[This is a semi-private solo rp for myself about Sapphire's capture. Anyone else is by invitation only, and is written in a bit of a "diary" format, as it will span some time indicated in posts.]

[Day One - The Deceit]

It had been two days, two wonderful days since she'd come into the company of the great beast Lon...as she was told to call him. He'd been so nice as they walked along side by side; for he was going to show her a mystical pond which he'd said could cure almost anything.

"It can really cure Sapphire's curse? Oh joy oh joy would that be!" The tiny mare felt like she could jump for joy, then she could make her way back to her family! "Sapphire's walks will be done, and family she can go!" Her eyes lit up like well...sapphires glittering in the rays of sunlight, despite it was early in the evening and the sun had long slipped past the hills.

"That's right.." Smooth, deep vocals called to the little mare, a wicked grin crossing his dark maw as he began to blend effortlessly into his surroundings. "The magic will make all your crazy float away..." Lon continued to move, knowing it was all going exactly to plan. The little secluded pond was in an old and strange cropping of rock which looked like it had collapsed down into the ground. Steep walls to this little patch of woods made it impossible for any with hooves and without wings to escape from.

This would be the perfect spot for his experiment.

"However, my dear friend, we will have to fly down into it."

"Sapphire can fly! Fly well she can!" Looking up, she didn't register the smirk on his face as nothing but a happy smile. What a nice fellow this mister was, and she didn't shy away from showing it. "Mister is Sapphy's bestest best friend! Sunshine to the birds!" She nearly chirped, when she could see part of the forest finally give off to a rounded ledge...this must have been the place he spoke of. "Is it here???"

Reaching the edge at the same time as his companion, the male nodded his head and glanced her way while spreading his wings. "It is here, dear best friend.." He humored her, effortlessly walking off the edge to soar down into the enclosure, into the home which she would know till she too slipped from this earth. He looked back to see her following him without hesitation, without any kind of conscious telling her otherwise this wasn't such a good idea or even to be weary. This is going to be too easy... Lon thought wistfully, landing with a thud on the ground as the mutant Angeni couldn't be heard as her own hooves pressed against the grass. "This way...." He coaxed, pressing his nose against her flank to draw her forward towards the pond.

As they moved along, sure enough as promised the pond came into view as Sapphire kept her excitement dulled only enough so he wouldn't get impaled in the leg by her tail. For the tiny mare she was, it took all her strength not to bound into the water and frolic in utter glee.

This was it....she would rid herself of this curse passed down from her Grandma, and would go back to tell her beloved relatives of this place. They could all be cured! All be happy! All be the normal they wanted to be! "Sapphire is...so happy! Happy Happy Happy!" She yelled in bliss, looking up to Lon with a beaming smile. "Sapphy thanks Mister friend! Mister friend will have to come have play time with family! Thanks will be for you!" She chirped once more.

"Oh, thats not necessary. Go ahead...jump in. All your dreams will cease to be....and all you will be left with is reality." Oh, how enjoyable was it to say the truth, right to the mare's face and have her take it all with a sunny disposition. Her dreams would be gone alright....for she would never leave this place. Never have to worry or hope or dream.

For here...was the end of all that free spirit. .

Escaping from the pushing of Lon the little mare ran into the pond which went up to her back, splashing and submerging her head under the cool and chilly waters lit up only by the moon hanging above. She remained under for as long as she could before bursting her head out of the water and standing once more. Oh! This was it! She could feel her body quiver with the waves of change and as she waited for what she could only have imagined a spark of a new life ahead.....there was nothing.

Waiting, and waiting....and nothing happened.

Looking down at herself, even flexing her wings out and seeing if anything had changed at all...she noticed everything about her was still the same. All the way to the jumbled and messed up thoughts in her head. "S....Sapphy is still Sapphire. Friend friend...did it work?" She turned in the water and walked out slowly till she was up to her ankles. "Sapphy still feels like sapphy?" Sadness lingered in her tones...maybe, maybe the water wasn't blessed enough? This thought quickly diminished, when the abrupt laughter erupted from Lon....the laughter for the first time...didn't sound so kind.

"You must be stupid." He sneered, taking a step forward while looking her straight in the eyes. "No...you are stupid. Didn't your parents teach you never to trust strangers, especially if you are so deranged?"

"Mister....friend?" Sapphire felt the stare strike a chord of fear into her heart, a fear she felt once before when she'd seen the same Kalona who continually tried to kill her family. The look of terror and utter anger in her mother's eyes had never left her even amidst all the crazy. "S...Sapphire thinks...she should go home." Home to where she was loved, despite the hindrance she had on her family.

"Oh you reject....you are never leaving this place. Unless you die, and your soul floats off. Do you understand, YOU ARE NEVER LEAVING." He roared out, charging the small mare as she screamed in fright, his body smashing against hers to toss her back into the water on her side. Thrashing under the surface she struggled to get up back to where she could breathe when powerful jowls closed painfully around her neck and dragged her body out from the pond. Sapphire felt like she was choking, even as she was no longer in the water with his teeth clamping down on her windpipe. Kicking and trying to scream with her eyes wide with fear; she could see the sinister look in her 'friends' eyes. With a snarl in his throat, she saw his hoof come up before it came down on her wing and she could hear a sickening crack before her body writhed in pain.

Releasing her neck, Lon stood above as a sinister shadow, watching the mare as her small frame shook from shock of all the pain he'd brought. Only a few gasping moments passed before she screamed and cried in agony, choking on the very air she craved as her body didn't know how to process what had happened and was left a quivering mess. Leaning down, he knew the night was still young and chaos swirled dangerously in his eyes while his tail crackled with power. "This....this is only the beginning. Every day, you will come to realize this is your fate. There is no one coming to save you. Your parents are finally free of having to deal and put up with you every day. They are free...free of your curse. The only escape you will have is in your death. I will give you one friendly tip. Often one can will themself to die...I suggest you start now since you're too ******** stupid otherwise to get any immediate results." He whispered, as her screams of horrific pain died down to quiet sobs of wracking agony.

"F...f...rien....d..." She gasped between breaths, only to flinch as he stomped his hoof on the ground hard.

"I am NOT your friend!" He hissed, lashing down to bite her back leg - hard enough to draw blood and agony. Lon released her and stood, stomping the ground once more as his angry stare bore into her. "Now, crawl yourself into that cropping of rock and you stay. If I catch you out of that spot, there will be hell to pay. I won't kill you though...oh, that would be easy." He laughed cruely, smirking wildly. "You wanted a cure....you'll get what you wished for." Death would be her answer, and he could give it.

Despite the condition of her body, Sapphire looked up with tears streaming down her face as she shook in utter fear. She summoned all her strength despite the limp wing and now leg to drag her body under the slight protection of the cropping of rock above. As the large dark beast walked into the small woodland around them, she curled into herself as she leg her sobs wrack her chest.

"Daddy....Mommy..." She weeped, amongst the sobbing in complete pain which burned all over her body. Never before had she wished so feverishly for someone...anyone to find her and save her. But she'd run away...who knew if her parents were mad and not going to come look for her for her mistake. Perhaps...they believed she would just return when she was ready, and that thought scared her more than anything he'd said.

Maybe....they wouldn't come, and Sapphire would never see them again.

Breaking into new sorrowed sobs, the mare lay in her spot obediently till minutes became hours...and she too cried herself to sleep under the haunting eye of Lon and his ill intent.

[ Day Four - The Hunger ]

Cracking her tired eyes open to the welcoming darkness of night, Sapphire looked around as her body ached from being curled against the rocks for the better of four days. It had been long since she'd gotten up, at least a day as her body struggled to heal; the bruises she knew around her neck were gone, but the scabbing of her leg and the throbbing of her wing remained a constant reminder.

A constant fear which drove her to just lay still.

However as time slowly crept past her the growling of her stomach reminded her with a starving growl that she hadn't eat at all. Poking her head out from under the croft of rock she looked around, noting her captor was no where in sight. However, she wanted to make sure she was not out of line, so she dragged her body out of the cropping and remained for a moment or two....waiting, watching....

Yet there was nothing.

"Mister....gone?" She breathed on a raspy voice, before slowly and painfully standing to her hooves. Her wing remained limp and throbbing, as she anticipated for a while to come. Even as her hooves treaded lightly on the grass towards the pond, she could feel her skin crawling. Sapphire had made it, and was quick to gulp the water as quickly as she could while shuddering by how wonderful it felt trailing down her parched throat. Flicking her eyes skyward she couldn't see trace of the dark stallion and as instinct decided she needed to eat and quickly. Who knew when he would be back and if this was something she was not allowed to do. Nosing around for fresh dew grass amongst the fall leaves she ripped and pulled at the grass, feeling her stomach quell its demands.

Yet...she was not alone. Lon watched diligently from the cliffs above, his eyes trained on her every move. "So...she still clings to hope by eating. Foolish, it will just prolong the experiment." He chuckled to himself, licking his lips as he'd just finished with a meal of a deer as his tail crackled behind him. He'd watch as she cracked, dissolved, and finally, broke. Will was something so profound, and even in his olden days never thought too much on survival, perseverance....it was all fruitless in the presence of chaos. Besides, predators were all to quick for a meal...but that was not what he was after. It was absolutely fascinating and he wanted to draw in every moment of struggle. He would learn, and he would be all the wiser to truly...making nightmares here in the lands.

"You still humor yourself with such trivial tasks?" Lon's loud vocals carried out in the night, causing the small mare to flinch visibly and snap her head up with wide, frightened eyes. She slunk down, as instinct began to control her actions; she didn't want to be hurt again and dipped her head low while watching him.

"N..no...no mister. Just do, just do....no escape!" She pleaded, taking a few shaky steps backwards.

"Or maybe....you need a reminder of what is expected?" He stood up from his laying spot and flared his wings out with a menacing growl before leaping down into the dropped landscape. Sapphire let out a startled whinny, nearly tumbling over herself as she raced for the cropping with a sore leg. There was no hesitation to throw herself into its 'safety' as she roughly smacked her head against the rocks in the process and felt the small scratches she got burn in pain. Whimpering she flinched once more and curled into herself as he landed, walking over to the cropping and leaning his head down only slightly.

"See...." He purred out smoothly, his wings folding back against his spine. "This is where you belong. I am always around...always watching. Even if you can't see me, don't think i'm not keeping track of you. If you try to escape...i'll hunt you, and that first night will be like a loving touch in comparison. Be a good girl, and stay put." His eyes flashed with a look Sapphire had never seen before, not even in her unstable mother with murderous tenancies. It was a horrifying look, one which made her heart drop as she was breathing rather quickly from her racing heart.

As he moved a few meters away he laid down on the leaves, dropping his head to mock rest while he left his captive shivering in her own nerves; smirking sinisterly in his amusement.

Sapphire, however, felt the emotions of that night flood back. Despite the hope she still felt in her heart the sun was slowly being covered by dark clouds in her soul. She wished, wished with all her might that her family would burst in and save her....but the darkness of her altering mind whispered she was only lying to herself. They weren't coming....they were never going to find her.

Tears burned in her eyes as they slipped hot trails down her cheeks...but she dare not make a sound, and instead curled her head into her leg as she nearly disappeared in the shadow of the cropping. Sleep....thats what was best. Sleep, and pretend for a moment that everything was alright and she was temporarily safe.

At least in her dreams she could frolic happily with her family, and experience the love she was so desperate to get back to.

[Day Eleven - Voices]

How easy, was it to slip away from even yourself?

It was raining today, and the mare remained ever huddled against the rocks as the wet air clung to her dirty fur. She wondered if Lon was ever diligent watching, or if he had gone to find shelter. She couldn't have been sure, and thus she had remained. Sapphire ran her tongue along her lips, breathing out as she watched her breath swirl in a mist above her face. How long had it been, she'd forgotten to watch the falling and rising of the moon...well, trust be told she wasn't sure it really mattered anyways.

Until she healed a little more, there was no means to leave.

Leave...

Perking her head up, the mare glanced around, wondering where that sound had come from. Surely no one else had been tossed down here for dead? Although risky, she once again crawled from under the small shelter and into the rain, rising to her hooves as she stood in the rain. The thunder growled over head, occasionally flashing the night with lightning that crackled along the clouds above.

"Hello...?" She breathed out, not wanting to make too much noise or Lon might hear her if close by.

Run....Run and never look back.

There it came again. Concern riddled her brow as she was sure this time she'd heard it, clear as day despite the downpour echoing in her ears and soaking her pelt. "Sapphire...crazy?" She came to the conclusions, seeing nor smelling any figure around. As a few droplets got into her eyes she shook her matting hair, trying to get the intruding droplets out from her sensitive eyes.

Escape...she shuddered at the idea. The warnings she had been given by that dark nightmare still fresh in her mind like the slowly healing wounds on her body. It was futile to escape...he'd come and get her. Get her family... the pain her body was in would be nothing compared to if she brought such a demon back to her loving family. She'd already been such a burden...so sentence them to their deaths at the hands of her captor would have been absolutely wretched of her.

It was for the best.

"No escape..." She breathed out, it was safe in her knook, he didn't hurt her when she was still. Death seemed like a welcome embrace, the rain on her withering frame made her look even more slender. It wouldn't be long till her ribs would show....

Biting her lip gently, Sapphire loped back to her small protection from the elements; easing herself into a laying position as she cuddled against the cold rock. It was here where she could dream of the times past....but little did she know, although it was the last she heard of them tonight - the voices would be back.

Day Twenty - Waiting

Dangerous thoughts had formulated in her mind, thoughts of running, thoughts of escaping. She didn't let on she was thinking at all as she laid motionless on her side except from the soft rising and falling of her chest as she stared forward. She'd began to nibble on the grass again, noticing she was withering away and now...now she wanted to live. The voices kept getting stronger, more frequent. In her heart she could feel the pull from something outside, be it freedom or safety....if was calling her.

And oh, how she wanted to answer.

However she could see in her stare the image of LON in her peripherals up on the hill; watching, chuckling to himself in that sadistic manner of his. He would leave tonight for three nights, like he had been just this past time after she would 'go to sleep.' She'd been watching, waiting for an opportunity as this. The southern wall had shifted in the rain; leaving just enough of a pathway of ledges for her to probably jump and escape. For the time being, she would lay in her stupor and wait....perhaps take a nap under the partial warmth of the sun from her ledge to reserve her strength. She would need it if she was to make her escape.

No matter the cost, she had to try. Resolution to free herself from this horrible situation was engrained in her mind.

This could be her last chance. For who knew what was going on in the mind of LON, if he would get bored and kill her before she met her own death down in this pit.
