Name: Mai Choi
Age: 23
Occupation: Waitress and Single Mother
Personality traits: Young and still full of energy despite being a hard working single parent. She is very expressive on her thoughts on things and is all about making sure her son gets what he needs to have a happy and full filled childhood, hoping the fact that he does not have a father figure in his life doesn't effect him.
Brief Bio: May was born in Osaka,Japan, raised in Seoul, Korea and now lives in a small quiet growing down in the US. She's the only child of a divorced couple who had fallen in love and started a family too young, with both parents remarrying before she even turned 10 years of age. She has younger brothers and sisters from both her mother and father's new families, leaving her to feel like the odd child out, constantly traveling back and forth from Seoul to Osaka to take turns living with her mother and father.
Once she reached her teen years she got into a fight with her mother and decided to no longer go to Japan to see her, living with her father's family instead. Not that her relationship with her father was much better. She was a delinquent who wanted to find a place to fit in. She ended up falling in love with a young man. Nearly five years have passed and she's been doing her best living on her own with her now 4 year old son. She's matured greatly over the years and though she is still very expressive and had no problem speaking her apposing view on something to someone, she is all about caring for her son. To her, he is her life and where she belongs, even if she does get lonely at times.
Appearance: Slim and fit with supple pale skin. Stands at around 5'4" with mid length straight dark brown hair. Deep brown eyes, and a very bright smile. She dresses comfortably in what she can afford and wears only light makeup when the occasion calls for it.

"Ugh! Just great! I'm late getting off work again!"
A woman came barreling out of the small cafe restaurant and running across the quiet street before making her way down the sidewalk and around the corner.
Mai was late once again in getting off work and picking her son, Taehyun, from her friend Machiko's house. She had already received three texts from her friend about how her son was crying about where his mommy was. It seemed her son was in another one of his throwing fit moods and wasn't an angel at all today for Machiko.
She managed to catch the bus and after a few blocks she got off and made her way into a residential area. Within 20 minutes she reached her friend's house, and after getting an ear full from her friend she managed to escape the house unscathed with her son in tow.
"Thanks again Machiko! I really owe you! I'll never be late again! I promise!"
She closed the door quickly before her friend could continue her jabbering on about what her son did to her coffee table with a permanent marker and made her way down the driveway holding her son in her arms and trying to keep her purse on her shoulder.
Their apartment wasn't too far from here thankfully, just a calming straight walk for a couple miles.
"Omma...."
"Yes sweety?"
"want down...I want to walk myself."
Mai stopped walking for a moment as she carefully set Taehyun down. She took hold of his hand and they resumed down the street.
There was a good moment of silence before Mai decided to speak up.
"You know what you did to Machiko's things today was bad right? Tomorrow when i drop you off, you are going to apologize to her, right Taengoo?"
"....." her son remained quiet.
"Taehyun?"
"Yes, momma..."
"Good boy."
Mai let out a slow breath, now she had to add a coffee table to the list of things she owed Machiko. At this rate it would be cheaper to drop her kid off at a daycare. She hated having to drop him off somewhere and be away from him, but she has to work to provide for them, she knew it and Taehyun knew that. She just wished he wouldn't act out like this.
"How about mac and cheese tonight?"
"Okay."
That wasn't quite the reactions he was expecting from her son. Mac and Cheese was his favorite meal. he used to jump up and down out of sheer joy and excitement for getting his favorite food that his mommy had called on more then one occasion as unhealthy and shouldn't be eaten all the time.
The rest of the walk was silent, Mai trying to figure out a way to cheer her son up and get him out of his mood. For the past week he's been asking all sorts of questions about his daddy ever since she took him to a park where other kids had their dads playing ball with them. her son had never questioned it before, but now Mai couldn't help but notice how much he wanted a daddy, and oooooh~ how much she wanted to give him one, but ti wasn't easy. it wasn't easy for a single working mother to find love and find someone willing to be a father figure to her four year old son. In many cases the topic of a child turned off most men her age to begin with.
Mai was snapped from her thoughts when suddenly she heard something escape her boy's mouth.
"Daddy."
She looked over to find her son having tugged upon a young business man's coat. Her eyes widened. She couldn't believe what her kid had done!
"No no, sweety, that's not daddy.."
She reached over and took Taehyun's hand off of the man's coat, she looked up to him and gave him an embarrassed and shy bow of apology.
"Sorry about that.."
She flashed him an apologetic smile.

Unlike everyday that was usually just full of work, driving around, and meeting with people, Nate today got closer to his goal. Today he, and some other ten contestants, got selected from among 100 competitors to participate in an exhibition of designs that might be selected to become the city's new landscaping design. The winner will also become the city's official landscaping architect. That was Nate's ultimate goal. This was just a small step towards his goal. Anyways, after being told the great news Nate left the office happy as a turkey after the day of Thanks Giving. The smile he bore did not go away at all! The well dressed man, who wore his suit, tie, suitcase, and basically looked like an important business man, walked down the street. He really didn't live that far away from his office so he always opted for walking. Yes, he possessed a car, but Nate was always the type who preferred healthy living. I guess all the hard work is finally paying off! he thought as he walked without really putting attention as to where he was going. He was too busy getting lost in his mind. As he walked down the sidewalk he felt a sudden pull on his coat. That was more than plenty to get Nate back to earth. Looking down at the little boy who had pulled upon his coat, the tall young man who stood at 6'1 1/2 " couldn't help but smile and then looked back at the embarrassed mother. "It's alright. I guess he confused me." he said offering a friendly smile and sending out an amicable aura about him. His bright aqua eyes seemed to radiate with happiness and kindness. Nate was still quite overjoyed by the news of him being a finalist. "Do l look like his father?" he asked with a small chuckle at the end. In no way did he intended to ask a personal question like that, he just wondered since it was strange that a boy would call him dad. He had never been involved with a woman that seriously. At least not that he was aware of.

Mai felt her breath catch in her throat as she took notice of the man's dazzling aqua hued eyes. They were so hypnotizing, she felt like she could stare into them forever.
A whimpering grunt from her son as he tried to reach for the man's coat again brought her back to reality. A gentle blush came to her cheeks as she reached down and took her child up back into her arms as a way to keep him from grabbing onto the man again.
Her eyes turned back to him shyly as he spoke his question.
"Oh! um, not really. He's never actually seen his father before, so-."
Oh gawd Mai what are you doing offering up such information like that!?
Now he knows you are a single mother.
She let a nervous chuckle escape her lips.
'Sorry, he's just getting to that age you know, where he wants a dad around, just picks any old guy off the street- I-I mean, not that your old or anything."
Oh gawd, now you're rambling!
Just shut up already before you make a bigger fool of yourself!
"Anyway, sorry again."
She offered another embarrassed smile and a bow of her head in apology before turning the corner and into an apartment building.
The apartment building wasn't the nicest looking place, kinda run down and dirty looking, however it wasn't in that bad of a neighborhood, so it was probably kind of nice on the inside, or at least livable.
"Mommy, why your face hot..?" Taehyun asked as he proceeded to smooth his mother's cheeks with his cute little hands.
Mai stuck her lips out like a duck making Taehyun giggle and let go of his mommy's face.
"Mommy's just going alittle crazy is all."
She could still feel her heart pounding.
Her son had good taste in daddies...
She stopped before the elevator lift and set Taehyun down, taking up his hand again.
"Alrighty, Taengoo, lets go and make you some of that mac and cheese."
The elevator arrived and they stepped through.

All Nate could do as he saw the child trying to get a hold of him again was chuckle. Surprisingly, Nate liked little children and if he actually achieved his goal and married, he wanted to have children. If he didn't marry he was sure he would adopt. Now smiling at the mother, Nate shook of his head and spoke eloquently and in a calmed tone of voice. "I'm sorry. Maybe I shouldn't have asked. This old man sometimes is too curious for his own good." snickering a bit at his own joke, he nodded. "Don't worry too much. Bye son." he said winking at the little kid, except that an adult might notice that this was just a gesture of kindness from his part. After that small chit chat, Nate continued on walking about two blocks away until he reached what could be called the "upper" apartments. Upper middle class people lived there. The apartments were big enough for people living alone, including a guests' room. Nate's apartment was on the 3rd floor, and it was quite neat and organized. Everything that was expected from an architect. He had some of his unpublished designs hanging on the walls as part of the decoration. What a cute child. And the mother too. However, not getting to distracted on those "useless" thoughts, seeing as how he set himself to only focus on his career for now, Nate went into the kitchen and served himself a glass of champagne. He was indeed quite happy and some of his friends would come by and have a small celebration. This wasn't something really big but it was worth at least some kind of celebration. He knew that tomorrow they would all go out for lunch to a nice restaurant nearby that was said to be really good. He had never gone there, but if his friends recommended it then it should be worth a while. Unconsciously, Nate still wondered about the little kid who called him "daddy" today. Because he had not real father growing up, even if he did have his grandfather, he understood the little boy's need for a male figure while growing up. All he could wish for him was that soon his mother would find a man worthy enough to take care of them. Nate was the type of man who would quickly take apathy for others. Sometimes he could care too much, to the point where he would get involved with strangers for their benefit without getting anything in exchange.

Her pleasing thoughts about the young man her son 'picked up' was quickly turning sour as her boy kept jabbering on about wanting to see daddy again, and how he was really daddy because he called him son. She understood the guy was just being nice and kind, but such little things would confuse a child. And for a child in need and yearning for something, it was even more of a powerful suggestion.
She spent two hours trying to talk to her son about his father and trying to tell him that his daddy was back in Korea and how they won't ever see him again, how he was a busy man and so forth. but ti was useless, the young boy just wouldn't take in anything she said. She hoped after a movie and a bath the boy would settle down and fall asleep, hoping that tomorrow he would forget about the young man they met on the street.
It wasn't like they were ever going to meet again anyway. Life just didn't work like that; to meet a stranger twice.
But little did she know, Fate would have it's way and stir things up.
Tomorrow came faster then she hoped for. She getting dressed and ready for work for the 8 to 3 shift today. She got Taehyun dressed and packed him his little backpack full of things to keep him busy while at Machiko's. After a quick breakfast consisting of cereal and orange slices they left home for another day.
After coaxing an apology out of her child to Machiko, she left for work.
It would be a typical morning to afternoon shift, boring and probably slow.

The next day, like any other, Nate woke up, took a nice refreshing cold shower, even though it was winter(!), and walked to work. He usually skipped breakfast or ate some kind of fast food on his way out. It had been a long time since he had some actual home made food, and seeing as how he wasn't that great of a cook he never actually found time to learn, especially with all the work he had now. The day went great as Nate now began working on his next project to submit in the finalists' competition. He was more than determined to win and finally achieve his goal. It was only a couple of steps away and he didn't want anyone or anything taking that away from him. Soon enough it was lunch time and just as promised, he and two co-workers left the office to go to a nearby restaurant-cafe and enjoy some good time and food. The three men were wearing suits, watches, and their somewhat expensive cellphones. It didn't take quite long before the three young successful men were seated on a small round table near a window that gave view to the beautiful park with a small pond in front. All fitting for a nice friendly lunch. Hmm... what to eat? Nate wondered as he looked up at the menu the waitress gave to them as they entered the small restaurant. They were now waiting for another waitress to attend them and take their order.

"ooooh mai gawd~ Those three guys are so hot!"
"I bet they are loaded too."
"Who's turn for a table?"
"I think it's mine."
"No! They're mine." Mai spoke out as she squeezed into the small grouping of her fellow waitresses, "I did just tell you guys how I have to buy my friend a new coffee table, I need the extra tip money, guys."
The other waitresses chuckled at Mai.
"Yea, not easy being a single mother, eh?" One of the older waitresses remarked as she gave Mai a bump with her hip.
"Maybe you'll be lucky and you can pick one of 'em up and take them home to your son." Teased another waitress.
Mai only let out a breath and eyed the ladies as she marched through and on her way tot eh table, putting on her friendliest smile. She could hear the other waitresses snicker and chuckle at her.
She stopped before their table, note pad in hand, pen poised and ready.
"Hey there, guys. So have you decided one what you'll have? perhaps start off with something to drink?" She smiled brightly, being sure to be as professional as possible while making sure the guys were comfortable and felt like they were in a friendly environment.

Being the happy and friendly man he was, Nate was quick to recognize the waitress's voice and smiled at her. "Hey,... hmm... Mai!" he said as he read her name tag on her waitress uniform. He was really not expecting to see her again, but he had to admit this was not such a bad of an encounter. His friends looked at Marcus a bit confused, however, they also seemed to be friendly. "You know her? My my Nate! You know more women than I thought." one of his friends teased. The other one merely snickered and looked at the menu getting ready to order. "It's nice to see you again. Do you remember me?" he asked as he stood up to actually greet the woman. He was formal and old styled like that ( wink )

She shifted her eyes form one side of the table over to the other where she heard one of the men speak her name, the voice sounded familiar but she couldn't place it. She couldn't possibly know one of these guys, they were a bit out of her league, status wise.
Her eyes widened as she noticed who it was, taken back by how strange the fates were.
"Omomomomo..."- she pointed at him," Da...ddy?"
Her face turned bright red as she realized what she had just called the man. her eyes quickly turning to look at the other two men, whom she by now has clearly gotten their attention.
"I-I mean..he's not- my son called him that the other day--n-not that my son knows him well enough to-not that i'm going out with him or anything- I...I'll get you fellas three waters, be right back."
She quickly turned and walked away, absolutely embarrassed and beat red. Chuckleing could be heard as she entered the waitress's station.
"What happened over there?"
"Why you blushing so bad?"
The other waitresses were curious as to what was going on as Mai went to work filling up three glasses with ice cold water.
"I know one of them."
A gasp errupted from each woman.
"No way! how!?"
"My son picked him up yesterday in the street."
She said simply as she set the glasses on a serving tray and left the station, the girl's dumbfounded as to what exactly her words meant.
Mai had settled down and once more managed to compose herself as she returned to the table with the three waters. setting them before eat man.
"Have you all decided on something? Or you all still need a little time?"
Her smile was back on her face, though looked a bit awkward, it was obvious she was still embarrassed about what happened a moment ago. She could only hope the good laugh would earn her a nice tip from the other two men.
Mai was trying hard not to make eye contact with the only pair of aqua eyes at the table.

Taking it as a joke, Nate quickly shook of that sort of embarrassing moment of being called "daddy" by a woman. The guys were quick to give him "the" look, but he ignored it. However, the guys didn't seem to let go of that so easily. "What was that about Nate?" the guy on the left asked as he gave Nate a teasing stare. The other guy on the right nodded and snickered a bit more. "She's pretty nice to be married and with a kid. I never would've guessed. You shouldn't mess with married woman." Nate sighed and shook his head. "Before you guys accuse her of committing adultery, you should know that I'm not wooing her. I met her yesterday after her son called me dad by accident." he said clearing up his name. Not that he really minded but he did have a reputation of not getting involved with women. Not yet that is. Even so, Nate kept his nonchalant attitude and friendly atmosphere. He was easy to approach. After having some laughs with the guys while Mai was gone, they all decided to leave the topic of "daddy" alone for the moment being. They didn't want to embarrass the poor waitress any more. Once she came back, Nate was the first one to order. "I'll have a turkey club sandwich with some strawberry-kiwi smoothie please." he asked with a small smile as he looked at the beautiful young independent woman before him. Little did he know that this woman and him were connected by the red sashes of destiny. The rest of the guys proceeded to order as well. Nate had still not presented himself formally. He had forgotten about that.

Though she told herself not to look at him again, as he spoke, and out of habit she turned to the customer who spoke. her eyes landing upon his smiling face. She would stare at him as he spoke his order, jotting it down real quick on her note pad.
She couldn't help but look at those amazingly blue eyes of his, they were so clear and deep, like the ocean. Without her realizing it a slight grin curled one corner of her mouth as she gazed into his handsome face. He was so kind and easy to approach, despite constantly being thrown into misunderstand situations with her. She no doubt had to be a bother to him, no man wanted to involve himself with a woman with a child already.
Her eyes teared themself off him as the next man spoke his order, she offering a gentle smile and a nod and she took ti down as well, her eyes moving to the final man as he spouted out his order as well.
She gave the boys a big smile as she flipped the note pad closed.
"Alright I'll be right back with your drink orders. You food should be ready in a few minutes."
She turned and left the table, happy that they men didn't bother to bring up the subject of 'daddy'. She was sure she would die if they had.
"So...who's yur daddy~?" Teased one fot he waitresses as she stepped into the watress station.
"Aigoo! Marsha! wae? Aiii jinja."
She felt the blush come to her face instantly as she went about to one of the computers and imputed the food orders and went on making the drinks for the men, all the while the other waitresses teasing her.

As the men waited for their food to arrive, they soon began to discuss about Nate's big project. Ideas and suggestions were coming from every men's mouth and all of them, as the architects they were, soon began drawing on their napkins and on the air. "No no, I think a roman arch would be better fitting for that corridor." said Nate as he began to draw some more. They seemed quite important as they all talked and discussed. They were quite young, however, only one of them was married. The guy on the left had gotten married a year ago to his high school sweetheart. Not everything they were talking was work related. They would crack up jokes a couple of times and have a good laugh. The guy on the right (single) had green eyes, the guy on the left (married) had hazel eyes, and Nate, well, he had bright aqua eyes. They had known each other since junior high and had eventually grew to become great friends. They used to be the "nerds" from school. Funny how they ended up being the most successful and good looking (heh).
