Eeva heard an excited tittering as she dropped down through the undergrowth and emerged into a large dip in the landscape where it seemed the earth had been carved away by a giant paw. She didn't even need to see who the laugh belonged to to know who it was. Her sister had always had that mischievous, playful streak in her and it certainly hadn't faded with age. Even as an adult she acted like a cub - though Eeva would not have her any other way. It did surprise her, though, to see that Laka's companion was the sweet, gentle-mannered Chochokpi. The two of them seemed a rather unlikely pair.
Still, as she approached, the grey lioness was moving away, leaving little Chocho all alone.
"What are you two up to?" She asked as she drew nearer, dropping into a sit next to her friend.
Chochokpi startled at the sound of Eeva's voice as if caught doing something she shouldn't have been. And it was a moment before she responded. "Um, Laka was going to go and introduce herself to--to him." And she pointed her nose in the direction the grey female was going.
"Ah." Eeva replied. "He's a new joiner, isn't he?"
"He is. Laka wanted to hear his stories from the rogue lands. I told him a lady shouldn't bother him, especially not today but she wouldn't listen." The white female folded her ears back against her head and gave Eeva a worried look.
"Laka very rarely does." Eeva replied with a laugh. "Don't worry, the worst that he can do is say no." Her tail twitched and she turned back to see her sister sauntering over to the brown male.
Laka, meanwhile, was closing in on the brown male, her eyes bright with interest. Her tail swayed behind her as she rounded across to him and - eventually - when she was close enough, called out a cheerful: "Hello!" Bouncing around into his sight, she continued on: "I'm Laka Subiani of Shadow Clan! Welcome to the Ela'wadiyi! Do you need some company? If so I'm free!" She gave him her biggest and most cheerful smile.

The male in question was Maraba Edi. While rogue life had certainly brought some excitement, it was also populated by plenty of down time, and as such he was an accomplished lounger. That's what he was doing now, getting accustomed to his new homelands by relaxing against a rock after a few hours of chatting and introducing himself to members of the Earth Clan.
He noticed Laka's approach, but politely kept his eyes away on the off-chance that she might get bashful, or something. He looked distractedly into the distance, until she close enough to greet him and confirm that she was, indeed, coming over to talk! Maraba Edi liked talking, particularly to members of his new pride, so he didn't mind in the least. "Hello!" He replied, smiling easily.
"I think I'd be a fool to turn down the company of such a lovely lady." He dipped his head politely. He wasn't trying to flirt at all, especially since she seemed rather young. He just thought ladies deserved compliments, and to be treated right. "Thank you for the warm welcome! I'm Maraba Edi, from everywhere. But now I belong to the Earth Clan. It's a pleasure to meet you, Laka."

Bashful was one thing that Laka was certainly not. She loved to talk almost as much as she loved adventuring and when the opportunity arose she would take it without a moment's hesitation. Although, with that in mind, she did seem a little sheepish at his compliment - after all it wasn't every day that someone called her a 'lovely lady'.
"Earth Clan!" She echoed. "That's wonderful! I don't think I have a friend from that clan yet so you can be the first, okay?" She blinked up at him as if trying to win him over to the idea. "It's nice to meet you too, Maraba Edi! I was just wondering whether you had any stories to tell! I don't get to meet too many rogues, you see, and I do love to hear the tales of all their grand adventures." She wasn't sure exactly why she had picked him out of all of the others. Perhaps because he hadn't already been fully involved in a conversation. Or maybe it was the stark pelt he bore. The striking, unmarked brown fur had certainly drawn her eye.
"I've been out to the rogue lands once, you see, when I was a little younger. I haven't been back out since, though, and I'm not sure when I'll get another chance. I went with a friend before but he was from outside the Ela'wadiyi and he hasn't been back to visit since we parted ways." She had actually been quite upset by that though she had never once shown it.

He sat up into a more polite, but still overall relaxed position, thoughtfully pursing his lips. "I'll see about your case. I'll be your friend if you're cool." He replied, with a good-natured smile and wink. Clearly he did not object to the idea of being her friend, despite his words. Why would he had come here if he didn't want to meet and befriend people?
The fact that she waned to hear stories was definitely good by him! Though his wandering days were now behind him, Maraba Edi would always recall his adventures fondly. "So you want a story? I'd be happy to comply." He chuckled. "I've got all kinds, scary ones, funny ones, crazy ones. Any sort you have in mind?" He was certain he could pick one out in any genre, though even he would feel a little awkward telling a girl like Laka about any of his romantic ventures.
"Afterwards, I think it's fair you tell me of your adventures!" He said, once he'd learned she had gone out.

"Oh I am totally cool, I can promise you that." She grinned, her eyes sparking with joy. Yes, this one was good friendship material. Laka was certain of that. She was even more impressed when he asked what kind of story she would like and listed off a few of them. "Wooooow." Her eyes were wide. "So much choice! I wish there was more time so I could hear them all. You must, must, must get some of the stories tattooed."
And she puffed up her chest and gave a little nod. "I'm sure it won't be as good as your story but I definitely have one to share."
And then, at last, she seemed to remember that she hadn't been alone. "Oh, wait a moment! I need to call my friend over." And she turned back to see Eeva there too. "Oh and my sister! We all love stories!" And, without even checking to make sure he was comfortable with an audience, she called out. "Chocho! Sis! Come and join us! He does have stories!" Then she turned back, all smiling and wide-eyed. "I'd like to hear a scary story but I'm not sure if my friend will like that."
"Scary?" White-pelted Chochokpi practically squeaked as she sidled up next to her friend.
Eeva, the eldest of the three, gave an amused laugh. "Hello there. Sorry for barging in like this. Laka there is my little sister. I'm Eeva Subiani and this is my friend Chochokpi Galvlati."
"Okay, okay." Laka rushed. "And his name is Maraba Edi in Earth Clan."
"Do you have any stories about...about a prince rescuing his princess from danger?" Chochokpi asked. It was no secret that she dreamed of finding her own 'prince' someday just like all proper ladies should.
"Ew. No." Laka stuck out her tongue. "Please say you haven't."

He smiled at the idea, but found it unlikely he'd manage to get many of them tattooed, one reason being no one could really verify the validity of his tales. Still, maybe some day he'd get a few! "Mmm, yeah, time my be a problem." Maraba acknowledged with a nod. He had been a rogue for years, and had many adventures! "So I guess we best get started!" He grinned, and that was when she mentioned a friend. And then a sister!
He wasn't a shy sort, but was a little surprised by this sudden audience. He laughed and nodded. "No worries!" He replied to Eeva, he did not mind the 'intrusion' at all. "A pleasure to make your acquaintance!" The male dipped his head politely. Maraba loved company! It was a wonder he had never considered settling down somewhere until recently.
"Nay, sorry. Afraid I don't have many prince stories. 'M not a prince, you see, but I've met a few." But it did seem like his audience had differing opinions on what sort of story they wanted! "How about a compromise? I've got an exciting story, and there's some heroic rescuing in it too, if I do say so myself."

What a charming fellow!
The girls all seemed equally pleased by his enthusiasm to share stories with all of them and began to settle themselves down to listen; three pairs of inquisitive eyes focused on him. Chochokpi's eyes went wide when Maraba admitted to having met a few princes and she wriggled forwards - clearly about to ask him all about them.
Perhaps, then, it was all well and good that Laka predicted this and saw fit to intervene. "That sounds like a perfect story!" She agreed, liking this compromise so far. "I hope it was you doing the rescuing!" The lioness was practically bouncing with excitement, her pale blue tattoos only just visible in the sunlight. "Okay, everyone be quiet now. He's going to start."
And, at last, the girls did fall silent. If they were nothing else they were certainly an avid audience.
