Takoda had been mending a hold in his cloak that he had managed to acquire through trading his healing magic. The people here seemed to really appreciate his gift as well, though he couldn't go as fall as calling it a 'gift'. The awfully modest shifter would only flush and feel uncomfortable with all the attention an often shrugged off the compliments and a lot of the things offered to him as payment. One particular elder forced the cloak upon him and so he accepted it with much stuttering of thanks.
Sitting cross legged he mended the small tear that had formed already when he had caught it on a rock hiding in the snow. The fabric was tough so the rip was only superficial, but it had been such a touching gift he had to fix it. The cold though made sewing rather interesting, as his fingers often went numb and he would have to warm them over the fire before continuing .
As he sewed he thought on Jacinthus, their shared kiss...their bodies close together and felt himself blushing. Swallowing he went to put his sewing equipment away before he looked over his patch work noting that he wasn't nearly as good as his mother, but certainly a lot better than his father at the job.

Shield on his back, not wanting to carry it since his hands were aching a bit just as the rest of him was, the guard known as Chalcedony was heading back to where the rest of the Shifters were, wanting nothing more then to run down his friend, to make sure that the Leaf Tribesman was lying about all of his claims, and talk his friend into coming home with him if he hadn't been lying. He couldn't be thinking of going to Tale for real, could he? Why would he want to? There really wasn't much to Tale from what he'd seen on their way through it from Jauhar to Sauti, so why would he want to go there? Instead they should just be going home... but then again he supposed he could understand why he wouldn't want to go home, there wasn't really much there for him other then people that picked on him for his fear of bugs, people that Chal didn't much care for when it came to their attitudes. Of course with people like that around Takoda would want to go somewhere else. Chal just didn't want him to.
It was selfish of him he supposed... he probably should just let Takoda go, especially if he actually wanted to go to Tale with that person... giving a little sigh he found himself glancing around the camp, wondering if he might be able to find Takoda. Maybe his friend would give him a little bit of healing? Would it be bad of him to ask for that when it was Takoda that he was fighting for? Especially when that Leaf Tribe Archer was out there somewhere just as roughed up as he was... and on top of all of that healing wasn't exactly the easiest thing in the world for Takoda to do, he didn't want to ask him to do something so draining because he'd been out picking fights with someone from another tribe. Making a bit of a face he found his gaze falling into Takoda and he drifted over toward him, unable to resist. He really did want to at see him, say hi, and even if he didn't get a healing he could at least maybe get his side of things? If he really wanted to go was it really his place to try to hold him back even if he did like him? It was one of those things that was a little difficult in his mind, he didn't want to part ways with Takoda forever but suddenly it seemed as though that might happen and it left him a little cold.
As he got closer to his friend, who seemed to be sewing calmly, it was almost difficult to believe that what he'd seen had really happened. It was a bit of a bother, to find out that he'd lost Takoda to someone that he didn't even know he was competing with. Giving a little sighing sound he remained for the most part quiet as he watched the Healer, trying to decide what he wanted to do next.

Takoda almost seemed to sense that there was someone hurt in the area, he felt a strange prickling on his skin as he went to put his cloak around his shoulders and his gaze went up searching for the person man or woman who was in pain. It didn't take him long since that person was heading in his direction and his eye's widened as he spotted the shifter, looking rather battered and having seen better days.
It took only moments for the man to abruptly stand up the cloak dropping off his shoulders as he strode towards Chalcedony. His hands lightly touched on all of the various wounds on his shield carrying friend. Takoda looked up at him, as if not sure what to say or if he should ask, but it took no prompting to take his friends hand to drag him towards the fire before asking him to sit in a quiet voice.
Tying up his hair as he found it could get in the way, he already had summoned water magic to his fingers and began to massage it into his wounds. It was a couple of minutes as he worked, concentrating his eyebrows furrowing as he worked on his arms first, then his chest. It was while he was on the abdomen the shifter finally seemed to find a voice.
"What...happened to you Chal? Did a animal get you?" He inquired wondering if there was some huge beast out there...laying in wait.

Chal watched the Healer for a long moment, giving a bit of a jump when he was suddenly spotted. It didn't take Takoda more then a moment to get to his feet, his cloak falling to the ground, and hurried over to him to look his wounds over. He really was sweet, wasn't he? It was because of that reason that he worried so much over that damn Leaf Archer taking him away, he just didn't trust him all that much... if anything he just wanted to keep Takoda at his side, to keep him safe, keep visiting with him and going places with him. Were he to go to Tale that would end, wouldn't it? Especially if he ended up with that archer.
Giving a bit of a jolt he was pulled out of his thoughts when the water that was associated with Takoda's Healing powers touched his skin. He watched as the other set about healing him and he gave the best smile he could, "You really don't have to do that." He murmured, not feeling as though he quite deserved it if he were in fact picking a fight with someone that Takoda wanted to leave Jauhar and the Shifters for... but at the same time he had felt justified during the fight, having been goaded into taking the first swing and was only too happy to take all of the ones that followed, "Thank you though, it feels a lot better." He added, as much as he didn't deserve to be patched up he had to admit that it felt a lot better and made it a lot easier for him to move around. He really hadn't thought that he would be doing much in the way of moving about for a bit given how sore he'd been left. At least now he could rejoice in the fact that he was allowed to get healed up while that other idiot was left sore and aching.
"Huh? An animal? I suppose at the time he was a bit like one." He muttered, glancing away for a moment, then back again and lifted a hand up to pat Takoda lightly on the head, something that he did quite off, then gave a little sigh, "I should make it though, thanks."

Takoda wasn't going to stop just because Chalcedony asked him too, giving him a look like a scolding mother may, he pushed aside hands that would try and stop him and continued to work on healing. Sweat would begin to trickle on his forhead as he worked, though he did pause when the mention of 'he was a bit like one'.
"He? did you get in a fight with someone? Oh Chal...did he start it?" He inquired trying not to jump to conclusions but he couldn't exactly picture the shield baring one to start a fight. At...least not for a good reason anyway. Just trying to picture his friend in a senseless fight just seemed..wrong. No way Chal would get caught up in something light that.
"Chal I hope you didn't get in a fight with one of the other tribes...I mean ..I know the groups are on edge with each other..but shouldn't we try and get along?"

Chalcedony's cheeks gave a bit of a flush as Takoda asked him if he had gotten in a fight with someone else, then asked if the other guy had started it, "I... ahhh... it was a mutual thing." He said, glancing off to one side. They had been kind of going back and forth, baiting each other, and it had gotten violent rather quickly due to what it was that they were fighting over. Shifting in place he said, "The weight of what happened falls upon both of our heads I guess, can't really say that one of us or the other exactly started it." Well, maybe he had since he was the one that confronted the archer and told him to back off and to get lost... but really, after his confronting of him it then became a two way thing.
His flush seemed to get worse when the other said that he hoped that he didn't get in a fight with one of the other tribes, that they should try to get along, "Sorry, I will... endeavor to get along with the others a little better if possible." He muttered, of course Takoda would be telling him to get along with the other tribes given that he was getting along with them perhaps a little too well... damn Leaf Tribe, and here Chal had always thought that the biggest threat to his piece of mind was those Alkidike women. To think that it would be a Leaf Tribesman that would really get under his skin and cause him to take a swing in a manner that the women had never been able to do. It was rather strange for sure... but again, given what the two of them were fighting over he doubted that either of them were really thinking about tribal relations at the time or what their fist fight might result in. Whoops.
"Well... he doesn't seem the sort that would go crying to his tribe leader about it, so it should be alright." He said, hopeful that it was true. He didn't think the guy would have him called out for what he did and in turn he didn't mean to go to the Shifter's elder either.

The looked Takoda gave him was of one that was ..confused. Two people mutually wanting to beat on each other? It baffled him. Still he slowed down his healing as he got to Chalcedony's face. Part of him wanted to hug his friend, tell him everything would be okay. Maybe he could go and apologize to other one. Maybe even heal them since if they were beaten up as much as Chal was...well they could use some extra healing help.
"Thank you Chal..I find it rather baffling you got into a fight in the first place...I mean..I can see if happening if your family was in trouble..but...really.." He chastised the shifter as he finally went to touch Chalcedony's face, lightly working his magic on the worst parts.
"He.....?" He left the right of the question hanging, after all it wasn't like he knew everyone in the other tribes and for all he knew Chal may not know the guys name. Though that seemed even stranger...Chal having a fight with someone he didn't know the name of. "So...is something on your mind...?" Takoda inquired wondering if there was a reason to spark the fight Chal had.

"I... try not to start fights, I do... I don't really like throwing my weight around in a manner like my father might but... I just... what was said, I guess it stung a little." He murmured as Takoda's hands brushed against his face, the magic having a rather soothing feeling to it. It was a nice feeling, to have Takoda so close, but at the same time it stung because he felt as though he'd already lost. It was that archer that he cared for, wasn't it? So much so that he was going to go to Tale with him. Did he even mean to tell anyone? Was he just going to slip away into the night with his foreign lover?
When the other seemed to be questioning him about who it was he debated on what it was he should say. Should he tell him who it was that he was fighting with? Would he be mad? Would he not want to talk with him anymore? Then again it was already going to be like that, he was going to Tale with the man and Chalcedony might never see him again. Should he try to do something, say something, should he stand up and fight for Takoda? Or should he stand by quietly, let Takoda go, and just head back to Jauhar to where his family was waiting for him. It was... well, it was a rather lonely thought to be honest. He wanted to see his family again, of course, that much was obvious, but the idea that he might never see Takoda again because he went to live in Tale with strangers...
When the Healer was suddenly asking him if something was on his mind he lifted his gaze, then caught hold of Takoda's hands, pulling the smaller Shifter closer to him before asking, "Why couldn't it have been me?"

Takoda was still trying to figure things out, after all Chalcedony seemed to be seriously wounded and not physically but more emotionally. He had to wonder just what it was this other person had said to him that would cause him such hurt. It wasn't until he found himself being pulled towards Chalcedony and his hands held onto that is really sunk home.
In a stunned silence he felt his face redden, feeling very stupid to not realize he had...by kissing Jacinthus hurting his very dear and close friend. Why was he so oblivious? Takoda had never anticipated having two people like him at the same time, he figured having one person was a miraculous enough. Now...all those feelings he had sorted through in his head about Jacinthus seemed...almost trivial. He didn't deserve anyone if he just ended up hurting those he cared about.
"I.." The word was stuck in his throat, as if unwilling to come out, he tried to clear his throat but found himself just wanting to cry. The healer hadn't meant to hurt Chalcedony so badly, he should of clued in on his feelings, like when they had laid together in the forest his sheer ignorance to romance and love made him a terrible person.
"I..i...I'm s..so..orry...I.." The poor little shifter didn't know what else to say, what could he say? He had no reason why he didn't 'choose' Chalcedony over Jacinthus. Heck he didn't even realize Chal had felt that way about him. Even apologizing felt like he was just adding another wound to the shield bearer. Tears sprung out of the corner of his eyes, and he tried to pull his hands away if weakly so he could wipe them away.

Chalcedony gave a soft, sighing sound when he saw the pain flood Takoda's features, wishing instantly that he could take the words back, wishing he hadn't let on that he knew or that he had wanted what the archer had been given, "I'm sorry... that wasn't fair." He murmured, he didn't meant to wound him, should have been his mouth shut, Takoda had made his decision after all but at the same time a voice in his head was telling him to fight. He shouldn't just given Takoda to that foreigner, that he had just as much right to let his feelings be known, now was the only chance he had at it before Takoda was gone, off to Tale, and he would never see him again...
As he felt his friend withdrawing from him he gave a gasp and tried to catch hold of him, "No... Takoda, please don't go yet..." He whispered, knowing that if he let him go that he would be gone. He couldn't allow that to happen, he had to hold tight, had to keep him from running back to the archer, if that happened it would all be over. A part of him knew that it wasn't his place or his choice, that he couldn't hold him against his will, but another part of him didn't like the idea of just giving up. It was a mess of emotions, ones that were quite mixed up, "I... I know you are going to leave, that you are going to Tale... I know you want to go there but... I just..." What was it he should say? That he didn't want him to go? That he should stay with him? That he could protect him as well as any Leaf Tribe archer could? He wasn't sure what he should say, as such his words just seemed to trail off as he held tight to the Healer who was trying to leave his side.

Takoda felt his resistance fade as rapidly as it had come, so he continued to sit there with Chalcedony in front of him as tears dripped down the sides of his face his hands held captive by his good friend. Who could of been more...but he had already made his decision. Hadn't he? It was unfair to Jacinthus if he suddenly was having second thoughts, and now he just desperately wish he could go hide in a hole and let everyone forget about him. Takoda never understood what people saw in him and now having two people interested made him..nervous.
Stroking Chal's hand with his thumb he tried to find words of reassurance.
"I...I won't be far Chal, but I could have a new start in Tale...they don't have giant bugs there...people won't pick on me for that..Ja...ah..well he said I could be helpful there with my water magic. I can come visit often, and I promised your sister I would come back remember? I am not going to vanish." He tried to reassure his friend though he wondered if he was being honest. No..he was, after all he couldn't just abandon his home, the one he grew up in. Actually he would have to discuss some things with Jacinthus, for one ..he wasn't sure if he could...just ...up and leave Jahaur forever. And..well he had no idea if the guys sister was going to be ...very welcoming.

Chalcedony leaned forward, resting his head against Takoda's shoulder for a moment, eyes squeezing shut as the other spoke about how he wouldn't be far, that he would have his new start in Tale, that they would find him and his powers useful there, and many other things. He promised to return though... and it had him wondering if it was something he wanted. Did he really want Takoda to come back? To have to listen to him as he talked about his new life in Tale with his Leaf Tribe lover? If anything that just made his hands itch to beat that archer b*****d's face in even more... but he knew he couldn't do that, he didn't want to hurt Takoda after all just because he was jealous. I was his fault after all, he hadn't said anything and as such he'd allowed the Leaf Tribesman slip in like some sort of thief and take Takoda away both from Chalcedony and from Jauhar itself.
Lifting his head slowly he gave a smile, "You don't have to promise me that you will come back, Takoda." He murmured, lifting a hand up to stroke it against his cheek, "Instead... instead I want you to promise that you will be happy, alright? That is what I want to hear." He wanted to know that the b*****d that took Takoda would make sure that he was happy, that he would keep the bugs away, that he would chase off those that would tease Takoda, if he could do all of that then... then he would allow this. Even if he never saw Takoda away it would be worth it then, knowing that Takoda was happy would make Chalcedony happy... even if he was a little jealous that it wouldn't be him making the healer happy.
Reaching a hand out he patted it against Takoda's head in a manner he seemed to do often before he said, "Keep this in mind though, if he makes you cry I will find out, I come to beat him up, and I will toss you over my shoulder and carry you back to Jauhar, got it?" He wouldn't let the Leaf Tribesmen, or anyone else for that matter, make Takoda cry. Hell, he felt guilty enough that he had made him cry. Leaning in he kissed each of Takoda's cheeks lightly to help him to get rid of the tears before he drew back, determined that from here on out he would be just a friend, no matter how much it ached for him to become only that.

Feeling the weight of the shifter's head on his own...he couldn't help himself but try and comfort him like his mother use to. A hand went up hesitantly and began to stroke his hair, it felt like the right and wrong thing to do. Right because it was a comforting gesture, wrong because it could be mis-read as a feelings for the shield barer. Takoda chewed on his lower lip when Chalcedony told him not to make any promises to him and some part of that hurt him.
"But..." He started only to be interrupted by Chal again who asked that he promise to be happy. Takoda wasn't sure if this could be possible with this weight of guilt on his heart. But he would have to try for Chalcedony and Jacinthus's sake.
As the shifter drew away he felt his heart sink, missing that warmth and touch almost instantly. Was he making a mistake? Takoda hated that he kept second guessing himself. No he didn't make a mistake, but he still felt terrible for what he was putting his friend through.
Trembling slightly he nodded his head slowly, though the others last comments were probably lift his spirits he hardly felt like he could smile at this point.
"You make this...sounds like we will never see each other again...a good bye that will be eternal...Please Chal..cedony.. don't do that. I want to see you and your lovely family again...I...don't want you to be cut out of my life completely...I know this is selfish of me to ask...but..."

Chalcedony wanted to agree with Takoda, to tell him that what he was asking was selfish, but instead he forced a smile, "Perhaps. I am sure they would want to meet with you again." He murmured, as much as he really wanted to say otherwise, feeling that he needed time apart from the Healer, he knew it wouldn't be too nice of him to actually say that. He would just have to make his own way home, instead of heading out with Takoda and those that would be traveling with or the other Shifters. He wanted some time alone, be able to catch his breath, heal his heart, and just otherwise ready himself for what was to come.
Giving his fellow Shifter a smile he said, "Come on, now need to look like you are going to cry, Takoda." He murmured, wanting to help his friend to perk up a bit, not wanting to see him get all upset, not wanting to see him look like he might cry. If anything it just made him want to hug him... but he wondered, would that be awkward? Would it look like he was trying to cross a line when he wasn't? He had no idea really, but decided that it was best to err on the side of caution. He had already had it out with the thief of hearts from the Leaf Tribe, from here on out he needed to keep in mind that he hadn't been the one to win Takoda's heart and he wasn't going to try to steal him back. He wanted for Takoda to be happy after all and trying to battle against the archer for him... he knew that wouldn't make Takoda happy at all. Making him happy, that meant trying to figure out a way for them to become friends once more instead of awkward.
"How about we see about getting something to eat, Takoda?" He suggested, it was always nice to sit down with a friend for a good meal, right? It would be a good first step toward some sort of normalcy between them. At least he hoped so, Chal couldn't say he was too good at this sort of thing.

Takoda wish that the smile the Chalcedony was giving him was true. But he could almost see how ....forced it was, just by reading the lines on his face, the crease of his brows the sadness in his eyes. Taking a breath he counted back from ten to try and make sure he didn't cry again. Not wanting to make things more awkward for the other anymore than it already was.
Unable to read the other shifters mind he was a bit caught off guard when Chalcedony suggested they find something to eat. It took him a moment to realize that Chal was ...trying to make things seem normal again, and Takoda appreciated it though still felt that pang of sadness in his chest. Instead of voicing it though he nodded his head, trying to offer up a small smile for the other.
"Y..e..yes...food sounds like a good idea." Takoda started though his rations were dwindling he would have to make sure that he got more before he left on his journey home. "Should ...we go...catch something?"
