it didn't do much to Ahadi. He was still feeling pretty good, but these small wounds would definitely wear him down eventually! Not wanting to stay behind for too long, he took the opportunity that Witu was reared on his back paws and shot forwards to hit his own against the other male's stomach.

Witu's HP: 21 Witu had left himself wide open without even realizing what he had done. Ahadi managed to hit right on the mark and knock Witu off balance onto his back. He fell over with a thump. It hurt that was for sure but he still had a chance for a shot of his own. Witu used his back feet to kick out towards Ahadi in an attempt to hit him and hoping for a head shot.

Ahadi's HP: 17 In a bit of a hurry to take advantage of his opponent being on his back, Ahadi threw caution to the wind and left himself open to getting kicked in the face. That hurt quite a bit, but it wasn't enough to get him to stop moving. The blow he attempted to deliver with his paws, however, was probably somewhat weakened thanks to the one he had suffered. Opportunity lost, what a shame!

Witu's HP: 20 Witu felt Ahadi's hit with his paws to his sides but it wasn't really all that painful. Trying to get off his back he rolled and at the same time he rolled he swatted at Ahadi. It was a rather feeble swat though and his aim during his roll was just horrible.

Ahadi's HP: 17 Oh good! Another opening. Ahadi could tell this fight wasn't starting out too hot for him, but he was nothing if not stubborn and willing to go on. So he went after the green male as he got back to his feet, and then just kept on going, trying to slam into him, hard, before his chance was gone.
