There was a certain kind of solitude that came with being a cold b***h. It wasn't such a bad thing - she could lose herself in her research, prepare the proposal that she was working on so that the techs could hash out all the technical aspects of the ordeal... it wasn't so horrible, really.

Until she felt a little lonely.

Sasha despised that weakness in herself. It was one that she worked on daily to overcome. There was no room in her life for those bonds - strings-free would be best, but even then... well. It was complicated - and it felt good to be selfish with her own time, at any rate. Easier that way.

Shoving those particular thoughts from her mind, Sasha busied herself with other musings. She could tell that something horrible had happened on this mission - it was obvious by the tablets that the hunters carried. Nona pulsed reassuringly in her mind: Sasha paused and shifted the towels in her arms so she could reach up to touch slender fingers against the barrette at her temple.

<Still here, dove.>

Sasha snorted softly as she walked, arms laden with fresh, clean towels. She hoped she'd given Jerry enough time to get back to his room - if he didn't answer her at his door, well. She'd stack the towels up on the floor and head back to the labs.

It would be interesting to see how he acted if he did happen to open the door. Their last interaction hadn't ended on the friendliest of terms.

She knocked and waited.

Jerry had quietly fumbled back to his room in silence.

It was odd. It had been a year... over a year? Since he had had his thoughts to himself. He had never been cuffed, even with all of his mishaps over his time at Deus, Roar had never been taken away from him. Not like now. The tablet lay on his desk in a careful, deliberate spot as he had gingerly peeled away his mangled and blood soaked jacket. The Moons had replaced the bandages on his shoulder, but without Roar's Fear Shield, the pain of the insanity-dog's maulings was stronger than he had ever felt. He hissed, poking at the fresh dressings to try to see underneath.

He was lucky Roar had mended him as much as he could at the time. This sort of wound on a normal person would have killed him. It still hurt. So many scars. He remembered when he had arrived, bright eyed and optimistic and enthusiastic and the worst scar he had gained during his life was a small one on his leg from that time he had fallen off his bike when he was twelve.

He wasn't sure what to think. He wasn't sure what to feel. Roar would be back, he reminded himself. Roar would be back, Allan said so. This wasn't permanent. He was a Sun.

The sound of the knock at his door made him hesitate before his stomach churned.

Sasha.

His expression hardening, he limped his way to answer it, finally cracking the door open with a rather unfriendly, "What. Come to belittle me some more?"

She hadn't been expecting that. She deserved it, absolutely - but she'd been expecting lip-wibbling and woobly-wibbles and tears. Sasha hadn't been expecting the unfriendly, curt tone, and she hadn't been expecting him to approach the door with that hard look on his face.

Sasha had to admit, it was a pleasant surprise.

Her gaze snapped to the bandages at his shoulder before swiftly zipping back to Jerry's face, seeking his eyes. She held up the towels in silence, dark brows arching just the slightest as she watched him.

Sasha was silent for a long moment before she finally spoke.

"No. I brought you towels."

Her eyes slipped once more to his shoulder.

"You're hurt. Let me in?"

Jerry's expression was calculative before he stepped away from the door, leaving it open so she could do what she wished. What did he care?

He was just happy to not be alone just then, honestly. Even if it was uncomfortable company.

Sasha slipped into the room and leaned against the door, closing it properly. She toed off her shoes, leaving them by the door, before making her way further into the room.

She'd taken note of that expression. It wasn't one he wore often - in fact, had she ever seen it before? With a thoughtful hum, Sasha balanced the towels on the ratty arm of the couch before leaning against the piece of furniture.

This was kind of awkward. She pursed her lips, crossed her arms over her chest.

"Do you need help with that bandage, then?"

"The Moons already changed it when I got back," He answered gruffly, lips pursed at the towels before he turned to head toward the bathroom again.

The apartment was just as stark as ever- to much space and not enough things to fill it. The only real color besides his old battered Little Shop of Horrors poster were the hand-drawn crayon fliers for the Hunter Choir taped up beside it, still there. They had been joined by other notes, scribbled observations, music written on note-book-paper, small, carefully drawn copies of sound waves all side by side in a cluster to fill up the largest of the living room walls.

"Thank you," He added from the bathroom.

What did she want, exactly? She had told him to leave her alone, to stop being himself because she thought himself was stupid. She had made it very clear she thought he was an idiot. Then why was she here now? To mock him? Tease him?

Sasha narrowed her eyes imperceptibly at his response, slender fingers digging just slightly into the towels that were propped against her hip. If he'd asked her what she wanted, if he'd confronted her about her motives, there would have been a loud, deafening silence in response. She didn't really know why she was there - okay... so she knew why she was there and she knew what she wanted, but they weren't reasons that would make sense to him.

They barely made sense to her. She could be else where, she knew it. She could be working on her notes, refining the notes she'd already written. He probably wished she was anyone but her right now. Candace? The other woman, what was her name ... Madeline? Sasha's eyes narrowed as she watched his retreating form, ignoring his thanks for the time being.

As he went into the bathroom, Sasha turned to lean against the arm of the couch. Her silk-clad feet slipped slightly on the floor, and as she caught herself her gaze landed on the tablet on the desk. Pushing off from the couch, Sasha silently padded to the desk, lifting her fingers to ghost over the tablet without really touching the surface.

Her shoulders drooped for just a moment before they straightened impeccably once more. Sasha spun on her heel and moved towards the bathroom, retrieving the towels on the way.

"You're welcome." Her tone was clipped, matter-of-fact. She stopped in the doorway of the bathroom.

"Caelius is dead," He murmured as he sat on the closed toilet to remove his socks, favoring his left arm. Judging by the degree of his wounds and lack of Fear Shield, it would be a while before he could play guitar again.

"I doubt anyone is mourning that loss," Sasha leaned against the doorjamb, watching Jerry struggle with his socks.

There was a quick pause.

"The weapons?"

Roar?
PostPosted: Thu Oct 25, 2012 1:11 pm

Jerry's lips pursed as he stared down at his bare feet, clutching his socks in his good hand. "Remains to be seen," He left it at that.

He wondered if she intended on supervising his whole shower experience. It was a much better dilemma to ponder than anything else of greater importance.

A glance over his shoulder earned him a quick look at what Red had done to his back the year previously, marred, ruined skin branching out in thick cords to cling to the pale flesh below. Bix had had similar scars. They had both been caught in the back.... newbie Suns who had no idea what they were doing except for good intentions....

"Bix is dead, too." Ancestor of Hunters. Died as a Hunter. His stomach churned.

Sasha's expression remained impassive save for the slow skyward lift of her eyebrows. She stared at the web of scars that traced along his jaw and cheek, eyes dipping to once more take in the sight of his bandages.

"I'm sorry."

She hadn't been close to Bix. It was sad that they'd lost a good sun, but there wasn't anything she could say that could reverse the loss of his life, or the loss of the weapons.

Why was she still standing here? She cleared her throat and set the towels down.

"Do you need anything else?"
PostPosted: Thu Oct 25, 2012 4:21 pm

He glanced up to her for a moment, brows furrowed before he finally gently eased himself up to go turn on the water.

What did he need? Nothing she was willing to give him, apparently. He gave a one-shouldered shrug while debating his options.

Why was she here? Did she regret telling him off and telling him to get the ******** out of her life? Maybe. But there was only so much hope left in the man and it was dedicated to the thought that he would one day hear his weapon's voice again.

Sasha just stood there, crossing her arms over her chest as she leaned against the frame of the door once again. It was mildly irritating - irrationally so - that he wasn't talking to her. She'd done horrid things to him, said horrid things - but it was better this way.

She was better this way.

That still didn't mean she had to like it when he ignored her.

Sasha narrowed her eyes.

And waited.

He finally gave an irritated sigh, "What do you want from me, Sasha? You... you t-tell me to <******** off and then you're..." He gesticulated one handedly at her just standing there. "I don't know what you want from me and I just can't.... can't take any more right now, alright? I was- in the fog I thought I saw..." He shook his head, suddenly pretending to be fascinated with the temperature of the water.

She ignored most of what he said. It wasn't until he trailed off that she honed in on what he was saying. What had he thought he'd seen? Sasha wouldn't lie: she was intrigued by what he thought he'd seen. Was it her?

How flattering.

Keeping her expression properly schooled, Sasha gave a low hum as she pushed away from the door frame and slipped closer.

"I don't want anything from you, Jerry."

How far could she push him? Her voice lowered. An almost whisper.

"What did you see?"
