Fleeting Dream kept watch over this sunny patch of land. It was clear and free, the grassed waved carelessly as the wind danced through it. It was peaceful, the way Fleeting liked it. The surroundings were calm and quiet, and it let him drift off to imagine kin playing and running around on that patch of land. It was a subtle bliss he felt, up on his perch over the grassy land below. He liked to observe his surroundings. No kin in sight, his traps were set. More often than not the prey would get away but he was getting better with them. By observing that sunny patch of land, he came to the conclusion that many mice probably lay in wait. Traps would need to be placed, and then he could wait.

A sunny day, a light breeze, and her sisters were off doing other things. So she was forced to find other means of entertainment and enjoyment for the day. As Leader walked about, she noticed an open field. Perfect for running. Leader picked up speed, letting the wind blow through her mane. As she got closer to the field, she noticed a buck standing in the soft grass, looking at the view. Leader slowed down, stopping just behind the buck. "Hi there. what are you doing?"

Someone was running about on the field. This simple information didn't slip past the buck. Fleeting had heard the other approach. He turned slowly, blue eyes set on the female. He looked her up and down for a moment. He hadn't seen much of Kiokote in his lifetime, so this was an interesting sight. When she inquired about what he was doing, he thought for a moment, thinking if he should reply or not. The words came out simply "Observing." For that was all he was doing. Other than waiting for his traps to be set off, he was just... Watching. And enjoying the sun and soft grass. "And you?" He gave the doe the softest of smiles.

Leading the Light looked at the buck, confused. What fun is observing? He seemed a lot like her sister Never Act; never wanting to do much of anything. "Me? I was going for a run, letting the wind flow through my mane. I stopped because i thought you might like to have a race."Leader took a pause before continuing, "Sooo...what are you observing?"

"Race?" No one had ever challenged him to a race before. He didn't race, unless he was chasing prey and even then that was rare. "I don't know if I'll be much of a challenge. I don't race much and..." He trailed off to collect his thoughts. "I doubt I can win a race against you."Fleeting turned his head to survey the land once more. "I was observing the prey and this peaceful field." He turned back to the doe. "And now, I suppose, I'm observing you."

the buck seemed almost appaled that she had asked him to race. She thought it was kind of funny, "How would you know without trying?" Leader gave a look of surprise at his comment about observing her. She couldn't tell if he was just being odd or if he meant something by it. "What is there to observe?"

Fleeting stood there for a moment, eyeing the doe before turning away. "I suppose it wouldn't hurt to try...." He honestly doubted he would be able to surpass the doe, but if it kept her entertained he didn't mind it so much. His glowing blue eyes settled back on the doe. "Isn't there something to observe in everyone?" He did admire her colors and her piercing green eyes. "Isn't it alright to observe you?"

Leader gave the buck a once over. He was kinda handsome. Definitely odd, but still handsome. "I guess you can observe me. But don't do it for too long or you might lose the race."She took a few steps forward to pick a finish line. "How about we race over to that cave down the way?" She turned around to look at him and get a full reaction. "My name is Leading the Light by the way, but you can call me Leader."

Fleeting chuckled some. "I'll try to stay composed." He watched as the Kio picked their end point. A cave was a wonderful destination. He looked it over with bright blue eyes before turning back to the doe. "I think I may be able to handle my own in this race, but I still have some pretty stiff competition."
He bowed his head slightly, still keeping his eyes keep on the doe. "A pleasure Leading. Are you ready to start the race?"
Sarano_Krem Sorry this took forever. >.<

Leader smiled at him, "You sure do, but yes, I'm sure you can hold your own."Leader turned back to look to their finish line. "Of course. I'm always ready." She said as she got into position to start sprinting. Leader spoke steadily enough so that her new friend could prepare himself, "Ready? 3. 2. 1. GO!" With that, she took off, her hooves pushing at the patches of grass underneath them.

"You give me too much credit. How can you say that when you have yet to see my skills?" He gave a faint smile readying himself against his opponent. He waited as she counted down, feeling a twinge of excitement. It was as if he was on a hunt. If he could focus on the destination as if it were his prey, just maybe he could do it. Maybe he could beat the mighty Kio. When Leader shouted go, Fleeting took off after her. His hooves tore at the grassy meadow underneath as he sped after the Kio. Sarano_Krem And then finals ate me. I'm sorry again. I should be more active. Who should win? I'll let you decide. XD

Leading the Light loved a good race and she had high hopes that Fleeting Dream would provide an excellent challenge. maybe she was wrong, but at this point it didn't even matter. There was obviously a mutual attraction, and he had entertained her need of a thrill. Soon the goal could be seen only a few more strides away. Leader dug her small hooves into to the green harder, squeezing an extra couple of inches out of every step. She loved this. The wind flowing through her neck mane, the pumping of her heart, and all the other feelings that came with the run. ashes to the wind hey that's perfectly alright, i had my own finals last week too. and maybe either a neck-and-neck finish or Fleeting just a hair behind her. you can either finish it now with whichever you like more, or pick and have me do that.

Fleeting was giving it all he had. He'd much rather have watched her run, as graceful as Kiokote were. It was very different actually being in the race. Different, but a bit more exciting. As their goal approached quickly, he just tried to push his strides even farther. He was close, but he didn't quite make it. He came in second, just inches behind Leader. He slowed himself to a little gallop before stopping, panting and looking over to her. "It would seem that you beat me." Fleeting gave her a small smile. "Congradulations. It was a pleasure to share this race with you. You were quite the competition."

Leader closed in to the finish line just steps ahead of Fleeting Dream. "Yes!" As she made it to the goal, she trotted in a circle and walked up to the buck. She returned his smile, "So I have." She then got closer to him, "And you were better than you thought you'd be. You certainly gave me a challenge." Leading the Light nuzzled her competitor, "So, what shall we do now?"ashes to the wind all done, just label it finished so we can use it in the breeding form.
